Batbrick Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I could have sat there with LEGO, acting out the scenes as I recorded, but I didn't think that would be very interesting to the listener. ;-) I don't know, it could have been quite funny: "Shwartz stood defiantly atop the ruins, thinking back to his only moment of - Oh crap! The studs came loose! Give me a sec...." Awesome, hope you enjoy! Well I'm taking a bit longer than I thought sorry, but it's finally downloading as I post. Actually, as I type this second sentence its finished. I'll listen to it soon, but Doctor Who is first; priorities I'm sure you understand As for the new series of Doctor Who, I'm really digging it. The stories have been solid (although I'm only current as of the Dalek episode) and I think Matt Smith is quickly forging his own way as a Doctor I really like. At first I thought he was just a Tennant rehash, but he has improved and comes across as older and more humble and likeable. Granted, I miss the days of less manic Doctors. Also, the new season seems less childish than a lot of Tennant's era, dropping some of the cheesball stuff that used to make me cringe. Ooh, you're in for a treat with the next two-parter then! Agreed on the Tennant silliness too, I love that "Dark Fairytale" style the show is going for, both scary and sweet. -Thomas Quote
Sonic Screwdriver Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Something I'd been meaning to bring up about "Lunch Time" - Part 20. When The Doctor goes back to the Future to talk to President Schwartz, Schwartz says that he messed up pretty bad, and The Doctor replies that "Earth will never be the same". I take it that something much worse than the Blacktron attack happens as a result of Ronald Galanos' time travel misdeeds? Quote

Batbrick Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 "Shwartz stood out like a hot chick at a comic convention" "Maybe he had turned left at generic rock field #475 when should should have gone through that chasm that looks just like that other chasm #61"" "An altogether meaningless measurement..." The breakdancing order still makes me laugh. "Before his on-demand rental fee was wasted! WASTED!" "I-Martian" And the fecal bag just crossed the line twice into hilarity. I'll probably watch the second half tomorrow. Batbrick Away! Quote

I feel sorry for Mr. Wobbly Droid. He seems fairly intelligent, yet he is compelled by programming to follow Ronald's inane schemes... Quote

Sonic Screwdriver Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 The "hat on top of hat" has always amused me. How do you get the chef hats to stay on Ronald's Agency helmet and Mr. Wobbly Droid's antenna? Best "hat on top of hat" is still the crown on the "future" President Schwartz! Quote
Batbrick Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Shrimp curried tacos aren't recommended You're horribly extended feces rant from Shwartz crossed the line so many times it was hilarious, the "You are troubled..." was a perfect deadpan. Also, feeling ones stomach dropping into your pants can't feel good. And I'm in agreement with Shwartz, his instincts suck ;D The circular path Shwartz took was a funny reveal too. You've definitely got a good Hitchhiker's vibe here, the martians growing fond of the cart especially. Barfing in the helmet; a comic callback to the first scene of Galanos and Shwartz together? And of course Shwartz would choose the UV-9 siply because it looked cool and would get him laid 34: 28 - "Ironically, he had ended up with the fashtest ship in the fleet" you adopted a bit of a Brooklyn accent there! I honestly loled at the women joke, probably my favourite one yet at the point of typing this". And the cart's nostalgia returns! The destruction of innocence caused by naked fanart cartoon characters is certainly something I can see Shwartz doing. I don't care how stupid Shwartz can sometimes be, whenever something disgusting is in front of me, I'll think of kittens too! And you officially win the awards for most disgusting, and repeated describing of human feces of the year! So sorry it took me so long to listen to the second half KDog. I'd say I was busy, but honestly I'd completely forgotten for a bit, and then it just became embarrassing. The second half was just as enjoyable as the first, perhaps even more so. Now, I don't like to sugarcoat everything, so I'll list my criticisms. When reading a long sentence you often sound as if running out of breath by the end, which is more than likely. Also, some of the accents would occasionally falter, and the audiobook probably sounds a little too manner of fact for some of the content, which makes it a little jarring when your voice changes to a more excited tone. A slightly more casual voiceover (that is, still matter-of-fact, just not so overtly) might sound better. Also, I think the description of the UV-9 went a bit long. My problem isn't really the length however, just that it was all in one chunk, I think a description sprinkled over such as when the ship is referred to during the search could make it more natural. Now that sounds like a lot, but I am being honest when I say it was really enjoyable, witty and certainly a fantastic job for your first audiobook. And you definitely pin down how Shwartz speaks as well. I hope you make another one. And Batbrick, I'm glad the lines you found amusing were the same ones that amused myself. :-D The second half was even funnier, I enjoyed the juxtaposition between slightly more high brow humour and references and beyond the impossible feces descriptions. Anyway, my usually late reviews. I read these a while ago, but I was too embarrassed by how long it took to finish the audio I didn't dare enter this thread How to Succeed in the Hamburger Business Without Really Trying Part 1: She-Hulk wins, Wonder Woman is hot but she can't beat the Hulk's cousin. But Wonder Woman and She Hulk is actually an awesome, awesome idea. As is Captain South America, I would buy the hell out of that series! I see that your statement about Ronald not returning in a while was entirely false :p But I'll let is slide, because though I thought I was going to be "Ronalded Out" this was great. How to Succeed in the Hamburger Business Without Really Trying Part 2: Ronald's idea is hilariously fitting for his character. Not as good as part 1, and I noticed a big lighting change in the last panel, but still good and I'm hoping this story will be a part of the larger arc, as I'm wondering if Ronald's playing a part in it... Ronald may have trouble procuring these at an economical price... unless he brings that time machine into play again... Quote

Sonic Screwdriver Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 I'd scream, too. Hahaha I hate horror movies, but I do enjoy the horror aspects of this comic. I remember that Schwartz and Galanos also ran away screaming when they found Captain Dash's desiccated corpse inside the 918, LOL Quote
