Jurss Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 (edited) Got 8270 together with some other sets and parts. Got idea, how to use crane part from 8270. Main idea is tow truck. First chassis to make it more interesting, I made liftable axle other two wheels on each side can also swing started yesterday in the evening. Had good progress today built up crane/lifter part also made gearbox, the same HOG thing will be used for steering and for lifting rear axle I think, there will be "europe" type cabin. I won't fit nice longnose on that gearbox. Edited February 15, 2018 by Jurss Quote
BrickbyBrickTechnic Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Very impressive so far. We don't get enough small models in this forum. I especially like the simple but ingenious lifting axle. Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Looks cool so far, especially for the scale. Little functional models are always impressive. Quote
jwarner Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Like the look of it so far, what do you have planned for the gear shifter? Quote
mocbuild101 Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Great work so far, looks like it should turn out quite good, it's amazing how well the small LA's work with that yellow crane part. Quote

Zerobricks Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 (edited) Reminds me of my old model built almost a decade ago: Good luck :) Edited February 4, 2018 by Zerobricks Quote
Jurss Posted February 4, 2018 Author Posted February 4, 2018 I see that, You didn't made outriggers. I can't figure out, how to make them. That's the biggest challenge left. Maybe I'll skip them ... Quote
Sarutaus Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 This model looks really good. I’m impressed you managed to fit a gearbox into such a small and densely packed model. Quote

Jurss Posted February 4, 2018 Author Posted February 4, 2018 So far so good. Some first version of outriggers (it lock in extended position) Quote
Jurss Posted February 14, 2018 Author Posted February 14, 2018 Final functionality: HOG steering (central spare tire) Risable rear axle (closer to front), with locking to not rise or lower too much (some stud travel) Gearbox, to switch between HOG steering and axle rising function (switching with left spare tire) Side outriggeers with lock function Rear outriggers Crane (on turntable, riseble) Rear axle swinging (independent on each side) Openable cabin rised axle Quote
BrickbyBrickTechnic Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Not bad, though I'm not sure I like those tires acting as knobs. Quote
sirslayer Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Wow!! , All that tech in a small space.. Very good job!! Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Very nice, love the functionality in it! Only thing to change might be the tires on top... Make just one knob a tire, use 12tooth gears or something smaller, mostly to improve aesthetics. Quote
Jurss Posted February 15, 2018 Author Posted February 15, 2018 Visual design was not main goal, but I like those spare tires, but cabin could be better, I just made some cabin, so there is something. Quote
