Posted February 16, 200817 yr Layout Hello everybody! My new version of Brickville opens today, so here it is a guided tour of my sigfig of the new version of Brickville. Hello! I'm Salvobrick, and welcome to the 2008 version of Brickville! This is the new cinema. Today's movie is... Star Wars! :) We have an hotel too. Maybe it is not a luxury one, but it's very confortable. Here is the cafe'. Ice-creams here are very big, arent' they? :) This is the post office. From here I can ship letters and parcels everywhere in the world. The barber's shop. I need to have a new haircut, one day or another... We care a lot about culture. Here it is our local bookstore. To the gorcer's we can buy the best fruits and vegetables. Here it is the Police station. Cool! A TV interview! I will be on TV soon! Let's visit the train station. How many people are waiting for the next train! This crane is very big! Collecting trash is very important to keep our town clean. Let's buy the newspaper now... Hmm... the news aren't very good... (the newspaper says: "Bank robbery") Let's have some fresh water from the fountain. This is the bank. Yum! I really need a good sandwich! I need to check my bank account at the ATM. This is the gas station. It's here since... 1958, I think ;) To visit the construction site I need to wear a safety helmet. Let's go up! What is there? Uh-oh... To go to the other side of the town, I need to take the bus. Nice garden, isn't it? Hello, kids! Hmm... the town is not totally safe... If you feel lost, here's the town plan. Now I'm back at home, with my wife. I hope you liked the tour :) Bye bye! :)
February 16, 200817 yr If I were a minifig and I needed a vacation, I would totally want to go to Brickville. I love the classic feel of this. It's an excellent little urban setting. Could we see some aerial shots of your whole layout? *sweet*
February 16, 200817 yr That's a very nice Lego Town, SalvoBrick! I like all these nice buildings and lovely details. The most I like the hot dog man with his wagon - that looks amazing and could well be a real Lego set! Very nice!
February 16, 200817 yr Very nice town Salvobrick! *y* It looks very complete, i mean it has it all! I like your building style, really has a classic feel. Like Hinckley, i'd like to see some areal shots too! Oh and...did that train ever arrive? :-D
February 17, 200817 yr A very fine town, i'm envious of it. I love the little features like the ATM machine, they really add to it *y*
February 17, 200817 yr A very realistic, lovely town you have! *wub* Great work.. I could only complain about no arial shots of it :'-(
February 17, 200817 yr I *wub* it! All the details you have added yourself like the town map and the names of all the buildings just makes it more realistic! Great job, can't wait for an aerial shot. ;-)
February 17, 200817 yr That's a nice bustling, little town. It's very reminiscent of Town sets from the 80s and 90s. Keep it up SalvoBrick!
February 17, 200817 yr Nice! Great buildings, and a nice tour! Drinking from the fountain sounds illegal though... 8-|
February 17, 200817 yr Superb Town! I like it a lot! any pics of a birds-eye view of the town? Maybe needs a bit more internal fixtures to make it more lively. :'-)
February 17, 200817 yr Very niceley organised layout, full of people and cars :-) A 8/10 from me :-) *y* Stauder
February 17, 200817 yr Oh... My.... little person above the clouds That is soooo beeeaaaauuutiful !! I really like the costum stickers. The Trash Hauler and the Bus are so real. Now the only thing i noticed (i don't blame you) I miss the interiors :-$ Oh and i saw some OldGrey and Bley mixed at the Construction Site .... yeah well thats me :-$ One final question: What trains are riding their regular service? ~ RupeeClock
February 17, 200817 yr Author Thank you for all the feedback :) The buildings are in a more realistic style than the "classic" 80's buildings. Infact they have a closed back and streets have sidewalks (grey plates). No interiors because: a) in closed buildings you can't really see the inside; b) I havent's enough bricks to build all the interiors forniture :) For those who want to see some aerial views, here there are some: There are no trains yet because... they're late :-D More pictures here when moderated: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=291429 Seeya! :-)
February 17, 200817 yr What a very nice town Salvobrick! I love all of your decals around the town like the little signs for star wars on the cinema! I love the fountainaswell! My favorite building is possibly the cafe-hotel! but I love the canopy on the grocers, how much space does this town take up? I'm wondering because this is the size of town i would like to make. One last thing, how did you get into that garden?! :-D I'm sure entry onto private property is against the law in your town! ;-) *y* Lovely and classic.
February 18, 200817 yr Thanks for the birdviews! I like to have an overall view of a layout, with some closer views. You've got a nice layout! Even if your buildings are more detailed than the classic lego sets, your layout has a classic feeling. There are so many things to look for. And the guided tour is an excelent idea to show us your town! The stickers are well done and are used right. I mean there are not so many of them and they are applied where we need them. It's funny to see how you have made your own version of official sets or parts of sets, like the garbage truck, or the toilets for the building site :-D Maybe you have done them before TLC... Great work!
March 4, 200816 yr Author The town has changed during the latest weeks... The cinema has been modified (even if the movie is still "Star Wars"... :-) ) The restaurant has now some outdoor tables. Finally, the train has arrived! :-) The new cargo train is ready, done entirely with set #10183. Seeya later! :-)
March 4, 200816 yr Very charming additions/modifications indeed and your trains and station look wonderful too! *y*
March 5, 200816 yr WOW! Your tour is a wonderful and pleasant one! I love the classic feel of your buildings. Small little realistics things such as the atm, maps, newspaper stand etc adds the whole real look to it. :-D I hope one day, i can do up a city just like yours. :-) Great job indeed!
March 5, 200816 yr Very wonderful, I'd love to see that cargo train. Plus I also love the restaurant. *wub*
