KDog Posted July 13, 2008 Author Posted July 13, 2008 erm ok.. is enchanted island the mystery set? LOL, NO. You'll see the mystery set, which is fully space, in the next story. Quote
Batbrick Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 , this is fantastic: "Say what now?" I'm about as confused as I'll ever be over how he ended up here, looking forward to finding out. I have to say though, no offense but the background is a bit dull in this one, if you managed to get a bit more blue in to make it sunny then i'm sure it would look better. Batbrick Away! Quote

I guess it's a little dark. I generally tone down the blues since they are overwhelming on the laptop screen. This was a difficult shoot since the only way I could seem to prevent the reflection on the screen that day was to tilt the screen downwards, but that made it darker. I'm still figuring out the lighting issues 60+ comics in. But I think the jungle scene in the next comic coming up looks good. It's funny you say dull, though, since I just shot a storyline with an all-black background created from cushions. Quote
Inertia Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Inertia, have fun on your sales conference! I look forward to seeing more of your Space reviews when you get back. Was it the AERO-Module that was next? I just caught up, that 'Gods of Rock' strip was pretty hilarious, as for returning to Scouse, that was pretty much my favorite, it's hilarious. The Sales conference was a bit of a dive, but I did get some Agents sets, and when I got back I got the two Spyrius Robos and the Gamma V. The next review was the Stardefender, I have the pictures uploaded, I'll get it up tomorrow. The comic is still Awesome! Quote
KDog Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 New comic! Up now! Hope you got some complimentary drinks, at least. Also congrats on the new acquisitions. I don't have the Spyrius robos, although they are cool. And you know I love the Gamma-V, my self-dubbed "fastest ship in the galaxy." I look forward to your Stardefender review. What are your thoughts on the Agents sets, btw? Quote
iamded Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 "Hambibble." Another great addition, I wonder what Scouse will do next. ~Peace Quote
DJ Force Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 What is a Hambibble? *lol* Excellent. Nicely random appearance of that polar bear Quote

I look forward to your Stardefender review. What are your thoughts on the Agents sets, btw? Yeah, the Conference soon became boring, however they did take up the deal, financing more Space sets from my bonus, yay! You should consider getting the Spyrius Robos, the bigger one is an awesome, yet painful set to build... Because it is quite flimsy in some areas... Anyway, I was roomed with the sick guy and he turned out to know where the agents sets where and I went and got them, the faces and robotic Arms are a good addition to any space or town themed display, especially Spy-clops, he's my fave, although he looks better in the Mission 6 set, as he doesn't have that weird grill... Also soon I will have my Moonbase up on the site, although it's proving difficult to have so many ships in one area... Also the high amount of yellow Futuron figs... every Futuron set I buy has at least one! Also great strip! "Hambibble" Edited July 15, 2008 by Inertia Quote
KDog Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 (edited) Inertia, you have co-workers who are also into Legos and know where to find them? Awesome! One thing I love about going out of town is visiting toy stores and seeing if they have stuff my locals stores haven't gotten in. And I like that you work harder to be able to afford more Legos. Good a justification as any! "Hambibble" is just a random, nonsense muttering by Scouse do his discomfort with the fawning Lydia. Edited July 15, 2008 by KDog Quote
Batbrick Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Another great comic, the lighting was much better in this on and I loved the Lost parody. The hambibble quote was also amusing. And please don't take my previous comment offensively KDog, I didn't mean to sound rude, I just thought the background was not bright enough for paradise Batbrick Away! Quote

I wouldn't say he was 'into' LEGO, as he had bought some for his kid, but that silly grin was enough to tell he was lying... Anyway, it's simple work ethic... More work... More LEGO! Getting LEGO that isn't available to you in your home country is awesome. Scouse is discomforted... 'Hambibble' made me laugh when I read the strip, it's pretty hilarious! Batbrick Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Great job getting the Tygurah set KDog, I got it a couple of months ago and did a review, it really is fun. It does fit perfectly here too. As always Scouse is hilarious, I especially love the last line. The crystal skull cameo is a very nice touch too. And one other thing, the lighting is absolutely spectacular here, probably your best yey I'd say, it really gives the jungle its own atmosphere Batbrick Away! Quote
KDog Posted July 19, 2008 Author Posted July 19, 2008 Best punchline ever!!!! LOL, thanks, but you're too kind. :) Quote

KDog Posted July 21, 2008 Author Posted July 21, 2008 (edited) I would love to put out a book of the comics. It would be nice to have them there to read all in one volume, on the bus or on the train or on your couch. And I'm pretty sure it would sell. (Although I would need to redo the first 55 comics for better image quality! Hopefully the PNG comics that I'm doing now would look fine in print.) But even if I didn't use the word "Lego" anywhere in the book, I imagine Lego would take issue with the book. I have heard that they are lax when it comes to unofficial books, though. There are other collections of comics (granted, not using Lego's set designs) and books on how to build Lego creations. What I am doing is very similar to Twisted Toyfare Theater in Toyfare Magazine, which uses known superheroes and other characters and tells stories that are both humorous and parodies of the more serious properties to which they refer. Toyfare even sells book of just their comics, but I don't know what the arrangement is. In the end, yes, it would help out a lot to sell books, especially with all the time I put into doing the comics, but I think I have to keep doing it for fun if I don't want to bring down copyright wrath. There's also other potential problematic issues (song lyrics, etc.). What's most important to me is the joy I get out of telling the stories I have in mind, and I want to be able to continue to do that. If I make no money from it and it's not painting anything in a bad light, then hopefully I can avoid negative attention. I do hate having to worry that someone is going to come down on me about something. What would be awesome is if one day Lego approached me to do comics in my style for their Web site or their magazine or something. I think it would be cool if they created fiction that appealed to their base of adult collectors (but that kids could enjoy, too). Lego could say, for example, "We want a series of photo-comics telling stories and giving characterizations to the new Pirates line for 2009," and that I would do. Granted, I would need samples of the sets to do so. :-D Edited July 21, 2008 by KDog Quote
zero1312 Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 I've been wondering when you're coming up with this punchline. Hilarious as always. Quote
