Are many people using either of these and if so which version and how well do they and the Falcon hold up? has anyone tried building it on the stand once you have the base frame built for the Falcon? Final question based on @efferman‘s stand, has anyone done a mod to cover the landing gear holes? not sure if/how much I’ll mod mine. Still curious if TLG will come up with “upgrades” I used it and love it. I don't see why you couldn't mount it once you get to the landing gear section of the instructions. It'd make it easier to mount then. If you decide to mount it later, I'd advise taking everything loose off prior to trying and better yet, try to get help. I did it on my own and ended having to rebuild quite a bit due to parts falling off, things falling apart and pieces bouncing everywhere. Quote

Jerry McGlade Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Hello, my name is Jerry. I am a long time Lego builder. I build modulars and Star Wars MOCs/MODs. Here is a question--How hard would it tome the shooter cabin be able to move i.e. when looking down at it the shooters face vision would move right and left of your face. I have already modded my own ucs MF by looking at this forum (thank you) and now decided to go into this fantastic forum. Thanks. Quote

Is it possible to extend the interior to mod it? It looks as if there is a lot of wasted space.. space that can be pushed out towards the hull/walls of the ship. Can this be done without taking away from the strength of the build? ScottishDave did it and i remember he said the fram was still enough strong to move the Falcon around. Link to Frame mod You can find some images of rhe interior in the second page and others searching on the forum. Quote

About $8 each on Amazon. You can see very little modification was needed. Here's another pic of the details. I needed only to substitute a 2x3 gray with two 1x2 blues to make room for the LED strip to pass through the middle. A little piece of clear tape secures both ends in place (better than kragle right?) until the tube ends are put back in place. <snip> Hello, I wanted to do the same mod to my MF that you did. I can not see the brand of lights and all from the pic. can you tell me what it is please Thanks Edited January 9, 2018 by BEAVeR Please don't quote images that don't add to your question Quote

Since I haven't seen anyone MOD these pieces yet, is it not possible or makes it look bad? It looks like the round sections could be easily lifted off or assembled together before mounting onto the ship and ever so slightly turned, or at least the top 2 run closer to parallel with the others. I know the actual ship are angled on the outside vents, but the top two especially bother me every time I see those vent lines at such a different direction. I won't be building this marvel until at least after the holidays when we'll have space and time. Thanks to everyone here for sharing their talents and offering continued assistance to improve a great set. I haven't seen anyone mod this section yet. I've been kicking around a similar idea but I haven't have a chance to implement it yet. I've been monitoring this thread hoping that somebody would come up with something, but so far nothing yet. Using a turntable 2x2 element you can do the trick, and then block the vent on a certain angle from below, using 1x1 studs or so. maybe I’ll give it a try in the next weeks, when I’ll finish modifying the right panels (to make the hole for the new room). But I’m not sure that visually the result will be nice. Quote

So even if the grills themselves were aligned, they would would be off-kilter. But that would mean re-engineering the rear panels somewhat, and I'm not sure I'm up for that. Quote

I've just made a very quick and rough try. The most rear vents are already one plate higher, this method will be perfect. The front side ones aren't so, or you accept the compromise of having them one plate higher (maybe making the central one — or all the others, it doesn't change the Falcon look too much — higher as well) or you need to modify the top panel (it doesn't seems too hard, but of course it will require a bit of LDD time). Using four more curved tiles (the same around the black grids) around the turnable 2x2 piece you can then hide everything. Of course angles you can use to keep the grid fixed are limited, I guess 45° or so but, as you can see in the pic, it doesn't look bad at all. (unfortunately I didn't have another turnable piece around to test the other vent). Or else, if you plan to keep the MF exposed behind a glass showcase or a table, then you don't need to fix them and you can choose the rotation angle you prefer. At first I didn't think to do this change... But now I think I'll spend a bit more time about it later. After I'll finish the modify for showing the third room: :) Quote

In the last days I've modified my engines a bit (and already placed my order on Bricklink): <snip of engine mod> It's basically very similar to my previous post but I've optimized the structure and made new, easier connections. The pinky item in the lower part of the image is the previous connection, I've kept it to use in case the new one won't fit perfectly (it has one more trans-blue studs column so I've no idea if it's too long or not), the pink pieces are not in the below list, in case I'll re-use the new central connection ones. Right engine back details (left one is mirrored): <snip of engine mod> Here's my Bricklink list: <snip of parts list> The few pieces on the sides are to be placed instead of the original ones to keep the long grids (as I decided not to leave them). If you're not interested please remove from the above list. And, finally, the project file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r5ybxqzklmlxsjc/75192 - New Engine.lxf?dl=0 I hope this will answer all your questions. If not, well I'm here. :) P.S. Also, important, keep in mind I still didn't assembled my 75192 (it's a Christmas present so I'll open it on 25th), so I only tested the new engine on an LDD version of the Falcon. I (still) can't guarantee it will perfectly fit, until I'll try it for real! :) Just found this thread so I'm several weeks late to the party. I wanted to share my experience with this style mod in the hopes that it helps you with your efforts. A while back, I put together a similar mod for my 10179 based off original designs by Pepa Quin and Scottish Dave. (Model can be found here -> https://mecabricks.com/en/models/LGVjKJ0m2nz) At first, the design worked perfectly but the design's flaws started to show several months down the line. Specifically, the connecting pins at the far ends of the engine would slip out from the pressure being applied by the curvature of the engine itself. Maybe the use of two pins, as with your design, will overcome/prolong the longevity but you might want to consider some auxiliary bracing to help disburse the pressure elsewhere. I really love the resurgence in the interest of the UCS MF. Hopefully my experience helps inspire design improvements that we all can enjoy. Good luck! It's still completely together and looks great. I've just been looking at it - all this work on the new UCS has inspired me to revisit my old model! Aman Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 (edited) Done some modifications. 1. The gunner so you can actually see the Minifigs head 2. Made the rear back left parts of the ship removable like the right side. I basically copied the instructions for the right side and added the detail back on after. 3. Added an interior to the spare room and yes that LBG floor is really annoying lol. The interior consists of 2 beds, control panel, 2 doorways, piping area and some buttons on a wall. 4. Added a blue LED strip. Can’t really be seen but it’s there. 5. Filled the gap at the front. 6. Made a bigger cockpit and more detailed although all black. Pretty much all of the mods have been inspired off this forum. 1. https://gyazo.com/405b3fb9c3fd304fe799355c642cd2f3 https://gyazo.com/9fa8072e11560ca36fdb962aaa667aa5 2. https://gyazo.com/7c7c336f04de2c469a677955ce583d53 https://gyazo.com/c38430946f30e40c218fe062d8ca4d48 https://gyazo.com/a873cfac0e48ab2233aba447546ab959 https://gyazo.com/b2f97926c53d387ad985b6a03dc2b6f1 3. https://gyazo.com/dccf92da5a9bf86fa1ddabfedf1a5cef https://gyazo.com/8dd61bb6cb0b9850982fb8d4da269972 https://gyazo.com/9f38a2cfc301b3328a4c4c0fdfe37dc0 https://gyazo.com/43e07fe74753439fd90cb02b34f8443f 4. https://gyazo.com/59444185a1e2a076138ae148d0c08722 https://gyazo.com/147ce92a03d7ff7f89bd854830a439df https://gyazo.com/d574c72fa31997ee60167fde7b676eff https://gyazo.com/d7774540f1d1c2db3b9fcbd3c84f14d7 https://gyazo.com/c7fde491fc607d4d5a63be9ebe9450f9 https://gyazo.com/db74743b381cc44e06ad3bcda5031f58 5. https://gyazo.com/a7dc1a20a58bd41e6a674fb9e7203a6e 6. https://gyazo.com/9e014008fd8eaa73b9e4f19293056850 https://gyazo.com/02e883390b8fc561e49b95ec17624442 Edited January 11, 2018 by Aman Quote

Lock Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 (edited) Nice to see you tried the cockpit. :) Too bad, when I’ve built it, I realized Chewie si too tall and the top part of the cockpit can’t be correctly closed. I’ve experimented several modifications with no success, because making all seats lower won’t work (the rear seats bump into the back of the cockpit). I ended up removing seats and keeping them only for displaying mode (with open cockpit and minifigs or closed without Chewbacca): About the engine I had to modify it further, as it was too short and kept coming out from “holes”. I’m stil missing some piece, that’s why the strange colors but now it works: Edited January 12, 2018 by Lock Quote
Aman Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Thats weird, all 4 fit in mine with seats? Maybe I missed a part that makes it fit perfectly. Also, have you removed that rail 2x1 part thing cause that will make the cockpit go further back which means the windows can fit Chewbacca in them as towards the end they go bigger so it can fit his head.
