wulf Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I just read all of them last night in about an hour!Great comics they are so funny I'm even thinking about making my own comic! keep the laughs coming!!!! Quote
Batbrick Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 (edited) Thanks, Batbrick, I'm glad you're still enjoying it. My readership has had a sharp decline in the last week or so, by about half, according to the counter on the page, and I've gotten less comments all around. So I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong. Your comments are appreciated as always. That's fine, thanks for making it. I too was saddened at the decline of comments, your comic is a great one and deserves much better. I think zero1312 has taken a break though, he'll probably be back to comment later. Don't stop making them though, you've got a really great thing going here, and it seems a few more readers have raised their voices. I just watched all three Indy movies again in preparation for the new one, too. I hadn't seen Temple and Last Crusade in a long time and was surprised that I had forgotten a lot about them. And I realized there were subtleties I had missed when I last saw them in full as a kid. In a way it was like seeing them for the first time, so that was cool. Yes, that happened to me to, though I watch the Indy movies quite often (my father and I really enjoy them) there's always something new to notice. BTW, the next comic will explain more about the Indiana Jones movies still being around in the far future. Looking forward to it! Batbrick Away! Edited May 19, 2008 by Batbrick Quote
KDog Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 Wow, I get all down in the dumps 'cos I get very few comments, then suddenly I get a flood. Thanks, guys! :) Quote
KDog Posted May 20, 2008 Author Posted May 20, 2008 The next installment of my Indy tribute is up! Indiana Schwartz and the Temptress of Doom: http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=404897 Quote
Batbrick Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 (edited) I think this is my favourite issue yet. Seriously, it was that funny! I loved the whole "198th movie" and "Cloning program because of Harrison Ford's awesomeness" bits, but I think my favourite parts were "You've betrayed Shiva!" (I watched Temple of Doom yesterday so that was great), "What? You're a virgin!" and "man with a whip" parts, well written dialog right there Plus, Valkyrie being my favourite character (c'mon, she's a hot chick who steals things!) any strip with her and Schwartz is great. It's also great to see the story moving forward even in these specials, great work. Interesting to note, on your page a reader noted the "two black knight fetishists", obviously talking about the two strips where Schwartz and Valkyrie talk about the Space Agency and Blacktron being like the black Knights of the universe, respectfully. I noticed this a while back when I re-read the series, but forgot to mention that, great detail there. Batbrick Away! Edited May 20, 2008 by Batbrick Quote
DJ Force Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Aww. I sense a really cute love story in the making Seriously, you really manage to give them minifigs a personality. Very good work indeed! Quote
CP5670 Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 I love how Schwartz wears the Indy hat right on top of his helmet. That looks hilarious. I check this thread regularly even though I don't post that much here. There are probably a lot of other silent readers too. Quote
Inertia Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 That was great, can't wait to see the other ones in this strip The "How can I say no to a guy with a whip" line was funny, and the "189th movie in the series" line as well. These are getting better as they go on. By the way I recently bought myself a Mega Core Magnetizer 6989 beacuse of the M:Tron Bar Brawl Mania comic, it was hilarious! Quote

So I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong. Your comments are appreciated as always. KDog, don't worry. In fact, your comic strip is doing very well. You try your best to deliver constant parts within your dedicated time frame. For example if you said next monday it will be ready, I am very sure it will be ready for us to view on Monday. Your comic never fail to please and amuse us. Your comic strip is something that I will always remind myself to update it. Don't be dishearten, my friend Edited May 20, 2008 by WhiteFang Quote
Batbrick Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Hope you don't mind KDog, I'm just really hyped for Indy 4 coming out tomorrow (none of my friends or family can stand me right now!), so ONE more day to go till Indiana Jone and the kingdom of the Crystal Skull! As well as the third comic, looking forward to both And thanks Inertia for adding that to your sig Batbrick Away! Quote
Inertia Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 And thanks Inertia for adding that to your sig Hey no prob, except I couldn't work out how to make the picture a link... Can't wait for the next comic! Quote
KDog Posted May 21, 2008 Author Posted May 21, 2008 The support you guys give is unbelievable. Thanks so much! I'm glad readers are picking up on the small details, as well, as I do put thought into the small things and continuity. Both Schwartz and Valkyrie identifying with the Black Knight was a definite clue that they may have some things in common. Another one I'm not sure people noticed: When Schwartz and Galanos are standing outside the theater in a crowd of people, the Mars Mission astronaut and his mining robot that were featured in the second comic I ever did were there, and the xenophobic astronaut was staring suspiciously at the Martian next to him in line. BTW, I'll have to create a small link banner. I think what I'm gonna do is use a picture of the Classic Space logo, but replace the ship flying around the planet with the Gamma V Laser Craft. And I'll have a close-up of Schwartz next to it. Quote

Nice touch with the MM astronaut, I'll go back and look at that, good idea for a banner too, it would attract more people to your comic I reckon. Looking forward to your next one, I'm going to see Indy tonight so that's two-in-one! Batbrick Away! Quote
Dragonator Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 These are some cool comics, I just went and read all of them thanks to the advertising in Batbrick's signature. It seems promotion does occasionally pay off. I'm glad I did come read these though, they are hilarious, with some great one liners and an interesting and funny storyline. I'm going to follow this closely now, good job! Quote
KDog Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 (edited) The trilogy is complete! Indiana Schwartz and the Lust Crusade: http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=405288 And thanks, dragonator, and welcome. Edited May 22, 2008 by KDog Quote
KDog Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 Crap! I realized after I posted the comic that I left out two panels! I've fixed it and reposted it here: http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=407553 Quote
Batbrick Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Loved it, hilarious. Glad to see Shwartz got the girl, and some terrific movie lines there "Undead Nazi's, I hate these guys" "Fortune and Glory" "Junior" and so on. And a perfect ending with the Last Crusade sunset too. I admit i didn't like the 4th film however, so thanks for cheering me up. Batbrick Away! Quote
KDog Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 Sorry you didn't like the fourth film, Batbrick. I had mixed feelings about it. It was a little sloppy and seemed to be lacking some of the fun of the other films; it just wasn't as cohesive. The ending was somewhat confusing and was somehow a bit anti-climatic. The biggest problem I saw, though, was that Indy wasn't as take-charge as he should have been. It felt too much like he was just along for the ride at times. He got lost sometimes in what was an ensemble piece. All that said, I still found a lot to like in this film and want to see it again. I thought it was decent enough, but was surely the weakest of the four films. I know that Lucas, Ford and Spielberg have said Indy 5 is a possibility, and I hope it happens so that they have one more chance to make a great film. But I'm worried by how Lucas said his idea was to star Mutt and have Indy come along for the ride like Indy Sr. in Last Crusade. I think that happened too much in Indy 4 as it was. Indiana Jones should be the star of the Indiana Jones movies. Quote

Indiana Jones should be the star of the Indiana Jones movies. Yeah, I think my hatred for it has weakened a bit now, it did have some great scenes, but also a lot of disappointments. As you said, Indy got lost amongst the sea of characters, which I was already afraid of after seeing the trailer which shows him and four accomplices. I would hope for a fifth one, perhaps a lot more toned down, with a religious artifact, as ultimately the supernatural was far more interesting than the extraterrestrial. I mean, who honestly cared about the skull like the way they cared about the Ark or Grail? There was nothing in it for Indy like the other three films, thus finding something better (Marion - Raiders, a bit of honour - Temple, His dad - Crusade) was such a little effort. Alien artifacts had a good seed, but it was overdone with the whole saucer and whatnot. Anyway, sorry to be still chatting about this, if you want to keep talking, we can maybe discuss it via pm? Batbrick Away! Quote
Clonecommando007 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Yay! Schwartz got a Girlfriend! I love this. Never stop. That last episode was great! 'Undead Nazi's. I hate these guys'. Quote
KDog Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 Thanks Clonecommando. I get a lot of joy out of making these comics and discussing them with all of you, so I'll keep going as long as I can. Batbrick, we should be careful about spoilers, so I'll drop you a PM. :) Quote
Inertia Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Can we have a return of Lt. Walker? The Blacktron guy.... Oh and the Commodore and Snitchy Mcgee... They like... Tie Schwartz up or something... Or force him to try something new from thier 'Legit' business Quote
KDog Posted May 24, 2008 Author Posted May 24, 2008 (edited) I'm planning to bring back the other Blacktron guys pretty soon. The next few comics revisit another storyline I've needed to get back to. Edited May 24, 2008 by KDog Quote
