Shadows Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Thanks for the measurements Hinck! If you don't try Zelda, I will. Um. If you can't handle it, er, don't make her, no, that isn't it. I'd really like a crack at that one, no, dammit. You know what I mean, and you couldn't get drunk enough anyway. Hello Elfgirls! Now that's my idea of source material! Quote
Tacitus Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 All this talk of LEGO boobies and hooking up with LEGO and virtual elf women aside, the customs are very good. I think that the V2 fits the elf theme nicely in that LOTR kind of way. And, in contrast to others, I think it is the details of the torso decal that make it uniquely elf-like in that art nouveau kind of way. V1, however, looks more Arabian Nights, but that could be due to the Ninja princess head with the big eyelashes/extra eye make-up. Quote
Asuka Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 A wonderful work, Hinckley, that fine nuanced color scheme looks just marvelous. Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 (edited) I did have a visual reference: In fairness, she's not as good looking as those two :) Edited April 14, 2008 by Calvin Quote
Hinckley Posted April 21, 2008 Author Posted April 21, 2008 I followed the advice I got from a number of you, simplified design-more cleavage: Feedback much appreciated! Quote

Hinckley Posted April 21, 2008 Author Posted April 21, 2008 White cleavage? Yes cleavage does appear white when there's white fabric over it. You do realize there's more fabric above the bodice, right? Do I have to go back to the drawing board? Quote

Asuka Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Well, she´s a beautiful maiden for sure, but for a princess I would just prefer your previous a little more ornamented design.... Seriously, if you find this starts to get a little vertiginous you perhaps shouldn´t ask that much.... Quote

Shadows Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Ok, here we go again. I dunno... I can't quite pinpoint it, but she just doesn't feel right. Now I'll admit, I hate that head. I can't really explain it as anything other than "oh me, oh my, I'm staring at headlights." Still, that isn't it. Ah, first issue. Flesh. I never figured out why you switched over, and now I'm even more confused. I don't foresee a Castle line ever appearing in flesh, so why make her that way? She'll never be compatible with anything official. I realise it's an easy fix, but having yellow in the neckline will change how the rest of the outfit looks, so it's hard to judge here. Second issue will always be the cleavage. Dark shaded at the top and bottom again... Clearly, she must be lying on a bed with light casting a shadow in both directions somehow, because otherwise, it just isn't natural. Lighter at the top working your way to darker underneath is the key, or at least a solid colour for the top 2/3rds and then darker to make the inward curve underneath. I've actually been working on that Zelda a bit, and while it's horrid so far (so much crazy detail in there), I might post a WIP thread for it. It's spawning all kinds of weird ideas in my head, leading to alternatives that aren't even close to finished, but need direction. I have some simple cleavage in there. I'm also doing a new concept called "Pirate Princesses" that will feature famous female pirates and should eventually lend some cleavage inspiration (why are all famous female pirates described as stunningly beautiful?). So far, I've only done one, and I used stock parts for her (still looks good, mostly because it is the absolute perfect head) and then made a custom flag based on a design I found online. Is it accurate? Hell if I know, but it looks good. What does that have to do with this? Nothing. I can think of a few potential experiments to try, but not really explain them. The level of decoration now is good, but in losing some of it, something else was lost, I just can't get it into words. I always have to look up words with you... He's the only one that occasionally does it to me too... Quote
Sir Dano Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 (edited) The bottom half looks a little too fancy for the top now, imho. Also, the skin on the torso looks a little sunburned compared to the head... Other than that, lookin' good. Edited April 22, 2008 by sir dano Quote
Asuka Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 He's the only one that occasionally does it to me too... Yeah yeah.. ..it seems like my language skills´re indeed superior, at least when I continue with browsing through the dictionary in order to come up with the most antique and peculiar words I´m able to find.... Aah, peculiar.... Quote

Aah, peculiar.... I'm up for some piquant words! This princess certainly has an ethereal quality to her. I really like these and I think you did a great job. Though, the flesh that is showing needs to be corrected, unless it's supposed to be that color . Quote
