Posted December 15, 20177 yr Hi, I'd like to present my latest MOC, a 1:10 replica of the Mercedes-AMG GT R. It is a manual car with the following functions: independent suspension on all wheels steering with HoG and working steering wheel V8 fake engine working lights (with custom lighting bricks) opening doors and hood adjustable seats (with a gear behing the seat) adjustable spoiler (with another gear behind the seat) detailed interior and engine bay a 4D+N+R gearbox an active aerodynamic spoiler (this is some kind of marketingbuzzword from Mercedes-AMG) in the front which opens when 4th gear is engaged four wheel steering with speed (read gear) dependent behaviour: - in 1st gear the wheels steer against each other - in 2nd gear only the front wheels steer - in 3rd gear the rear wheels steer a bit with the front wheels - in 4th gear the rear wheels steer with the front wheels Here is a video showcasing the functions: This model was a first for me in a couple of ways: It has 3D-printed rims (thanks @SevenStuds for the design) It has 3rd party lighting from Lifelites It has custom stickers from @jaaptechnic Here are some shots with the lights on: And here are a top and front view: As usual comments and questions are welcome. Leg godt, Jeroen
December 15, 20177 yr Excellent work! The panelling looks great - it's instantly recognisable, and the features - wow! I love the use of the propellor blade in the scoop behind the front wheels.
December 15, 20177 yr Can you at least reveal how the steering mechanism works? I spent a month trying to get it to work with no delay but failed quickly. Awesome car BTW!
December 16, 20177 yr Wow, definitely worth the wait to see, your buyer will be stoked. Are those 68.8 X 36 zr tires?
December 16, 20177 yr Wow... Incredible model.  The gearbox/steering mechanism is awesome! How did you get it to work? And what about when it's in reverse?
December 16, 20177 yr Nice project you have accomplished there! Cool functions, especially the different steering modes. Like the fact that you have new ideas each time you build a supercar again ! I love the modeling details, such as the front grill and the smooth engine compartment. The area around the front lights looks too bulky IMO, switching to bricks is not always the best option. But I know how hard such a task can be, I´ve spent many hours trying countless options for my AMG headlights too…The owner will get used to it .
December 16, 20177 yr Wonderful build, as always. Thank you for sharing. I am curious about your experience with using lifelites. I have used them in the past alot on my projects, including lighting kits for the Arocs and the Porsche. I found them super nimble and wonderful as far as lighting goes. they look great. However, I also found them very fragile and once you had plugged on light into a unit it was nearly impossible to get it back out. How did you find them?   Â

December 16, 20177 yr I didn´t know that the GT had these features, you are Technic cool wind. Ouch, I hadn´t seen third party pieces... I should not have commented without reading well. Edited December 16, 20177 yr by jorgeopesi
December 16, 20177 yr cool features and car Ia am curious on how you realize the switch between direction modes? Claas inspired? Edited December 16, 20177 yr by steph77
December 16, 20177 yr Piece of art, I like that it manual, nice details everywhere. Hat off Sir! A question, as I am not petrolhead in depth: why does the 4 wheel steering work like that? In 4th gear (highest speed) why is there crab steering? Is it like on the real cars? Edited December 16, 20177 yr by agrof grammar

In 4th gear (highest speed) why is there crab steering? Is it like on the real cars? It does react the exact same in real cars. The car crabs at highway speed (more like 3 degrees compared to front) to increase lane change stability. When a regular car changes lanes, it pivots, then straightens, where when it crabs, it barely pivots, just moves. Hope this helped.
December 16, 20177 yr Very nice model once again! Like others I would love to see what's inside. Edited December 16, 20177 yr by Didumos69
December 17, 20177 yr Very incredible car, as usual. On ‎12‎/‎15‎/‎2017 at 3:22 PM, BrickbyBrickTechnic said: Can you at least reveal how the steering mechanism works? I have lost count on the amount of variants I have tried and I agree it is not perfect. There was just so little space and so many curves in that area that it was a real struggle to get something that was not too bulky, captured the headlightshape, did have enough room for attaching the lifelites (the edge is also lit BTW) and was sturdy enough for my standards. There was quite some back-and-forth communication with my client about this part of the design .  On 16/12/2017 at 12:03 PM, nerdsforprez said: Wonderful build, as always. My experience with the lifelites is similar. During the testbuilding I didn't push the connectors all the way in because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to take them apart anymore. I also struggled with the size of the leds. Some were just too small to fit snugly inside a pin, making the lights fall out a bit too easy.  21 hours ago, tomek9210 said: Beautfiul! Any chances to see the suspension and rims from the inside? Thanks, I do not have the model anymore, so I won't be able to share any inside pictures.  17 hours ago, jorgeopesi said: I didn´t know that the GT had these features, you are Technic cool wind. Claas inspired? The steeringmechanism is indeed Claas-inspired. Instead of manually moving the control stick from left to right I use the rotational input from the sequential gearbox selector to drive a gearrack which pushes the stick from left to right. When going into reverse the wheels are still in the position dictated by the sequential gearbox, I did not see a way to decouple that as well in the limited space I had in this car. It is jampacked as it is Once again, thank you for all the positive comments. Jeroen
December 17, 20177 yr Being a great Fan of Gotlieb Daimler & Karl Benz project - Mercedes - Benz (inc. WIlhelm Maybach), being a man who drives at about 2200 km to Stuttgart to visit the heart of Mercedes Benz I may say that: - The silhouette itself and look from the top is very good and abcolutely similar to the real car. - The colour theme solution with the black roof and rear spolier and white bodycit looks luckily! - Front grill with the logo looks mindblowing! I personally dislike the way you use bricks in the front corners. Not because it's not technic but because it looks too huge compare with the real car and different. Your MOC is more similar to the AMG GT3 BUT the AMG GT R edition. (As I remeber we were talking about it a copule of month ago).  Functionality is great! 4 weels steering is has original implementaion! As aerodynamic pack!     Â
