Because you can always change the stats of your ships. I think it is also a bit of a trade secret how different fleets defend them selves. I think I'd prefer to know rather than building a bunch of ships and then having the heartache losing them. Also, after seeing @Drunknok build like 4 large plantations to try to find the bonus for Mesabi Landing, I'd prefer not to have to do a similar task. 2 hours ago, SilentWolf said: I can't answer the specifics of your question as I am not sure how they are handling fleets in 2.0. However, from my understanding there is a "dice roll" on combat and defense that adds numbers to the stats of both ships. A simple example would be if ship A has 2 guns but rolls a 4 it now has stats of 6. It is fighting ship B with 4 guns but it only rolls a 1 so it has a stat of 5. Ship A would win in this case. Now I know it has been revised with 2.0 so maybe I'm completely wrong but from my understanding the basic idea I just explained is still in effect. I do appreciate the random values to the tmcra, I just want to know if it's calculated per fleet, or per ship. If it's per ship, it would be ridiculously hard to take on any ship with anything but a larger ship, unless someone did a glass cannon run with one stat maxed. If it's per fleet, overspecialization could be more advantageous. Either way, it will influence my ship design. Quote

They both have 3 ships of equal class, and equal maneuvering. 1 fleet has a stat of each maxed and the other 2 at zero. 1 fleet has all stats equal. If they fight, who would win? It's impossible to say who would win, and each battle could be different. The weather gauge would determine a lot. If the maxed-out fleet wins the weather gauge, they would have a better chance of winning, while if they lose the weather gauge they would face a good chance of loosing. In your scenario, since the fleets are equal in maneuver stats, the weather gauge would come down to a dice roll, with the defender having an advantage in a tie. 8 hours ago, Mesabi said: Would the ships individually fight another individual ship, or are all the ship's stat points added together for the battle? All stats are added. Quote
Flavius Gratian Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 As far as I've understood it, you first have a dice roll for the weather gauge which both gives a bonus to the winner (though it's unclear how large a bonus) and determines the combat style, so if I have chosen guns as my prefered combat style and win the weather gauge the battle will be comparing my gun rolls vs theirs, with crew and hull having no effect. Though I can't answer as to what happens with the order when there are several ships. Quote
Mesabi Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 (edited) Can I get a clarification for how the battle rules work? So, is a weather gauge rolled for each of the 3-5 battles? or does it only decide the first one? More precisely, how is the type of battle decided for battles 2-5? Is it Hull v. Guns, and Crew v. Crew, or Hull v. Hull, Guns v. Guns, Crew v. Crew How do forts factor into the weather gauge? Thanks in advance! Edited September 2, 2018 by Mesabi Quote
