"And of course, you've already met my half-brother Noel." "Where are my manners! That's coincidentally what we're here to talk about. We have reason to believe that they aren't who they say they are. In fact, we found the corpse of one of the veterans themselves, very much dead. If you're talking about the Dragon Lord, we read about that in the paper, I don't see how helping the veterans out now that the Founders are in charge would do anyone any good. "I'm sorry to go backwards, but no, we aren't sure it's actually the Golden Dragon; all the evidence seems to say yes but the very reason we wanted to consult with you is that we have no way of knowing. And if you can only reach the 'faintest glimmer' of memories, that may not help anyway." The gnome ponders for a moment. "I don't suppose there is any way you can converse with the dead without a body? I mean, a way to reach their souls in whatever plane of existence they inhabit after death?" The question itself troubles Matthias. Bearing Orrick's anvil means the gnome is certain of his deity's existence, but even immortality provides little certainty about the condition - or possibility - of an afterlife. Quote

Flipz Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Arthur observes the interaction between Matthias and Chesterine with an ever-growing maniacal grin. Something in the ex-Mage's expression suggests a hope that the pair share more than just one coffee once the city was saved, and an aim to help should it become necessary. OOC: and thus, the S.S. Mattherine sets sail. Quote
