Batbrick Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Yay, they're back! I'm starting to see how the whole thing is coming together now, did it take longer than you thought to do so? Batbrick Away! Quote
KDog Posted August 11, 2008 Author Posted August 11, 2008 Old Friends (Part 3): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=444372 To answer your question, Batbrick, yes, it is taking longer than I originally thought to tell the story. I originally estimated that the first "season" of stories would be done in 100 comics. Wrong! But a lot of ideas came up along the way that I thought were cool or funny and I don't mind that this is taking longer. Quote
Adam Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I see Shwartz is trying to listen in on their conversation ! Hilarious, as usual. Keep up the good work! Quote

Thanks for that answer KDog, I have to say it is probably better this way, you've definitely put a lot of work in to it. As for the new comic, this is oner of my favourites of the recent ones. I love Lance and Vance, and the conversation between them and Captain Amarillo was not only hilarious, it really reminded me of all the paranormal bits going on. Plus Shwartz peeking through the window was great too, you should do more sight gags, they really are nice touches. Oh and I should probably mention also the lighting in this one, damn it was good! I mean, pretty much all your recent ones have had excellent lighting, but this one really gave me that "space" feel. Batbrick Away! Quote
KDog Posted August 11, 2008 Author Posted August 11, 2008 Thanks, Batbrick! As for the lighting, this was shot using the television as a backdrop, and I guess it functions as an even better light source. The TV can be more of an undertaking to use, which is why I normally only use it with Lego sets that are too big for the laptop screen, basically any bases or large ships. Quote
KDog Posted August 11, 2008 Author Posted August 11, 2008 On another note, Lego: Space will reach 100 comics in a couple of months. My 50th comic wasn't a big deal, even though it had a party theme, and some readers indicated they would have liked something more special. At the rate I'm going, I think the 100th comic is going to happen somewhere in the story where you FINALLY get to see Schwartz's date with Valkyrie. (The week since they made the date at the Indiana Jones premiere has gone real slow!) But then it would be just another comic. What I could do is hold off that story just a little and do something special for the 100th comic (and maybe the comics immediately before and after it). So, if you have any suggestions, I'd like to hear them. It can be a story you want to see, something that breaks the fourth wall, something more informational about the comic, whatever. I'm open to suggestions. Quote
Scouty Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Funny comic, KDog. I'm really liking this story Arc! Glad that you brought back the twins, one of my most favorite characters on the comic! Quote

DJ Force Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Very good! I wish it was possible to make a printed version of your comic. It´s superb! Quote
Inertia Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Very good!I wish it was possible to make a printed version of your comic. It´s superb! I can see the headlines now, 'LEGO Enthusiast make millions from Webcomic!" Maybe he should buy a printing press... Quote

Maybe a big celebration or some such. I'd love to see some credits in it and a totally different style to indicate it being special too. It could be real long I reckon, the longest one yet ( ) and be its own self contained story. I'll try and come up with more ideas later. Batbrick Away! Quote
KDog Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Cool, Batbrick, thanks. Old Friends (Part 4) is up: http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=445927 Quote
BerndDasBrot Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 great job! I really enjoyed the fourth last panel (with the Duplo whale...!) spoiler, concerning the aliens: I suppose they came from the planet of hills and will easily find us there. Quote
KDog Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Hahahahahaha!"Just kidding" - Great! Yes, and meanwhile, the universe shat itself. ;-) Quote
Batbrick Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Cool, Batbrick, thanks.Old Friends (Part 4) is up: http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=445927 That's okay! Love the new comic, great to see DACTA in all its incompetence again. Plus the reports were funny, love the sea cow too. By the way, did you manage to snag that DACTA set? Batbrick Away! Quote
KDog Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 The final part of "Old Friends" is up: http://drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=446029 Iron Moose helped me out with the DACTA set, and for an excellent price, much lower than I ever thought I would pay for it. It doesn't have all the cards and the carrying case, but that's okay. Now I just have to figure out how to build the set seen in pictures, since there's no instructions. Not a task for the impatient! Great to hear you got it! How far are you in the building stages? Love the new strip, all great comedy must make atleast one jab at Scientology Batbrick Away! Quote
KDog Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 I figured that Christianity has opponents who worship Satan, so why shouldn't Scientology have evolved in the future to have people who follow Xenu? I'm not very far with the DACTA set, lol. Just haven't had the time. (Been trying like heck to get a new job.) I only got the top section of the main building done, which I think is the easiest part. Such an inspired idea, I like Xenu's look, quite retro! Plus stealing an apple that is key to humanity's survival is so random it's good. As for the DACTA set, may I see a pic please? You said it was for 350, how much did you get it for? Batbrick Away! Quote

You can see it here: http://www.lugnet.com/fibblesnork/lego/gui...set/9355-1.html It's complicated how I got it. LOL Long story short, I traded him about $100 worth of stuff. Quote
