Holodoc Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 I phoned the Phantasia Verlag today: My copies will be shipped today. The premium issue will be released in august. Quote
Karto Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I have received the catalog yesterday morning. First impression: It's small, almost pocket size. I wasn't expecting that with 800 pages. Now I understand why they already have announced a premium edition I would say that is a good information source for a lambda collector. Hardcore set collectors may be disappointed. It is missing some sets and quite a lot of pictures (even for recent sets ). The Dacta line is not present. Now, the biggest issue I've seen so far is the pieces count: it differs a lot from the existing databases from the Internet and even from the official count of the current sets! A few examples: - 7990 Cement Mixer: Lego says 213 parts - Catalog says 226. - 10181 Eiffel Tower: Lego says 3428 parts - Catalog says 3427. (one part got probably lost) - 10182 Café Corner: Lego says 2056 parts - Catalog says 2056. (ok, this one is correct but then...) - 10190 Market Street: Lego says 1248 parts - Catalog says 1280. (...why do we have such a difference on this one?) - 376 Town House with Garden: Catalog says 248 parts while the North American edition with number 560, which is as far as I know the exact same set, has 253 parts. - etc. (I can put here every single set in fact...) I first thought that the extra pieces were the result of the addition of minifigure parts (up to ten parts per minifig if you count hands, arms, legs, separately). But then it should be the case for every set; where some have less parts, others have up to 10% extra parts. They probably have outsourced the Brick Counting Department to India... (Note: That's why Brickfactory was so slow over the past months!) Limited, exlusive and promo sets are tagged as special. Apparently, the UK 1592 Town Square is no longer a promo The rule is quite simple: all the sets that are not present in the official Lego catalogs are limited, exclusives or promotional sets... Conclusion: Even with all these issues, I am still glad to have bought it... but just for the images Quote
