KDog Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 Great, it's cryptic. It seems to be working now, though. I'm thinking the site might be having temporary difficulties around this time of night because that's when a lot of comics automatically update. I might get my own site one of these days, but that day is not today. Quote
Batbrick Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Ah, it's working now! I'm guessing like most mini-arcs this is the end of this bit for now? I love the "It's a classic!" reference too, very sly. The twins are great, not very original, but you've given them a nice slant, especially with their own self awareness ("Lets not overdo it now"). I look forward to seeing where this goes, I was hoping you'd return to the Captain Dash storyline. My one criticism is that the second twin is a little awkardly positioned in the second last panel, falling over perhaps? Batbrick Away! Quote
Clonecommando007 Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Oh yes! The mystery 918 ship! "It's a classic!" Great comic this time, not as funny as last though. But good plot line work! Quote

My one criticism is that the second twin is a little awkardly positioned in the second last panel, falling over perhaps? Batbrick Away! I wasn't sure how to handle this arc. The story about the search for the 918 is something I have planned out pretty well, and I almost decided to just tell it on one unbroken narrative over the next couple of months, because I wasn't sure how to break it up. But I didn't want to ignore all the other storylines and characters during that time, do I decided to tell the 918 story in chunks. I'm planning to do two more comics after today about the beginning of the twins' mission, though. I think they'll get a little more back to the humor. I know the idea about twins who have a mental connection has been done before. I thought I was being somewhat original in that one twin is more like Freud's Ego and Id (Vance), and the other more like the Superego (Lance)- all parts of the same mind that diverge briefly and then compromise into one. Maybe it has been done before and I just haven't seen it, or maybe I just need to explore that more. The twin in the second-to-last panel (Vance) was positioned that way on purpose, like he's jumping up in excitement. Quote
zero1312 Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Another good one, but it's time for a new part that's truely hilarious. Quote
Inertia Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Excellent strip! Lance and Vance are pretty funny, along with the President's comment: "Those guys creep me out a little." Great! Quote
KDog Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 Zero, I think you'll be amused by the next couple weeks of comics. I just got done with a really long writing and photo session and I was laughing as I took the pictures. Granted, who knows how others will see it? Quote
KDog Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 Today's comic is something a little different. As I was wrapping up yesterday's photo shoot, an idea for a whole long storyline and new character hit me within seconds. Bam! There it was. It's not something I want to really explore until I wrap up other plot threads, but I was compelled to at least create a "Preview," which is the name of today's comic. There's more Gemini twins and comedy-based stuff coming up this week and next as promised, but today's comic is more like a Twilight Zone than Monty Python. :-) Preview: http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=411888 Quote
Wilhelm screamer Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Freaky and tantalizing at the same time.... Quote
KDog Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 Wilhelm Screamer, did you catch the Wilhelm Scream in Indy 4, in the library scene? Quote
Wilhelm screamer Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Wilhelm Screamer, did you catch the Wilhelm Scream in Indy 4, in the library scene? Yes, I saw that movie last sunday and absolutely loved the inclusion of Ben Burt's audio signature. Quote
Batbrick Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Nice! I wasn't expecting something like this, I love it. As you say, very reminiscent of the Twilight Zone, you only needed a Rod Sterling intro to complete the effect! I am a huge fan of the mysterious, so this was great to me. Don't you just love it when that happens? When a wonderful idea pops into your head. I had something akin to this recently when I looked at the Agents sets and was compelled to wach my entire James Bond collection from Dr.No to Casino Royle. Er....anyway, looking forward (way forward seeing as this won't be picke up for a while) to this plotline, thanks for sharing. Batbrick Away! Quote
Inertia Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Great new comic, I love Lance and Vance, they're hilarious, I see that we have the M:Trons and Roboforce guy in the bar again. Great job so far, 50 Comics and all excellent! Quote
KDog Posted June 2, 2008 Author Posted June 2, 2008 (edited) Today's comic is the 50th one I've done. Yay, milestone! Iron Moose Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I've never heard that song. But Another Irish Drinking Song, by Da Vinci's Notebook, is better. Quote
KDog Posted June 2, 2008 Author Posted June 2, 2008 I've never heard that song. But Another Irish Drinking Song, by Da Vinci's Notebook, is better. I'll have to check it out. Truth is, there's a lot of great drinking songs! Quote
Scouty Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I don't think I have commented on these yet. Awesome comics, I really love them. Style, look, story. All great. And I am loving the Twin Story arc now . Oh, and happy 50th comic! Quote
Wilhelm screamer Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 The last panel suggests that someone stole the engines. Is this true? Quote
zero1312 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 You kept you're promise. I laughed loud on this one. Quote
Batbrick Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Wow! A flood of comments here KDog! I love this one, great to see a bit more comedy, the Twins getting drunk is definitely a highlight of the series. I'll have to look up tht drinking song... May I recommend though that the nxt milestone comic be a "special"? Batbrick Away! Quote
KDog Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 The last panel suggests that someone stole the engines. Is this true? I wasn't thinking of that specifically. I just was presenting this vague images of a bunch of drunk guys riding around in a wheelbarrow with a rocket engine strapped to the back. Batbrick, I had different thoughts about what to do for the 50th comic. The first thing I had planned was to make a couple of comics that finally presented the cast of characters and bios for each, filling in some of the blanks. But I decided to hold off on that, since most readers know who most of the characters are. The second thing I was going to do was make the 50th comic what will now be 51st, but it's not necessarily special, just an idea for a joke I've had for a long time and like. The next storyline will touch on several different characters, so that should be fun. But I decided in the end that while 50 was a nice accomplishment in terms of creating webcomics, it wasn't as great as reaching 100 or 500, so I just went with another comic that took place in the bar, where one of the best received stories to date took place, and have it be celebratory in nature (with the drunken antics). But it was a comic that was planned anyway, even if not #50. Quote
