Spud The Viking Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) To enter into the world of sailing and discovery I need a ship; so without further ado, here she is: Bonnie, a Class 1 vessel that will be primarily used for trading, obviously not fighting. Though I'm not sure of she would be Class 1F or 1T? I was recommended to follow a 'Barracuda Bermuda Rigged Sloop' style so I hopefully resemble that in some way, it's my first time rigging a ship. And for the sake of @Mesabi it has an interior! A small cargo hold indeed! So there she be, a tad wee but she's still good looking, hence the name. Darnok Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Nice little boat you've got there. The sails look a bit improvised to me. Are they made of paper? You could print some pattern or your coat of arms on it. Quote
Bregir Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 She's a lovely little sloop, Spud. (What you are looking for is a "bermuda" rigged sloop, though ;) ) I think the rigging turned out really nice - what material did you use for the sails? I quite like the texture. As to stats, are you aware that you can design your own stats? A class 1 has 9 stat points to distribute, so depending on what you want her to do, you can customize her. Example if you want to use her for mid range trade you could go for something like this: Class Cost Stat Points Range Maneuver Firepower Crew Cargo Hull Sum (1-6) (1-6) (0-12) (0-12) (0-15) (0-12) 1 60 9 2 3 0 0 4 0 9 I think you might have been looking at the old links in the master index leading you to the old rules. I will look into fixing the links. Quote

The sails are made out of... wait for it... unused wallpaper. I had some lying around that is not the most appealing of colours and I thought would make a good improvisation for sails Quote
Bodi Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Very nice sloop! I like the custom hull, your rigging and the blue and black work very well together. Quote
Bregir Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Sorry, I just noticed I had made a mistake in suggesting stats - They should now be in order:) Sorry if it brought any confusion! Quote
Mesabi Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Nice ship Spud! Much nicer than my first ship on BoBS. And having an interior is always great! Quote

Garmadon Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Nicely done, Spud, a good looking little vessel indeed! That hull does work, and the sails are great as well! And interiors are always a plus! Quote
Kwatchi Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I like her a lot. A very clean build with striking colour contrast and you obviously put some effort into the sail plan. Best of luck on the seas in the upcoming week. Quote

blackdeathgr Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Nice one! We need more Bermuda rigged sloops around as these were the workhorses of that Era. I especially like the colors and the cargo compartment! My only nitpicking is that you should have continued the same angling at the upper section of the bow (much like you did using the hinged plate at the lower section (hopefully I've made myself understood ). Nevertheless your take on a Bermuda rigged sloop is waaaay better than my first BoBS ship of any type May the winds always blow at the right direction for you (ancient Oleander saying/wish)! Quote

I take it you mean sloping inwards, yes? If so then that is something I will consider how to do. Quote
