Adam Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 (edited) HA!! You made me laugh so much that I gave you a Chris Matthews laugh! Seriously, RLF 5 is awesome. The Blackron reference was a nice touch, and the "is she hot?" line was pure genius. BTW, what does RLF stand for? Edited September 10, 2008 by Adam Quote
KDog Posted September 10, 2008 Author Posted September 10, 2008 (edited) I was going to explain the name of this story in the comments section of the next comic, but I might as well do it here. The intent of this story was to make it like a sitcom, with the adventures taking place at Schwartz's houses and involving laughs about domestic issues. RLF stands for Robotic Life-Form, and is a parody of ALF (Alien Life-Form), a sitcom about a family that takes in an extraterrestrial and tries to hide him from the authorities and neighbors. So, this whole storyline is an ALF parody. lol I even threw in a reference about mistaking cats for food. In fact, the "nosy neighbor" sitcom archetype appears in the next comic. DJ Force Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I love ALF. Maybe you can incorporate a reference to some of the very best ALF-jokes? e.g. Alf: Where´s Kate? Willie: Taking a shower. Alf: Okay (leaves) Willie: He wouldn´t... Lynn: He could...! Kate (Off): UAAAHHH! Willie: He did. Quote

Inertia Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I had a feeling it was Robotic Life Form, however, I've only watched one episode of ALF, I finally got myself a blue futuron minifig I picked up in a Lego store! I also got my hands on the 30th anniversary minifig pack. Hehe, Shwartz is a good liar, especially in front of the police. Quote
Batbrick Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Great new ep, I love Shwartz total bluff to the police, how could they be that stupid? But of course the best joke is the "is she hot?" Batbrick Away! Quote
KDog Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 Look at it this way. Schwartz may have fooled the police for now, but it's never that easy. Quote

Especially since G-bot and Angela now have children... Botlets? Maybe Roboveggiefables could be a reoccuring theme, I actually have an idea about that... Quote

I'm glad I didn't just call it Veggie Tales. ;-) They're the baby-bots! Quote

Wilhelm screamer Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 You really succeeded in your sitcom-like feeling you tried to give this one. However, after part 5, the punchline feels like a let down by comparison. But still funny. Quote
KDog Posted September 13, 2008 Author Posted September 13, 2008 (edited) I think the ending of Part 6 is more a revelation that a punchline. It's always interesting to me how the humor will be received. When I wrote th script for this story, I thought Part 6 was the funniest due to its outrageous nature and that Part 5 was almost a throw-away, but people seemed to really like the punchline in Part 5. I also think I sometimes put the funniest parts in the middle of a comic instead of at the end. The next comic, for example, has a line in the second or third panel that I think is the most amusing part. But I'm not always going for a traditional comic strip joke set-up. Sometimes it's about drama or sentiment. Edited September 13, 2008 by KDog Quote

Batbrick Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Great new comic KDog! Love the double reveal (She WAS in his house, and those were hot buns! ). You definitely achieved the sitcom feel I believe, perfected in this one with little camera change. Batbrick Away! Quote
Pencoin Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 That was really funny I can't wait for the next comic now! Quote

Batbrick Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Hahaha, that's brilliant. Love the reference to the upcoming date, a spy an injoke at how delayed the date has become. Love the "criminal" line too. Still looking forward to that date! Batbrick Away! Quote
