Cardinal Brick Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 It's nice that it's out already but I agree that the price is very high for NZ, even worse than the UK price will no doubt be.
jayber1974 Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 In 2 weeks I will receive I nice box of lego. $100.00 less than expected! Yay for what ever possessed to list it for AU$149.99!!
Siegfried Posted March 2, 2008 Author Posted March 2, 2008 A same/same thing happened in Sweden about a year ago. :-D Great story! I assume you sold most of them? 8-| In 2 weeks I will receive I nice box of lego. $100.00 less than expected! Yay for what ever possessed to list it for AU$149.99!!I'm curious low long it will last. I suspect that it will vanish in a few days, only to re-appear in a few months at $240... :-/ Nice with the Australian price. In Denmark it
shunlabs Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 (edited) I guess what happened is that someone put the US dollar price for the Australian site. The same error happens all the time for the prices in EUR ... for some reason they just re-use USD figures and put EUR symbol behind (they even increase amounts in some cases, you evil Lego ! >:-) ). Wait ... this isn't an error ... it's actually corporate pricing policy 8- Edited March 3, 2008 by shunlabs
brickzone Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 shunlabs: Unfortunately for us in Europe, it's less that the prices are high here, and more that they are really really cheap in the US. The most likely thing to happen is that Lego has to raise prices for the US, although the problem for them is that the market there may not bear it (folks there are paid in US$ after all). Interesting that they can still turn a profit in the US at current prices, but I suspect margins are very thin indeed. Part of the European prices are indeed a good profit for Lego and maybe toy retailers, but if that were not the case, the company would be in trouble!
Lt. Col. Thok Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 You're lucky; across the pond its $220 CAD. |-/

AFOL SF Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 You're lucky; across the pond its $220 CAD. |-/ I was about to turn off my computer and call it a day when I decided to check Lego.Com for the Green Grocer (10185). It's now posted as "available" with a price of US$149.99. I'm a bit shock considering this is the most expensive of the 3 modular sets (to date) that Lego has released. Is this a reasonable price?
jayber1974 Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I am very happy that I got it before the price went up!! I emailed TLC (under a pseudonym just in case :-$ ) and they said the price was a mistake, however, they were honouring the AU$149.99 price for all those that bought it at that AU$150 X-D being my credit card has already been debited the amount, I am relieved! Thank you TLC!
