Kai NRG Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 When Guy's Uncle sleeps, he sleeps. This trite fact was the dormant cause of a most dire misfortune. Six thousand solid gold doubloons, stashed in a secret receptacle of Uncle's chimney, vanished. Six thousand doubloons is not a sum that can simply be lost with impunity. And Uncle found himself under the necessity of hitting up on some way of reducing his expenses. Retrenchment, however, was not a popular theme in Uncle's household. Uncle, you must know, has quite a quantity of children. So many, in fact, that he hardly ever gets the number right when he's trying to tell someone else how many there are. At any rate, there are more than enough to make for a sizable grocery bill, and a few other sizable and not so necessary bills as well - not so necessary, that is, from Uncle's point of view. But the same brains that propelled the MCTC to the top under his guidance, would hit upon the perfect solution to this dilemma as well. He was lying awake in bed one night (he'd found it hard to drop right off to sleep since the robbery) when the answer hit him right between the eyes. He'd take his eldest - and most expensive - children just where they had been begging to go - orchid grubbing on Celestia. Why anyone cared at all to search for some flower was quite beyond him, but life would be cheaper out in the colonies, and he could get Elaine to introduce a few reforms at home. And who knew? If they found this fabled orchid, perhaps his fortunes would take a turn! And thus it came to pass that Guy's Uncle, the most practical of the practical, the most sensible of the sensible, found himself on Celestia searching for a - place to live. Orchid hunting was in fact more complicated than he had thought. But at last, he found the perfect place. As he said to his children when they gaped at his choice, "If we're going to do this, we're going to do this right." The expedition consists of Uncle, his two oldest and one other who refused to be left behind. Uncle's eldest child is a boy - no, allow me to rephrase that. Uncle's eldest child is a very cool young man. His name is Vance. Next in the line-up comes Amira. Also cool. It was Elaine who named those two. Uncle took the naming into his own hands after that, but, sadly, the damage had already been done. So despite highly sensible names like Bob and Anne, he kept on getting cool children, and a corresponding price tag. In fact, as kids will sometimes do, his younger children took the cool thing to an even farther extreme. Witness Bob, third member of the expedition. And so, Uncle's adventures on Celestia have begun ------ Another picture: And that's all, folks! I'm afraid I watched a movie tonight instead of finishing my Category C, but you'll probably see it in the near future as I continue the story arc! C&C welcome! This definitely took a long time to build, pretty happy with how it turned out, not happy with the overview pictures I managed to take. I have quite a few pictures without minifigures but my connection is going really really slow right now, so even doing this much was a pain! But I hope you enjoy it! Quote
Professor Thaum Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 (edited) Very cool... nice touch with the hive ! clean prickprick's house ! Fair trunk technic Edited February 1, 2018 by Professor Thaum Quote
Ayrlego Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I don't think I've seen a BoBS tree house yet - this one is very cool! I love the bright colours and the description of Uncle's kids is hilarious. The flowing water of the waterfall also looks great. It's a privilege to have such an honoured guest in Jameston! Will you license as a medium residence? Quote
Darnok Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 The treehouse is nice, but the rocks and especially the tree designs are the real stars here. On top of that the waterfall is brilliantly done, very natural looking. Well done! I am looking forward to the continuation of this storyline, as Uncle is always up to proper shenanigans. Stop watching movies man! Quote

Uncle's kids were the reason I entered this challenge, I can't wait to write more of their adventures! Mike S Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 This is definitely the most original entry! I love it! Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Excellent tree house Kai ! And very original ! The trees are top notch ! They trunks seem very natural like this ! Great entry ! Quote
Capt Wolf Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Fantastic tree house! I like the attention to detail, such as the vertical siding at the base of the house. Wonderful foliage, rope bridge, and the waterfall is tremendous. And for some reason I always imagined that Guy's Uncle didn't have kids. A revelation! All in all, dare I say, very cool! Quote
Elostirion Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Now that is what they call a quality MOC - 100%. Lovely work. You can really feel that it is built around the trees. Wonderful. And those flowers at the cliffs, such beauty! Quote

I find that trunk style works very well... I just need like a hundred more of those curved brown pieces! On 2/2/2018 at 1:00 PM, Capt Wolf said: Fantastic tree house! I think Guy's Uncle has always had a boatload of kids in the back of my head ever since I thought about it. I haven't decided how many yet, decided to leave it open for future adventures to determine. On 2/4/2018 at 7:37 AM, Elostirion said: Now that is what they call a quality MOC - 100%. Lovely work. Garmadon Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Fantastic job with this, Kai, you're work definitely paid off! The treehouse is really nicely done, but the landscaping and vegetation take the cake - the rock-work, waterfall, tree-trunk texture, and colorful flowers are all superb! Great story and descriptions as usual as well! Quote

koalayummies Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 What an outstandingly beautiful build. The usage, blending and balancing of colors is perfection and the treehouse, waterfall and abundance of foliage makes for such a cozy and picturesque scene. I want to live there. Quote

It does look like a really pretty place to live, but I imagine the mosquitoes are bad in summer! Quote
