Hi everybody,

I have been working on a classic Porsche 911 for quite a while now. It is not 100% finished yet but I already showed it at a local exhibition last weekend. There is still some work to do (A-pillars, front hood, underbody, interior). I would kindly ask for feedback especially suggestions for improvements.

What a beauty

Hi, this is a real thing of beauty! It captures the charm of the original quite effectively. It is a pity that forum is a little quiet, the model deserves much more than two comments. I would suggest sharing a little more pictures here, so people don't need to jump to the Flickr right away. Would you mind showing some details of the internal construction? I am especially interested in that beautiful curve above the rear fenders. These Technic connectors in the trunk look intriguing. As for the suggestions, to me front and back indicator lights seem a bit tall. But I have no idea how to achieve the curve using plates. Too bad TLG doesn't make quarter tiles in transparent orange.

@proran: Thank you very much for your comment! I will have some time to share pictures of the internal construction at the weekend. The building of the complete rear of the car was very painful. It is very complex and took me ages to construct. But I am very pleased with the outcome especially as it is quite sturdy and there are no parts hanging somewhere loosely (apart from the a-pillars). I agree with you on the indicator lights but there was just no other solution that came to my mind.

Phenomenal model, Simple and clean!  I wouldn't change much, it's awesome.  What scale is it in?

After you finish it, we will do some promotion on the frontpage!

It's fantastic. My only question is are there any alternate tyres/wheels you could use? A lower profile tyre or one with less deep-set tread might look nicer. But that really is nit-picking what is otherwise a sensational build!

Yes, I can use the 10258 London bus tyres. They are quite expensive at the moment but I do own this set so I can replace the tyres.

That sounds very promising! It will take about three more weeks but that is definetly extra motivation to finish the job! Hopefully I will be able to share better pictures then.

Thank you very much! The scale is approximately 1/16.

I was asked to give some insight into the internal construction, so here we go.

The roof is connected by one technic axle to the body of the car. The 1x10 curved slopes are connected to the rear of the car by one stud each:

Dear @legophisto, thank you for the pictures. I love the "umbrella" roof. This is ingenious! And the way the trunk lid is connected reminds me of the 10252 Beetle. It is the DNA, I believe .

Thank you very much! To be honest: the construction of the "umbrella" roof to create an angle was pretty much straightforward. And you are correct about my inspiration for the trunk lid. But the toughest problems were to get the curved rear fenders right and to connect the roof with the rear.

Wow, fantastic work! I've been thinking about making a 911 MOC as well, but those curved shapes are really hard to capture with Lego. You pulled them off brilliantly! 

The grey version of my classic Porsche 911 is finally finished!

I did some minor changes to the black version but it is basically the same car.

Just the usual features: Opening doors, front trunk and engine cover.

No illegal builds, no parts that are not produced anymore, not third party tyres, no very rare parts (maybe apart from the 10258 tyres).

Thank you very much! The rear was most definitely the hardest part. Even the rear bumper was not as easy a it looks. There were times when I thought about stopping the project but in the end I am glad I did not.

It is so cool, can't believe quite how accurate you've got it, but I feel like it needs something to represent the 'b' pillars. Wheels look much, much better by the way.

Sorry, I do not share or sell instructions for this model. It would be not fair to do so since the model is something like a "semi-commissioned" work.

Thank you so much for keeping your promise even though it took me far more than three weeks to finish the model! To have a moc frontpaged here on EB must be an honour for every builder.

Wow I look at my dad's 1969 911 everyday parked in the warehouse and you nailed it! Great job! Looks more like a porsche than the Lego Technic model. Awesome!
