Jurss Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 I think, not needed. But smaller would be good, to build some tractor with smaller front tires. Quote

I came to work today and found a nice package from TLG containing their 2018 catalog, I'm not going to post any pictures because it's confidential, but I can confirm at least 2 sets with PF, the flagship is the only set that doesn't have a prelim image so don't know what that will be yet. The sets look nice imo, and it looks like the CLAAS tires are here to stay Can't you provide a little more information? Like, number of sets, and names? Even if there isn't an image for the flagship, there should be a name. Also, can you identify what the sets are? What we know so far: 2, perhaps more sets with PF At least 1 set has CLAAS tires Flagship is blacked out like Mack Anthem. Edited December 22, 2017 by Saberwing40k Quote
1gor Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Just now, Boulderer said: Everyone talks about smaller Claas tyres. How about bigger? Highly unlikely because previous biggest tires used in Technic line (Powerpullers) were about same diameter as this CLAAS tires, so I don't think it will happen. Other thing is that we do not have wheel so far bigger in diameter than 56 mm, perhaps using two wheels from BMW motorbike would help - but it is not usual LEGO solution. I personally would like that LEGO makes 122-123mm tire for one my desired (big) model, but I have to stay on the ground. When @degenerate said it looks like the CLAAS tires are here to stay - that could only mean that there is currently only Existing knows 107 x 44 tire in catalog...when we ignore flagship which has blacken image as he said Just now, Boulderer said: The discussion is drifting to speculation, yet again. degenerate Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 (edited) Its nearly Christmas, so why not 42079, Forklift This is the smallest of the models, looks like it's sitting on 4 62,4mm tires 42080, Forest Harvester This looks really cool, has 4 axles, PF and pneumatics, very different model from what we usually see 42081, Volvo Autonomous Some futuristic looking concept loader, CLAAS tires and the massive bucket from 42030 by the looks of it, no PF or pneumatics but I spot at least 1 large LA 42082, Rough Terrain Crane This thing looks awesome, 4 Unimog tires PF with 1 L motor, massive 2 stage boom. Box has a front flap, it's also the biggest sized box of all. Comes with a couple of "walls" so you can assemble a small module house of some sort. 42083, No info on this one yet The box is slightly smaller than 42082, but as I mentioned before this one comes packaged 1 set/ctn, it could be a new supercar due to how it's packaged, it will be a very expensive set either way. That's all folks, merry christmas! @Saberwing40k There is no name for 42083 at all, it only says "Lego technic confidential" and the dimensions of the box, 570 x 375 x 150mm Edited December 22, 2017 by degenerate Quote

degenerate Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 If I have to guess I would say that the PF in 42080 is to power a pneumatic pump, which is another interesting feature we haven't seen in too many sets. Honestly can't see any other point for PF in that set. Quote
1gor Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 (edited) so it could be: 42079 like this 42080 something like this 42081 like this 42082 like this Edited December 22, 2017 by I_Igor Quote
degenerate Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 @I_Igor Those are very spot on actually, the Volvo loader looks a little bit different, I haven't managed to find a good image of the "real" concept they've based the model on yet... Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 So 42082 is just 42009 on big tyres and with less axles +.+ Quote

Just now, degenerate said: I haven't managed to find a good image of the "real" concept they've based the model on yet... That could be like a B model of 42063 - flying futuristic bike, that was made together by TLG and BMW and didn't have any existing prototype, or even already published somewhere. As for the tires bigger than CLAAS - I think that it's about the same to make an XXL motor - it will twist axles and other connectors even faster And moreover - imagine how expensive the sets will be.. No way, I believe. Quote
Vectormatic Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 i dont usually care much for forklifts/cranes, but im still sour over missing 42042, so maybe the new crane will work for me 83 also intrigues me, if its a porsche sized car, im hoping its a ferrari or similar, with the tech done right, but time will tell Quote

Ngoc Nguyen Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 (edited) TLG now is like, if you like it then you put "rough terrain" on it First we have all terrain tow truck, then rough terrain crane. Maybe we will have rough terrain super car, rough terrain racer, rough terrain loader, rough terrain excavator, or even, blimey, rough terrain aircraft hahaha Edited December 22, 2017 by Ngoc Nguyen Quote

That's all folks, merry christmas! Hot. Damn. I was about to post my theories, and I thought wheel loader and forwarder were unlikely, but here they are. As I was typing this, I got a PM with the pictures. I can't repost them, but I can describe them. 42079 Forklift: It's yellow. I can't tell if the mast uses ropes or not, but it does have at least 1 stage with the gear rack holder in gray. It comes with a pallet with a canister of something dangerous. The mast also tilts. Looks to be in the 700 part range. 42080 Forest Harvester: This thing is weird. I_Igor got the general machine type right in his post above, but this ain't a deere. The cutting head and back are kind of out of proportion, and the grab arm is mounted above the cab like a Ponse Scorpion. The wheels are smaller balloon tires, I don't remember the size off the top of my head. The model is lime, white, and another green that is probably dark green. It has articulated and front wheel steering, and it looks like the cab rotates. I see an orange piece on the side, I'm guessing it's a switch of some kind, but of what type? The grab has some new 2x2 round pieces with spikes on them. It also comes with a tiny log, and a tiny chainsaw. By the cab, I see some possibly new panels, but it's not a good enough image to tell. 42081 Volvo Autonomous: WTFBBQ? I immediately thought of the Volvo Sphinx concept wheel loader, but this is something completely different. It has no cab whatsoever, and comes with a quadcopter drone. There is also a weird arm of uncertain function on the back. I'm willing to bet money this concept is going to debut at a construction expo sometime in 2018. I have never seen anything like this, ever. It looks to have 4 wheel steering, and a couple of recolors, like 3x11 panels in light gray, and 5x11 tapered panels in black. Functions and other parts are a mystery. 42082 Rough Terrain Crane: Hot. Damn. This is not just 42009 on big tires. The outriggers are somewhat unexpectedly not telescopic, but Lego's more traditional folding ones. The boom also has only one extending section, as opposed to 42009, which has two. To me, this means that Lego wants it to be more reliable, so you can actually lift things. It includes an XL motor, and a battery box, and is thus presumably not remote control. The functions are run through a selector box, and one part of that can be seen between the wheels. It sits on Unimog tires, on red rims. The whole thing is red and black, in fact. I'm slightly disappointed, I would have liked it to be colored like 855. There is also a V8 engine, just hanging out in back. That is slightly janky looking. It also comes with 4 wall sections and lifting chains, so that you can assemble a nice prefab house. It's not often that Lego includes a load in crane sets. All in all, it's a pretty nice flagship. 42083 ????: Unknown, box is slightly smaller than 42082. No picture available, so it's... Something. Likely to be a supercar, but it could be anything. Single set per case pack, so it's likely to have premium packaging. If it's a supercar, it's not likely to be anything currently on the streets. Again, going by Porsche precedent. I_Igor got the pictures right, for the most part. Have fun with my information, and if you have any questions, I may not respond right away, as it is 1:30 AM where I live, and I should be in bed. Quote
degenerate Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Yeah, bigger sized 8270 is about right Quote
J_C Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 well, well, well, as I skipped everything from 2017 and (apart from yacht) will be skipping most likely H1 2018 too, H2 of 2018 seems like lots of boxes for me. forklift? even bad one is cool forest harvestor? even bad one is cool crane? even bad one is cool Quote

Ngoc Nguyen Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Okk thanks to two Santas who should not be named I've seen the pics. And I feel meh. 42079 Forklift: I've always wanted a Technic forklift but this forklift looks subpar. The 62.4 wheels look oversized. The wheel bolts are like the ones in 42053. They look too small for 62.4 wheels. And there doesnt seem to be any realistic details. 42080 Forest Harvester: The color scheme is a mess o__O Rear body has lime for the upper half and dark green for lower half. Front body has black lower body, lime cabin, white crane arm, yellow pneumatic cylinder, red spinning cutting blade. I was like wth is this hodgepodge? 42081 Volvo Autonomous: I have no idea why Volvo would give license for this or why TLG would want a license for this. The rear body points upward like a butt. 42082 Crane: It has an exposed, I repeat, exposed V8 engine in the undercarriage with an orange fan like that in 42030. Like, it protrudes upward in the rear. And Im not a fan of exposed engine. Quote

degenerate Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 @Ngoc Nguyen About 42081, the rear body can move up and down (and a bit back and forth at the same time?) if you look at the small image on bottom right corner of the box it should be a bit clear. Still not sure if I like it, but I'll probably get it anyways for the bucket and wheels. Price shouldn't be too hefty since there are no PF or pneumatics. Quote
MegaRoi Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 @degenerate, @Saberwing40k, @I_Igor Wow, that's a bunch of information! Thank you for so many details. The toy fairs are going to be interesting this year. I suppose there will be a new Supercar. Also with Porsche exclusive wheels? Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 (edited) But really, the Forest Harvester looks really discomfortable because the color hodgepodge makes me feel dizzy. It looks like those fake box pic where some amateurs just slap their ill conceived and poorly designed sets on to a box. Edited December 22, 2017 by Ngoc Nguyen Quote
