Techniccrack Posted March 18, 2018 Author Posted March 18, 2018 An update. Adjusting the arm connections If the head goes up, the arms on one end will go up and the other remaines level to the original position. My model needed adjustments on that. The lower arm dropped when the other arm on the other end goes up. The model will be dressed up with groundplates, so the arms must never goes below the original position. so now its good: Transport Also i am working on the transport of the model. On the real polyp the arms will be collaps so the ride can be transported: So here is how my model will be on transport: Left and right of the base there will be trailerparts that will be connected to the center unit. so i started to build those (in LDD, still in progress): Will be continued... jwarner Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 Looking very nice! I love how much functionality you've managed to cram into this project Quote
kieran Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 Only just seen this, amazing work. Can't believe how much you got into that model Quote
Techniccrack Posted March 18, 2018 Author Posted March 18, 2018 Like money? i dont know, i do know the number of parts is around 14000 Ive done a little lifttest. The total weight of the arms with the crosses and new seats is 2500 grams. No problem at all :) Quote
Freezer118 Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 I barely dare to ask it but... are you planning to make some kind of instructions when the project is finished? Quote

Techniccrack Posted March 20, 2018 Author Posted March 20, 2018 Maybe this will help a little. An cutted section of the lower drivesystem how it works: Quote
Techniccrack Posted March 21, 2018 Author Posted March 21, 2018 (edited) Update: Dressing up the middle structure I dressed up the middle structure (top parts not yet) Inside this middle structure is the box battery for the liftmotor. fits perfectly: I choosed for making a little door for access the motor i case the motor is broken or to replace it, its very handy. 3 connectors and the motor can be replaced Edited March 22, 2018 by Techniccrack Quote
jwarner Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Looking very nice! The hatch is a lovely idea, and will surely save you some pain later on. Quote
wimpie3 Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 This is how the middle part looks in reality: https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/696bfac317c6d2974c73a472bff713a0/polyp-ocean-king-tunning-set Would be great if you could add some sloped stones on top and on the bottom. It's a very straight cylinder right now. Quote

Edwin Korstanje Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Stunning progress, and have follow you on Lowlug. The time and effort you put in your build is amazing and hope that we stand both at LW Netherlands 2018 event and see you Turbo ployp in action. Quote
wimpie3 Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 How are you going to make the accordeon? Or are you going to leave the mechanism exposed? Quote

wimpie3 Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 What about using the plastic tube from a vacuum cleaner? :-) Quote
Techniccrack Posted March 24, 2018 Author Posted March 24, 2018 A tube like that doesnt fit. I will think about it how to do it. but leaving the mechanism exposed is also nice. An video update! This time stage 4 of the turbo spider. New seats added, rotation drive train adjusted, rotating of the main cilinder, lifting, speed adjusting, stability and lowlevel check. The rotating crosses i still working on. the 2 xl motors that drives the main cilinder are to weak. so there will be 4 xl motors that drives the cilinder, more power is needed to get this 6 kilogram machine get into full motion Heres the video enjoy! wimpie3 Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Nice! It's a bit difficult to see but aren't the crosses a bit too high from the floor? They almost touch the floor on a real machine I think. Quote

Techniccrack Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 Video update New test video with 2 rotating crosses. For now just 2 crosses that spinning. The drivetrain of these 2 crosses are connected tot the main cilinder. The other arms will be connected to this "drive"arms, but thats for later: enjoy! Quote
wimpie3 Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Just discovered another difference. On a real machine, the middle section does not rotate. In your case it rotates the other way around. But I don't think that can be solved. Quote

On the real model: The middle section DOES rotate , otherwise the head can not make the arms go up and down Some polyps has a cover in front of the rotating section. some has a visible rotating section: Other models has a more different system: Like i said earlier: my model is a mixure of different types of Polyp machine. Read the topic or do your homework before bring up again a "fail" in the model Quote
