Thanks

This and your own reply afterwards.

If my memory is correct, back in 2016 that 42056 Porsche also introduces the "Technic, Axle Connector 3L (that red driving ring that you said) that has now appear in many other 2017-2018 sets and that part actually shaped sequential gearbox design by MOCers in this forum 2016-2018, so actually Uwe did use something new for his Porsche gearbox design.

Yes, you are right! And we all remember how so many people were calling it a game changing part and how it now appears everywhere!

It will be interesting to see what applications they find for the Bugatti rear diffusor element outside of cars.

I think that their main focus is on replicate the look of the car, to satisfy their licensing partners (Porsche, Bugatti). After that, they fill up the left space with some avarege technic functions.

I can say about my experiences, when someone is looking at my Porsche, most of them are amazed that it is made of LEGO, but they don't ask me if it got some super fancy functions.

So I conclude that TLG is aware of this and develop this line up more as a showcase model with a sprinkle of functions.

I think orange worm-gear-thingy can replace knob gears for gearboxes. Seems like a more controlled way to select a gear instead of jerky switching.

It can be used with a rotating axle, which means the possibility for motorized switching - something we've not seen since 8043.

You mean this one? This mould is pretty old actually.

Really? The part number in the catalogue doesn´t correspond to anything on Bricklink - maybe due to colour. What is the reference number and which main sets has it been in?

It's been in 8265.

Wasn't 8043 the ONLY set with motorized switching?

About Porsche everybody expected PFs. Car of such price must drive at least.

There're no Lego motors at the moment that can accelerate a car this big to an acceptable speed. I'm sure Porsche or Bugatti would not want to see their supercars being as fast as the 9398 Crawler...

Very reasonable answer

42056, because real Porsche's have red springs.

Looking at the parts list, I wonder what the yellow elastic band is for and it seems there are 2L pins in blue. Also, is that a minifig stud shooter in LBG ? under the 1x2 LBG curved slope.

edit: I got mixed up with all the blues, after getting a better view I can say that they are indeed regular blue  friction pins with axle. The LBG pieces are indeed two minifig stud shooters but without the triggers or ammo.

There is a small LBG wheel which I think will be used as a pulley for the yellow rubber band, probably for engine detail.

I didn't think it would look so good to be honest, but my, I should wait until its been on sale a while and bound to be reduced at some point to.  Anyone know overall size of it built? guess in similar scale to Porsche?

This won't be limited or anything.  I got the Porsche for a decent price in the end to.  Though along with UCS MFC still in the box!!

Aaaah, those were unique just for the Porsche...

The color for the interior is listed as Dark Tan (Sand Yellow on Brickset). It's the same color with that of the old type 5L axle with stop.  2x5 Panels in Dark Tan have already appeared in Star War figures Finn and Rey.

Can somebody tell me what is that grey thing next to the bag on instruction booklet picture?

I've been trying to figure that out...looks like it could be a brick built key?

Edit:

Also, overall, I'm very impressed with what I see. I think some gaps from the hood could have been designed slightly better ...not by me because I'm not good, but there are many on this site that I'm sure will find a nice way to cover some of it up. The front wheel gap is a little big. Otherwise I am blown away. That rear view is just amazing. I don't think anyone would have thought to design the back light like that yet it seems so obvious now. The picture below really captures just how nice this model really looks.

Having now seen the hub assembly I'm still baffled why they have moved the hub pins to the rim instead of the hub /brake disk is this a feature of the Bugatti as it seems opposite to every wheel hub assembly?

Also we still have the same engine mount ends which were designed to use with studs. a new stud less design would have been nice with some additional pin holes.

Now I have to stop building my moc super car as i need those new gears get around the 4 wheel drive / steer problems i was having

This way rim looks more nicely on the outside, this is the most likely reason.
