March 4, 20186 yr Nice progress! Not sure about those exhausts... If I look at the photo's of the real things, they are very "abstract" (point, sharp, "hoekig"), This looks a bit too "organic" to me...

March 5, 20186 yr Author Almost there, only the crane, stickers, sprinkler nozzels and the transport crate have to be made. Today i got a reaction from the captain who is sailing the same sister ship the Fairplay XI here in the Netherlands and loved her. Know lets hoop that the Client in Hamburg love her to. The build so far was a real challange. For this 60 cm long and 27,5 cm wide and build at the scale 1:50 is the parts count extreme high and above the 12000 parts. The only way to seen her in real live there will been one change at the event Floating Bricks from 17e and 18e of March in Hamburg. After the event she will stay there with her new owner.? March 5, 20186 yr thats a real credit to you Edwin, now to study your pics and be able to learn from them, for such a small build that is some amount of pieces but given the detail and the pieces you have used its hardly surprising.the lights add the finishing touch,a few pics of the way you did the wheelhouse would be great.hope to use some of your techniques on my build (semi sub heavy lift ship)15ft x 3ft again amazing build look forward to your next one

To give you some information on the next project it will be the Telstar for Iskes Towage and Salvage. This is also a crasy tug and is a design of a Eddy tug and must build here with a open engineroom. telstar-27 by VFracingteam, on Flickr

March 6, 20186 yr What a masterpiece! Those stickers really add to the look of your model. Good application btw it takes a lot of patience to get them right! How did you manage to get those ribbed hoses (exhaust) to retail the uniform shape?

How did you manage to get those ribbed hoses (exhaust) to retail the uniform shape? There is a copper wire inside a riged hose what is bent in the right direction and than i put over the ribbed hoses.
March 6, 20186 yr At first I thought you heat treated the hoses and them bent them to the shape but your solution is brilliant. Thanks for the building tip!

March 9, 20186 yr Author Today i have Finished the Fairplay IX and made the last details and transport box for her. I hope that i find the time next week, to make some studio pictures of her, before she left her homebase for good. I wand thanks MT-Bricks and Fairplay Germany for the great challenge and hope that she is what you have expected. I had some frustration on the build, but the most time it was so fun to build her and very happy with the result and in real she looks better than on the pictures. In total there are just over 12500 parts in her and 150 hours of building time.?Thanks everybody for following the progress and the great comments and hope you like her. Today me and my dad got a great trip on the Sister vessel Fairplay XI in Rotterdam as thanks for building the LEGO model of the Fairplay IX. We wanted thanks the Captain Henk and his great crew for the great day, good polska lunch and nice weather. What the day makes for me complete, that the other tug which also assited, i build 3 years ago the Brent from the Iskes Towage company.Today the tugs have to assist two towing jobs, with one bulk carrier and one Maersk smaller container ship. This is what my hobby and job makes me complete happy, that i can also see what i must build can do in real and that not only the head of board, but also the crews onboard loved the details of my builds.
