Now that I see what it looks like with an extra stud on both sides, I think the thinner version looks better.  With the addition of the 1x5 lift arm, the bodywork does not flow as nicely.

I think I have a way of making it look good at 7 studs (a way to remove those 5l liftarms). I'll post a picture here tomorrow, and if it doesn't work, I'll change the width to 6 studs.

You could gain ideal proportions in scale about 1:13.5 (real tires are 1428mm and you have 107mm)...

Makes sense. I'll try that.

That is the way I'm makeing all my MOCs

Why don't you use the small turntable for the rear excavating arm? Using only the 24z gear and worm gear isn't sustainable in my opinion. Gravity will pull the arm to the back and thus apply pressure on the 24z gear as well as the axle going through it. And the worm gear is only secured on one end, so it is more prone to wobble while transmitting the motion.

I think it is a good idea full design, but the worm gear attachment is bad, and what is that 3l connector on the back for? Steering?

Makes sense, I can try that. Though, I must tell you that with this setup, everything in terms of crane rotation works just fine.

And Aventador, to answer your question, the 3l is for steering, but it has since been removed and you'll see why tomorrow.

Looks a bit oldschool - maybe the cabin, but overall very very impressive! I never tought that 42054 would have so many nice C-models, but seems You are master of this set.

For a C-Model, this is simply amazing. I love the older-style boxy cab, it's something I haven't seen in Technic myself and yet fits perfectly with the colours and overall shaping. I can't wait to see where this goes next.

Haha, thank you so much! Where this will go next: lots of modification to the rear, addition of outriggers and interior detail. Should be done before christmas (I've got a 42055 waiting for me :classic:)

Thanks alot! How can I make the cabin more "newschool"? Making it shorter?

My suggestion is to make whole cab from liftarms and not connectors because if you try to raise thic moc by holding only cab you will end-up with cab in your hands, simply it is not sturdy enough

I have no exact idea, might might be that.

VS, I think your backhoe would be based on a Claas Arion / Axion in real life, so in proportions something like that. Hard task for a C-model, I know...

I think if you make the cabin 1 stud higher and add (if at all possible) smooth tiles on the edges and some gadgets (like mirrors, lights), it would not look "old school"

Thanks! No worries, I'll figure it out

I can totally raise the cabin, though I'm not sure about the smooth tiles simply because there are few system pieces in the 42054. And of course, I wil add gadgets. Thanks for your advice!

Update time:

So the minor update is in the front, where rather than having some gears to tilt the pallet, I added some links so that it remains parallel to the ground, which is much more useful.

And now, the major update:

Turntable added to the rear excavator!

So that's it for now. Thanks!

With regards all the "old school" comments, I have to say that I rather like the overall look

To start, here's some windows:

Also, here's an interior. All controls are in the cabin:

Now, the major part:

The pallet can be tilted now, and change its orientation.

Additionally, the rear excavator has been finished and has a simple drill attachment:

That's it. Thanks!

Seeing all your C models make me think that if LEGO decide to  make only one tractor tire, then I'll switch to 1:13.5 scale and make yellow JCB 4CX backhoe loader, Fastrac 4220... Loadall telehandlers...all yellow fleet...
