[OL - FB - DEC17] Knock, knock! Who's there?

Long have the lands of Guelph been a domain of the Oleander Crown and the culture of the motherland seeps deep into its sands. Sometimes however, trouble still stirs amongst the natives of Guelph. Stimulated either by nefarious foreign meddling and instigation or by internal disagreement with the current state of affairs several branches of a new cult began popping up in different New Oleander cities and villages. These acolytes follow the teachings of the Scorpion King, Ankor, and call themselves the Cult of the Scorpion. As enlightened as Oleonese society is, acts of religious dissent, demagogy and inciting the populace against the state are severely looked down upon and swiftly dealt with.

Spurred on by both the Faith and the Governor, soldiers of the New Oleonese Army crack down upon the known locations of sympathizers of the Cult. Here, a mixed force of Tirailleurs and Dragoons - a typical combination in Guelph military operations -  are ready to breach the house of several conspirators and confiscate everything pertaining to the mysterious Scorpion King and his followres and take hold of the illegal weapons rumored to be stockpiled in the house. Of course, any lead to the fabled treasures of this Scorpion King are welcome finds as well...

I wanted to make a small MOC to showcase some of my men in action and get back into building some more. I wanted to take some more photos, but the weather and lighting's been really bad here, so these were the only decent ones I got  . The third one's kind of bad, but you get the general idea. Even though it's a small MOC, C&C is always welome  !

Nice little build, those soldiers of yours are really awesome!   The addition of the chickens and cat spice up the scene nicely as well, and I'm liking the addition of those poles sticking out the side.  Good job capturing the Guelph feel!

Lovely MOC! There's lots to like here. Wonderful use of various earth tone colors, with good texture in the structure. I like the small fence on the left side. And the irregular base works well. I love the troops, and you've added more good detail with the chickens and cat, but I really like the men on the roof smoking the pipe. Great all around!

Those tirailleurs are so perfect they drew my full attention away from a great palette and build.  The (hookah) pipe is a nice touch.  A nicely composed action scene; well done.

There's a lot of nice detail crammed into your build. The wooden poles sticking out of the side is my favorite part! The imperfect walls are made perfectly.

It's great to see these fantastic troops in action. The poses are very good, especially for the soldier about to break down the door. The story is well written, and looks like the beginnings of a fun adventure. The window in the wall is a little too low in my opinion, but other than that the build looks excellent.

Seeing this MOC a bit earlier, I really don't know where to begin commenting how awesome it is! The posing is excellent (especially the soldier breaking the door, the one fixing his bayonet and the guys smoking on the roof). Also the "middle eastern" feeling is everywhere and as other commented, the inclusion of the pets made that build much more alive! Overall, a gem in Oleander MOC collection!

I agree, this pretty much sums up how I feel! I really love this scene - as others have already mentioned, the minifig posing is brilliant. The house itself looks great, the desert feel is well captured. Great work!

Very nice MOC, the two different types of soldiers really steal the show here!    Both look fantastic.

Great to see these figs in action! I just love the selection of torsos, very fitting to the intented purpose.

The house is very well built too, with lots of good details, like the custom windows and the skylight thingy on the roof.

Thanks for the great comments! I'm glad you like the small build and accompanying soldiers. The chickens were added to make the build feel more alive and give it a somewhat rural, backwater feeling.

The skylight thingy was inspired by the stuff on the roofs in Jerusalem in the first Assassin's Creed game, in which you can hide. I made it from faint memory to give the build a more middle eastern feel, but I should've made the cloth somewhat longer.

I plan on doing a small series of these builds, to develop the story somewhat more. However, my schedule is really busy so I can't really say when the next installment will come.

The posing of the minifigures, and the action portrayed is all exceptional. The building is also well done and I am fond of the non-square base, though I definitely don't use them enough. I look forward to seeing more for you in the brick.

Wow... the building itself is nice, but the minifig choice and posing is great!!! Everything gives a desert war/foreign legion atmosphere, and your story contributes shaping Southern Oleon in a quite realistic way!

Thanks! I'm nitpicking here, since I get what you're saying, but I made some concept art a while back of actual Oleon Foreign Legionnaires which I plan on using in a MOC soon (or later, but definitely once  ). The soldiers you see here are just regular Oleon infantry, native units to be precise. But like I said, I get what you meant  .
