Inertia Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 I'm planning to bring back the other Blacktron guys pretty soon. The next few comics revisit another storyline I've needed to get back to. Cool! I Blacktron, anyway, hoping the next comics will be hilarious! Quote
KDog Posted May 25, 2008 Author Posted May 25, 2008 Okay, new story starts today! New Assignment (Part 1): http://drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=407328 Quote
Inertia Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 "That's all?" I think they may have been expecting something better So this is the return of Scouse and the UFOs? Can't wait Quote
Batbrick Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 (edited) Ah, that age old yet always funny twins act, i love that they have separate conscience yet also act as one. I'd hoped we'd see these two again, I'm really looking forward to how this ties together. EDIT: By the way, intentional or not, the lighting was wonderful in this one! I loved it, the shadows and dark, starry background made for a very plot oriented and militaristic mood. Batbrick Away! Edited May 26, 2008 by Batbrick Quote
KDog Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 (edited) Scouse, UFO and the 918 will all be seen again in upcoming weeks, although not all of them necessarily in the current story. Batbrick, thanks for commenting on the lighting. It was a combination of intent and discovery. I wanted to give the comic an X-Files-ish feel with the lighting, and even was gonna convert it to black and white because it was a flashback and would have elements of 1950s government UFO cover-up. But I ended up liking how it looked in color and decided to leave it. I was shooting at night and things were way too dark, so I used an unshaded lamp to light the scene. The shadows it cast were perfect for the mood I wanted. It was hot, though, and I'm not sure I want it to do it too often since I don't want the bright light to yellow my Legos. I have to try and shoot during the day. Edited May 26, 2008 by KDog Quote
Clonecommando007 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I don't see anything funny about the comic with the yellow twins. Maybe I'm just dumb or blind or something because these are usually hilarious. Quote
KDog Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 I sometimes do a comic that's not as much about humor as it is plot. I was mildly amused by the twins' bickering and intended their comment at the end to be sarcastic, but yeah, it wasn't hilarious by any stretch. Quote
Clonecommando007 Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Glad I wasn't missing out on any hilarious punchline or anything. But you've got your audience on the edge of their seats! Next comic quick! Quote
KDog Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 I'm just coming off an extremely busy half of my work week, but I think I'll have some time tonight to finish and post this week's second comic. Quote

It was still funny though, or at least, I thought it was.. KDog Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 Thanks, and sorry for the delay. I sat down last night with my girlfriend to watch this show called Monster Quest about mutant dogs on the History Channel (which is for some reason hung up on monsters and UFOs at the moment) and was gonna do a comic afterwards. Next thing I knew, it was this morning, and I was in bed without any memory of getting there. And I hadn't even been drinking! And darn it, I missed the end of the mutant dogs show! Quote
KDog Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 Okay, finally, here's the new comic! New Assignment (Part 2): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=410698 Quote
Clonecommando007 Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Bwahahaha!! Hahaha! Ha. Ok that really was funny. And I like how you put the guy's face in next to the text in a slide he wasn't in; that's a great way to show that he is saying the words. Funny stuff you've got! Hilarious! But Earth's bein invaded. Quote
KDog Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 I apologized if I caused any confusion. I wasn't intending to show Earth actually being invaded in the last panel; rather, that was an illustration of what President Weiss imagined might happen if Schwartz was part of Majestic Blue, starting a panic. Quote
Batbrick Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Great comic, I love that you used a little head icon to show who was speaking, good idea, kind of like having different coloured bubbles but different. The last panel is great too, the comic effect was definitely achieved by having a large panel. I got that Earth wasn't being invaded (or wherever it was) too. I'm interested in seeing where the twins go with this. Batbrick Away! Quote
zero1312 Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Ummmm.........! The comic won't show up. Only the cursed red X. Quote
Wilhelm screamer Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Ummmm.........! The comic won't show up. Only the cursed red X. Same problem here. Quote
KDog Posted May 30, 2008 Author Posted May 30, 2008 I think the comic's host was down earlier. It seems to be working fine now. Quote
Inertia Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Lol, excellent comic! I didn't know that the Gamma V was the fastest ship in the galaxy. Great work again! Quote
Clonecommando007 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 It seems that many people think that the earth indeed is being attacked. Will this affect your desicion for how you'll make the next comic? Quote
KDog Posted May 30, 2008 Author Posted May 30, 2008 It seems that many people think that the earth indeed is being attacked. Will this affect your desicion for how you'll make the next comic? No, I have different plans. Maybe I'll clear up the confusion in dialog in the next comic. Wouldn't be the first time I did that, lol. I'm not saying Earth won't be attacked, just not yet. ;) I thought it would be cool if Schwartz had the fastest ship, even if it was akin to an old hot rod. I noticed that Lego made only like three vehicles that had the solar panel design, so I thought it would be neat to interpret that as it being a design scheme and technology that never fully got off the ground, yet Schwartz prefers the older ship that happens to have a speed advantage. Of course, how does he use it? To get to the store as fast as possible to buy ice cream! Quote
