"Karie, you thought I was challenging you? Of all things! I was challenging him to provide evidence, which he clearly didn't have. If you two hadn't gone all forceful on the "we're the good guys, the founders are the bad guys" talk, we may have actually been able to change his mind. I apologize if you felt that I was undermining your authority, that was not at all my intention, but when we're dealing with potentially troublesome people who nevertheless could be persuaded about the error of their ways, then it's always best to pretend that the mistake is on our part. Pretend that we must be ignorant about the 'horrible atrocities' committed by Heroica, because we only know heroes to have done good things. Then give him the opportunity to provide evidence to the contrary. If we cannot think coolly at this time, then I am afraid we won't last long." "I don't know how long you've been part of Heroica, Monk. But you and I both know Heroica ain't the spotless lamb some people like to think it is. The orc's got his point and so does Karie, the Hall's screwed up and in a way it's deservin' of what the Founders gave 'em. I don't know if they're real or not, can't say people poppin' out of the woodwork after all these years ain't somethin' new. Think of Lawrence Boomingham, he was around durin' the time of the founders and yet we ain't questionin' his validity. Guess what I'm tryin' to say, is there's not a lot we can do about the past, best thing we can do is make the best of the future we got." 3 hours ago, Asphalt said: Having attempted to remain unnoticed and within his glamour he breaks his silence. "You know what I think? I think that Heroica's decline recently has nothing to do with any 'corruption' or internal conflicts between supporters of the different factions. From what I've seen those groups had absolutely no problems working together, either through professionalism or because personal friendships were more important than faction loyalty. Hell, I've worked with Althior Emorith without any issue even after he sided with the Wolfgang during the Babeleth quest. I think the real reason that Heroica isn't what it once was is due to most of it's members realizing that they had better things to do with their lives and leaving. Have you seen the Hall recently? It's practically deserted. I've been reading through the Heroica Archives in my spare time and there was a quest from before I joined, Quest Forty-Four I believe it was, the party for that quest consisted of seventeen heroes, the largest single party in the history of this organization and only a fraction of Heroica's strength at the time. The only other time that number of Heroes was at the same place at the same time was The Battle of the Bridge in Baltarok, and that was three parties at once! Wear-as the heroes at Lady Luck's locale today only numbered thirteen, and that's practically all that's left. The fact is recently the organization has been hemorrhaging members left and right. At this point the return of the Founders is basically the death knell of Heroica as it was, or just Heroica period." Having said all that Throlar opened the copy of the Herald he had taken and opened it to page six to read the rest of what this mystery contributor had written. "Perhaps this city don't really need a Heroica or the Founders at all. Perhaps what it needs is to take responsibility for itself..." 2 hours ago, Lord Duvors said: Having said all that Throlar opened the copy of the Herald he had taken and opened it to page six to read the rest of what this mystery contributor had written. The article goes on for a few more sentences mainly reviewing some of Heroica's more noble acts involving their work in foreign nations such as Xu, Dastan, and Baltarock. Quote

Who knows but perhaps the Town Watch and Bonapartes really are throwing off corruption at long last. Knowing humankind, I doubt this is the case, but it is possible. "A-hah!" said Throlar "You must be that town watch detective I've heard about. Tell me," he continued as diplomatically as possible, "how is the Shadeaux murder investigation going? Or are you looking into the allegations against the Ziegfrieds? or perhaps the Hinkwells or the Guild of Invision? How about these reports that the Ji Pei is orchestrating some sort of invasion? You must be looking into at least one of those, right? you're not just leaving them hanging?" Quote

That's just daft!" Giving a slight nod to the detective he continued, "Glad we could be of assistance to you sir, and I have full confidence in your ability to get to the bottom of these nefarious doings. Asphalt Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Vindsval smiles warmly, Throlar my friend, you never told me you knew the famous detective Hoples, I heard of his exploits many times within my travels. He is well known and loved by the people. He bows low to the Detective. IT is truly an honor. But as Friend Throlar says, we Must be going. Perhaps another time we may meet and I shall hear your tales first hand. Quote

"And for goodness sakes whatever possessed you to use my name? Now we're going to have a whole load of trouble we could've avoided otherwise." 3 hours ago, Waterbrick Down said: "Detective, one of them is even named Throlar!
