Posted December 2, 20177 yr This is the Recon Utility mech. Features: -Two grabber/manipulator arms. -Big circular saw arm -Leg twin barrel pistol holder -Torso mounted communications antennae -Torso mounted saw holder -Heavy duty leg suspension -Deep space armor -Top torso mounted cargo cage that opens up. -Lots of work lights PICS: The legs can support the weight nicely. The leg mechanism is highly sophisticated. This moc was 100% built with technic pieces. (Excluding the cockpit, lights and tools) Edited December 2, 20177 yr by Mechbuilds
December 2, 20177 yr The concept is interesting, and I like the style of your mech. The use of Technic parts makes it feel like a genuine machine. Unfortunately, I think your pics don't do it justice : they're too dark, and it would really help to have the MOC stand against a plain background. 23 minutes ago, Mechbuilds said: The leg mechanism is highly sophisticated. Do you have more details about that ?

Thanks for the critique. The leg mechanism is basically the 3x3 smaller turn table and the mechanism allows the legs to "widen up" outward. The legs themselves have two gears to add friction. The knee joint you can see easily and it adds plenty enough friction. (Too much i'm afraid) The ankle joint lets it tilt forwards and backwards a limited range but enough for it to function. The ankle joints also have tilt sideways to compensate for the hip joints. Also the toes bend which helps with action poses. The model itself is very sturdy and poseable. When i start tearing this thing down, i should take more pics to show the mechanism.
December 2, 20177 yr Author here's the mechanism: It lets the legs widen by this much: here's the gearing: Ankle joint: Posability: It's pretty much the smallest way to build sturdy legs without using any ball joints.
