October 30, 20177 yr The press release is available from The Brick Fan. It appears the updated price is $370 USD, about $450 CA, €300 UK. Not a day one for me, but I have always loved this model...
October 30, 20177 yr Well, I’m shocked it’s not more bricks then 75192! i hope the improved the 4 small towers.... They where so wobbly.

October 30, 20177 yr I just got the email, $370 is a far cry lower than the resellers on ebay and other places. They are going to be a tad hacked off I would guess. I doubt they are improving the set at all, but it is nice to be able to pick this up for folks who missed it the first time. I wonder if TLG will make this a standard practice? Always need an extra brick separator to go with the other 200 I have already.
October 30, 20177 yr Big surprise. Between this, the new UCS Falcon remake, and the Death Star update; it's showing Lego recognizes the demand for these old sets. It will hopefully burst the collectors bubble and prevent Lego fans from buying knock-offs from "the Chinese companies which can't be named"

October 30, 20177 yr I think we're going to be seeing more sets rereleased in an attempt to curtail Chinese knock off brands. Still, excellent news! The Taj Mahal is an excellent set, and it's great to see it brought back into the spotlight!

If LEGO sets are always available, they aren't special anymore. Why should I buy them when I know I can get them at Lego's price, whenever I want? Or, to put in into Shop @ Home terms - the "Retiring Soon" tag means nothing as a sales pitch, if I start thinking it'll be back soon enough.

Lego sets are mass-produced consumer products that anyone with the right amount of money can purchase, its pretty much the opposite of special. If you want special then MOC.
October 31, 20177 yr "Cut corner, reduce develop costs, and just pump something out?" Jeez... who ruined your day today? That is awfully pessimistic. This is far from the first time Lego has re-released something either, they did it with the Metroliner and Fort Legorado sets long before they did it with the Death Star and Taj Majal. I am happy to see these re-releases. Lego is a collector's hobby sure, but it shouldn't be a scalpers hobby. Lego should rule their market, not re-sellers on eBay and Bricklink; or worse Lepin's reverse engineered crap, and by returning an old set like this back to production it is Lego clearly reminding that at the end of they day they rule the market. I am happily awaiting the return of other sets like this if Lego continues the trend. Heck even sets I own already (the Emerald Night for example) would be great to see a re-release because I'd be willing to purchase it a second time.

The first one was released nearly a decade ago. Edited October 31, 20177 yr by Vindicare

Just because one came back doesn't mean that every single set will get a rerelease. Plus this set has been gone for a long time.
October 31, 20177 yr I think its great bringing back an old set like this. Put those "Buy It Now" bastards in their place if you know what I mean... Besides, this is such a beautiful set, it deserves a re-release.
October 31, 20177 yr This is awesome. Is it truly a straight rerelease? 6 hours ago, Alpinemaps said: Well, it shows that LEGO is willing to cut corner, reduce develop costs, and just pump something out for a quick buck. LEGO is inherently special for reasons having nothing to do with scarcity or aftermarket value. If a mere rerelease of a set is enough to kill its appeal for you, you're probably not getting what's really great about it as a LEGO set, and if you want it solely as an investment you might as well be putting your money into any number of other things that are actually meant to be investments.

Sounds like someone just lost a lot of money with this release I think it is to stop the Chinese pirates, the scalpers were just collateral damage.. My main concern is that if there is to many re-releases, the old sets will take a place in the shop from a new one, but I think Lego have tried this enough to now that a new set sells better than a re-release. I would be fine with a "re-release" of some old classics like pirates, Indians and castle if they make them with the standard of today's bricks and building technique, but I do not see it happening. It is a reason why we get a new police station every year..
October 31, 20177 yr Can someone please tell me the retail price in EURO of the old 10189 Taj Mahal? It is important. I can tell it was $299 but I lack the price in €

While I'd presume most train fans would rather see an all new Creator Expert train set, I myself would love to see a re-release of the Emerald Night! How about though, instead of just merely a complete remake, how about a recolored remake of the set? Perhaps the set could be recolored in either Earth Blue or Dark Red, with a corresponding altered name also (Sapphire Night as opposed to Emerald Night, for instance). If that were to happen though, I'd like to see the locomotive come with both large and small wheels in colors matching the main color scheme, as opposed to simply black wheels.
October 31, 20177 yr Author Okay guys, let's not turn this into a "re-release wish topic". You can create a new topic if you like, but there is probably already a future set wish topic.
