Here I am with my latest mech in my recent mech frenzy. Once again I am trying to do something different and avoiding the smooth, humanoid mech stereotype (NOTE: This is not an offense to the makers of these beautiful creations, I just want to do something fresh :-). This time due to recent criticisms saying that I couldn't do smooth mechs following my deliberately boxy mech (see sig), I set out to make a wacky new creation.

I call it, The Deep Sea Walker:

p1210675.jpg

Built to look like a sea creaure, I made the decision early on to give it a large amphibian head with no arms:

p1210678.jpg

The green and black colour scheme is quite effective I think:

p1210677.jpg

It WILL destroy the Golden Thumbs LuxorV, in a climactic underwater showdown! >:-)

p1210679.jpg

Really, one day I will make a humaoid mech, but right now I'm exploring all the different design types and trying to break new ground, or atleast make something original:

p1210681.jpg

I'm especially proud of the leg design, which covers the joints up fairly well, while remaining smooth and posable:

p1210682.jpg

Despite the large "fish head", it is very stable, which I credit to my hip design, which connects to the head via a single technic piece, allowing it to swivel without exposing the inner design:

p1210683.jpg

I'm very happy with how the seaweed on the head came out:

p1210693.jpg

As in this shot you can see the head swivel, it can rotate 360 degrees:

p1210697.jpg

My favourite shot ever, I just love this shot. Love it:

p1210698.jpg

It sees you!

p1210699.jpg

Note the stance of the legs here, very stable:

p1210703.jpg

Looking down, I'd certainly be intimidated:

p1210702.jpg

Taking on my EN mech (see sig ;-) ):

p1210705.jpg

Final shot, Overall I'm extremely happy with it:

Hope you enjoyed, comments and criticism welcome!

Very cool MOC, Batbrick! I love the aquatic, sea-monster feel of it, The colour scheme fits perfectly. *y* I can see this thing hiding, camouflaged in amongst the seaweed, then striking when it's enemies come near. >:-) Really cool, keep up the good work! *y*

Very well done Batbrick *y* , mind you I don't know that much about mechs. :-$

I simply love the origianality this mech has, it looks like a big aquatic mostrousity hiding in some Seaweed.

Thats a complement by the way. ;-)

What sort of armaments does it have? Or is it a deep sea exploration mecha, meaning it doesn't have a military role. X-D

Excuse me for asking, but what set is that windshield from? I like it, it looks good on your mecha. :-)

EDIT: I just looked at my profile and I find I am know a Eurobricks citizen, Huzzah!

Wonder who that could be?

X-D T'is much better. The only grevance I would have is on the hip joints, which seem rather unarmoured, but the legs are very well covered up and articulated. The main head seems abit blocky in the front, just that one layer, if smoothed out, would get a much better overall feel to it, but the shape does seem quite correct. Much better than boxy :-P

Beautifull MOC. I absolutely love the legs, great design and protection. One question: Who pilots it?

Thanks, I don't know who pilots it yet, you? X-D

Wow, I like it! It's very original, KUTGW!

Thanks, now I just need to figure out what KUTGW means...

thanks GeneralTarful, its kind of biomechanical, so its weapons are more the mandibles and tentacles.

The windshield is from Aquaraiders set Shar Attack, it is a very useful piece.

:-D , i was hoping you wouldn't take offense to that, it was merely my silly payback ;-)

Thankyou for your honesty, the hip joints are a tad exposed, but the pelvic design which sloped down them middle meant that was as much as I could cover unfortunately. It is a tad blocky at the front, though in all honesty I never intended for a totally smooth shape, but I unfortunately ran out of inverted slopes to use because Interactive Apocalypse had taken them all |-/

Thanks again, though I do love Boxy :-P

Boxy Vs. Shapley, the ever enduring conflict >:-)

And no problem, as I do appreciate real critisizm along with praise, if you don't get critisizm, how do you know what to improve on in future creations? If you do it in a polite and constructive manner, people really do appreciate it, from my experiences, I know I do :-$

And I never did mean offence, if there was any taken :-P Boxy jus' aint my style!

Why, why everybody want to destroy my poor little mecha :'-(

Very nice creation, Batbrick *y* You built a neat deep sea creature, with great touches as those fins and tentacles.

I was a bit unconfortable with the rigid poses of the first pics :-/ Then, I came on the 'in action' poses, and I must say I really *wub* them.

If only I had all those dark-green bricks :'-)

Just one thing I'd like to know: is it automated, remote controlled or piloted 8-| ? You know, your pics show no pilot, and I can't see any commands or mechanisms to open the cockpit...

I think its self piloted, I was so excited about showing it I never bothered putting a guy in there 8-|

Its kind of biomechanical, so I'd say it was its own intelligence. Thanks for your comments, I used up just about every dark green brick i own on it, and I'm glad you like the poses, maybe I won't crush your probably superior mech, yet.

Oh, that explains it all ;-) It must be similar to a Zoid (self-aware mech that can host a pilot).

I don't know if the GoldenThumbs is superior, but I gave up building fighter mecha a long time ago. Mine are all non-fighter work or exploration mecha. If they carry weapons, it's only for defence, and the pilots prefer not to use them.

List: mech - use

Werewolf - exploration and mine/mountain work

Hinckley Special - just fun X-D

Shakar Special - magic worlds' travelling

Sinner Special - unknown (it's the mysterious Ancient Walrus, after all ;-) )

Golden Thumbs - underwater exploration and high pressure environment work

On the other hand, a bolt from my electro-harpoon should give it the time to leave your mech's territory ;-)

Yeah i'm kind of the same, I don't really like fighting mechs, so mine so far are:

Worker Mech - Working (no really?)

Armed Mech Variant - Fighting (the only one so far)

Boxy Red Robot Mech - Toy

Deep sea walker - Creature

And I would say yours is superior, I'm a pretty amateur mech builder, but I'm happy with this one *sweet*

I like it, it is very unique, I have not seen a green seaweed covered mech before!

I like the overall shape of the mech, the "tentacles" look cool too, and I like the leg design, nice and strong!

Gotta tell you man, this is a really nice piece.

I'm handing it to you man, coming across this has made me jump back into this lego thing after many many MANY years. Joined the forum just to give you props for this excellent joint right here. It isn't the best I've ever seen, but it's damn creative.

Thanks.

Wow! Thanks a heap DrewDogg, this is easily the best compliment I've had, thankyou a lot. I hope you enjoy taking another shot at Lego!

To the Batbrick Cave! >:-)
