Transmission looks good. The only thing thaz eventualy can be said id to use red clutch gears because of contrast for easy parts differentiation

@I_Igor Red clutch gears have alignment problems with the light-gray extender pieces. Together they are just more than 2 studs in size. This is because the extender is designed for the old gera, which is asymmetrical and hence can have a 0.5 stud deep inset. The red gear is symmetrical and can't hvae a 0.5 stud deep inset at both sides because it is only 1.0 stud thick. Therefor, the ridges on the extender don't fall in to the red gear entirely and the result is that together they are slightly bigger than 2 studs.

Eric, thanks for explanation despite the fact that I suffered that kind of experience

I was just refering to looks. I know that my good friend @Leonardo da Bricki knows what I was thinking

@Didumos69 Oops. I had no idea yours was the same. I'll be changing mine anyways (probably, somewhat), I want a knob on top of the shift lever.

@Erik Leppen Hopefully, that will all change with the release of the Chiron...

@I_Igor Yeah, I knew what you meant. Besides, the red is too bright, so it's only on the brakes.

Today is Thursday, which means that tomorrow is Friday, which means the weekend (and progress) is less than 48 hours away! Update(s) coming soon!

Well here is friday and I hope to upload my pregress

I understand that on super / hyper cars disc calipers are in bright color...OK some pesants think that if they color their brakes in red that their VW golf will be faster...

QUICK UPDATE: Gearbox and shifter are nearly done!

I hope to finish it this evening. As the photos show, the transmission is connected to the rear axle now, and most of the temporary supports are gone. It is a bit bulky, more so than I had hoped it would be, but I should be able to work around it pretty well. I'll be attaching the front axle next, once I finish the shift mechanism. @Didumos69 I think I'll end up using one of yours, mine doesn't work as constantly, or as smoothly. Kudos to Didumos69 for the idea!!! I wasn't planning to make this a modular build, but it is turning out that way...

Thin liftarms are no problem, if the forces are in the right direction, which they are here. Also, there'four of them per wheel. No problem at all. There might be slightly more play (in the longitudinal direction of the car), but I don't expect it to be problematic.

You seem to have used an illegal pin connection though, for the 3L grey pins where the wheel hubs sit on. If you want to stay purist, I'd suggest 3L axles with stop and replace the red 3L beam with two half-beams.

Oops! You noticed! I currently only have a few of those axles, so for now, it is going to stay that way, as I will probably need them elsewhere. However, I might eventually replace the pins with dark bley axles with stud (?).

@I_Igor It is currently quite sturdy, braced well on both ends. Nothing to worry about. Besides it's a manual model, so no XL motors to break things.

In that case it could work

One week has passed, and that means...

IT'S TIME FOR AN UPDATE!!!

The chassis: Size has been (mostly) figured out, I'm still working on how to fit it all together, including HoG with a working steering wheel.

The gearbox/transmission/shifter: minor problem here... Currently, it has too much friction/stress in it. I will have to buy the frictionless 3L connectors for the gearbox. And probably change the shift mechanism as well. @Didumos69 Either I built it wrong, or (heaven forbid!) it doesn't work as well when coupled to a gearbox. Still tweaking it, I'll see if something works out...

Sorry for the low-quality photos, I'll (hopefully) have better ones tomorrow.

You need to use the frictionless connectors. The 90-degree limiter should enforce the right position of the driving rings. Did you include the 90-degree limiter?

Looks like you've got heaps though?

Thanks for the advice guys! I am planning to buy the parts I need... But I will have to get them from both Lego and Bricklink. :sceptic: Lego is sold out on some parts, and no one American seller on Bricklink has a reasonable price for all of the parts I need to get.

@Carsten Svendsen He was talking about the dark red axles with end stop, but I only have around 15 of them. The dark bley ones have a stud on the end, and yes, I have lots of those.

UPDATE: Gearbox Shifting Fixed

1. I am using a 1x4 L beam as a 90degree limiter currently, and it works better than previously... with the exception of the fact that the gearbox only shifts one way. However I have an idea that will hopefully work better. I'm hoping to use some connectors to get the required shift gate (?) I need for this to work and shift both up and down.

2. I'm waiting for one part to come back in stock, then I'm gonna place my parts order. Hopefully that will happen this week, and the parts will arrive the week after!

UPDATE: Gearbox Is Working!

1. I have made the gearbox work using some system parts to achieve a smooth(er) shift every 90degrees. It will work much better with the frictionless connectors once they arrive. Photos will come later tonight, or tomorrow, I need to clean up the mechanism first.

2. The parts order is being processed... And I got myself some parts not needed for this model, but a future one...

UPDATE: Trouble with the order...

I have had some trouble with my parts order, and it hasn't shipped yet. It should be shipped on Monday at the earliest, so no more progress on the model yet.

I'll get photos up this weekend, I've been working on streamlining a few parts of the model.

UPDATE: Gearbox and Shifter are complete!

The gearbox is complete, the shifter is (hopefully) at it's final design, but... I'm still waiting on parts to arrive. :sceptic: They should come before next weekend.

I am using some system bricks as the 90degree stepper and to ensure a full shift. 1x2 brick w/ axle hole, 1x2 plate, & 1x2 tile. I know it isn't centered properly, however, it works well enough. I may need to wrap another rubber band, or use a shock absorber to ensure it has the necessary strength, but when I get the frictionless connectors, it should be good.

Gearbox shifter is really nice

Thanks! I'm proud of it too. Can't test it fully yet, I don't have the parts, and I still haven't received confirmation of my parts order being shipped.

I know the feeling when parts are late and whole planning gets upside down...
