BrickbyBrickTechnic Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 (edited) Alright, time to build something that I am very excited to do... a 42055 C model. I thought a snow groomer would be the perfect topic. The model will have the following functions: - Snowplow lifting (PF) - Crane rotation (PF) - Crane lifting (PF) - Rear "grooming tool" lifting (PF) - Each track, individually controlled by a multidirectional gearbox to allow drive and steering (PF) - Snowplow steering (Manual) - Pendular bogie suspension The build begins with a sturdy frame. So that's it for now- hope you enjoy, please leave a comment. Thank you! BbBT Edited February 4, 2018 by BrickbyBrickTechnic Quote
1gor Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 that would be huge groomer my suggestion is to make transverse frames more sturdy with this for upcoming "bodywork" Quote

Jurss Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 tracks will be too narrow for snow groomer. Quote

offroadcreations Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Looking solid so far! I also happen to be starting a 42055 C-model. I'm excited to see what you do with the set. Quote

BrickbyBrickTechnic Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 How about a nice big complex gearbox? Well, that's it for now. Quote
schraubedrin Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 (edited) That's a really cool project. Have you tested the gearbox under load? I'm anxious about the 16t input gear not being directly braced to the following gear. Also the 24t gears on the tracks seem like they could work themselves loose pretty quickly. I have; so far everything is working just fine. I geared down the tracks more since posting this update, and now I think I should add more bracing to those 24t gears. Thanks! Quote
BrickbyBrickTechnic Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 OK people, the gearbox is now virtually done. I have also added some covering and started a control scheme. Leave a comment. Quote

Chipstertrain Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 I'm really liking the look of this, following with great interest. Keep up the good work. Chip. Quote
Johnny1360 Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 I too very much like the way this is progressing, pretty interesting. Even though to me it's more of a Terra Forming Gargantuan, than groomer. Can't wait to see final results. Quote

Aventador2004 Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 That is huge! What color will the body be? Yellow? Quote
aminnich Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 I wish I would have saw this sooner! That is looking very good, so much progress in such little time. 42055 is a great c-model set just because of the wide variety of parts that you are given. You are the master c-builder, I am looking forward to progress! Quote

I just mean to say it is very large, as have others, that is good, I really like large builds. Sorry for any confusion I may have created. This groomer is coming along nicely, with the addition of the attachments. I am starting to like it more, keep up the good work. Can't wait to see the final video of it in action, hopefully there will still be some fresh snow around. Just wondering what function the turntable will have, will it be for cab rotation or some kind of crane attachment? Edited February 4, 2018 by Johnny1360 Added some stuff Quote
Nebulaire Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 It is a very nice wip, i can't wait to see it finished. Quote
