I hope it's correct enough. :) Here's the LDD project (feel free to improve it): https://www.dropbox.com/s/0swliddi2o9iduw/75192 - between mandibles.lxf?dl=0 Quote
shizzuh Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 (edited) Hello! My first post here, so sorry if this is in the incorrect location, but I am excited to share my modifications! I have tried to modify the structure of the vanilla model as little as possible. I added some paneling for the floor to the already open back right section, and modified the top panel according to the instructions for the left top panel. There were a few extra pieces needed but it was a very easy process. The front right section did take a bit more tinkering as the panel I replaced with a removable piece was bearing some of the weight of the cockpit. I did have to add some extra assembly around here to satisfy myself that the cockpit would not droop over time, but am satisfied with the modification. To make this complete I would now need to somehow beg Lego for some extra stickers to put on the hallway doors ;) Unfortunately, I did not see an easy way of adding a cockpit-access hallway without significantly redesigning that part of the model, and that's beyond what I set out to do. At some point however I would like to consider that as well as adding some interior to the docking port areas. Also sorry for the poor lightning and picture quality, I hope to update this with some better images soon. Hope you all like these! She definitely dwarfs my other baby! imadcobra Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Really like what you have done shizzah. Thanks for sharing your photos Exactly what I want to do with the bedroom and storage space. I have thought of swapping the engine and bedrooms around and I want to make the engine bigger with some blue pipes around it.. I Also like the extra doors. Not sure how we are going to get anymore stickers though. I had thought of getting some printed off of mine when the Falcon is finally for sale here (NZ) and I can actually buy it. Quote
Midlife-crisis Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Build the engine today - very similar to Lock´s modification but with less swivel plates (only a 1/3, stability is ok with them, even on the vertical stand) and a differtent connection in the middle. Quote
Lobot Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 @shizzuh - welcome to Eurobricks! I've merged your thread with this dedicated one to keep the forum tidy. Nice mods, by the way! Quote
Lock Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 (edited) Ok, today my focus was on the cockpit. No need to say I didn't like at all the default one, let alone the fact the minifig behind Chewie couldn't sit. :) I wanted correct colors and nice seats because, when you've to calculate a light speed route, you won't do it sitting on the ground! I took a lot of inspiration from the pic you posted in this thread and this is my experiment: To be honest I'm not sure it will work. According to @YavinBase the lenght can be extended by one stud and I did it, to allow cloches (joystick or whatever is the correct english word). :) But, since the new cockpit is not in LDD I can't verify if the new piece fits correctly in. My doubt is the below part, it could be too thick (I had to reinforce the structure a bit, after removing 32059 piece, or seats didn't connect). According to LDD the wookie pillow has to be removed but it's a sub-millimeter thing, maybe in real life it still fits. As usual here's the project file (with some variants): https://www.dropbox.com/s/npwh8kv6qsseb1m/75192 - cockpit.lxf?dl=0 Edited December 3, 2017 by Lock Quote

It is very similar, the only difference is the mounting in the middle. All sections are 4 Stud plates exept the middle one is 2x3 or 1x6 plate. Quote

Thanks for your reply :) I messaged Lock if he can help me, so far I got this: But I can't see the back/bottom so I don't know if it's correct. I was also thinking of using these instead of the 4073 round 1x1's. I think those (4864b) would look great too, but I don't know if this will fit if you put 2 above each other with a single flat dark blueish gray piece in under, between and on top of them. How high is the 4864b compared to the 2 stacked 1x1 4073's? So something like this: Also the 87552 is an option: It will look a lot like the engine in the movie like that: Edited December 11, 2017 by Angeloonie Quote
Terrasher Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Hi, I just finished building 75192 and I noticed that a lot of the top panels are just sitting there. For those that have built efferman's stand, should I MOD the panels so that they are attached better to the frame of the ship? Are they going to fall off if I don't? Thanks. Quote

In the last days I've modified my engines a bit (and already placed my order on Bricklink): It's basically very similar to my previous post but I've optimized the structure and made new, easier connections. The pinky item in the lower part of the image is the previous connection, I've kept it to use in case the new one won't fit perfectly (it has one more trans-blue studs column so I've no idea if it's too long or not), the pink pieces are not in the below list, in case I'll re-use the new central connection ones. Right engine back details (left one is mirrored): Here's my Bricklink list: The few pieces on the sides are to be placed instead of the original ones to keep the long grids (as I decided not to leave them). If you're not interested please remove from the above list. And, finally, the project file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r5ybxqzklmlxsjc/75192 - New Engine.lxf?dl=0 I hope this will answer all your questions. If not, well I'm here. :) P.S. Also, important, keep in mind I still didn't assembled my 75192 (it's a Christmas present so I'll open it on 25th), so I only tested the new engine on an LDD version of the Falcon. I (still) can't guarantee it will perfectly fit, until I'll try it for real! :) Edited December 12, 2017 by Lock Quote
Lock Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) Finally, to answer your question about 87552 (this one is the best option, as there are more quantities on Bricklink) I don't think it could be a viable solution: It seems really too tall. Also you'll have problems about where to connect the hinge plates. But, as I already said, I haven't the chance to test it, yet. :) Edited December 12, 2017 by Lock Quote
Aman Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 (edited) Made a room for the back left area where nothing is. The room has a work station, 4 beds and some technical stuff with 2 doorways. {Some of the parts are odd versions of normal ones and I realised after on bricklink. https://gyazo.com/398966deb43d48df52d60bf3a789e321 https://gyazo.com/b2ea097a51bc3d762bd8cad2d05239e8 https://gyazo.com/c3407be0c5718bad8cf4f3a3d9781db3 https://www.dropbox.com/s/vsclv06q5yc5nye/75192.lxf?dl=0 Edited December 17, 2017 by Aman Quote

mgoblue1997 Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 I apologize if this has already been discussed, I didn't see anything mentioned, but of the 6 vents on the back, Is it possible to slightly turn the outer vents to make it look more accurate? Since I haven't seen anyone MOD these pieces yet, is it not possible or makes it look bad? It looks like the round sections could be easily lifted off or assembled together before mounting onto the ship and ever so slightly turned, or at least the top 2 run closer to parallel with the others. I know the actual ship are angled on the outside vents, but the top two especially bother me every time I see those vent lines at such a different direction. I won't be building this marvel until at least after the holidays when we'll have space and time. Thanks to everyone here for sharing their talents and offering continued assistance to improve a great set. Quote
Lock Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 It’s something that bothered me too when I saw the first images but, since like you I’ll start building my Falcon after Xmas, it’s something I still have to check. Maybe some mods can be done but I guess it will require at least one more “layer” of plates and one turntable one. And then they’ll be free to rotate so I’m not sure if it would be worth the effort. After all it’s Lego, so some compromise should be accepted. :) Quote

JJtorres501 Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Hey all, I will be getting this set when I return from deployment but I have a few questions. Is it possible to extend the interior to mod it? It looks as if there is a lot of wasted space.. space that can be pushed out towards the hull/walls of the ship. Can this be done without taking away from the strength of the build? Quote

Can this be done without taking away from the strength of the build? Modifying the inner frame of the Falcon is the hardest thing to do. It's certainly possible to push the frame outwards to free more interior space. Coming up with a frame that doesn't waste a lot of space should be easy. Making sure that the frame is strong enough to support the weight of the ship will be hard. The strongest and easiest frames are rectangular, and I think 75192's is as big as it be. I recommend keeping the "+" shape in the middle of the frame and then making an octogon or a dodecagon around that. Quote

It's of course possible to totally remove the internal structure, maybe leaving the Falcon laying directly on the ground (without legs) and then build a complete set of interns. Of course you won't be able to move it around anymore, but someone decided it was better for them with the previous 2007 model. From what I'm seeing while building it (yes, I started) there's plenty of space you can personalize, without compromising the original structure. I'm adding an extra back room and will surely find a good use of the little cannon one (probably a container for the not used antenna) and I already changed lot of original parts to better fit my tastes and needs. :) Quote
DarthPineapple Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 (edited) Not sure if this also goes here, but I just put some lights in my Falcon and I would like to share the result. There are some excellent engine mods in this thread (which probably look even better with some LEDs incorporated!) but I really preferred to keep my model original. So I got a light wire with a light blue color and put it though the hoses. Only changes needed were to replace the blue technic axle pins with regular pins so I could fit the wire through! The battery box could be easily stored in the interior. See the result: Edited December 28, 2017 by DarthPineapple Quote
Seasider Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Hi all, I’ve had my Falcon delivered today, pretty quick as I only ordered it on the 12th Dec. so I’m thinking about building one of @efferman‘s stands. Are many people using either of these and if so which version and how well do they and the Falcon hold up? has anyone tried building it on the stand once you have the base frame built for the Falcon? Final question based on @efferman‘s stand, has anyone done a mod to cover the landing gear holes? not sure if/how much I’ll mod mine. Still curious if TLG will come up with “upgrades” Quote
