Gotta agree with this. Don't know if I would ever have started designing any of my own mocs if it wasn't for the daily dose of inspiration from this page. Good work @LegoModularFan

Thanks so much, means a lot!

I know that this comment dates from long time ago but I just wanted to say that this is also on Flickr in case someone is interested. The version in his city is much taller than the Ideas project BTW.

Dang, thanks a billion for rediscovering this creation! His heightened skyline version of it is also incredible!  *oh2*

My gosh, I really love this one! It's a full-width meets half-width meets quarter-width trifecta wrapped up in one beautiful color scheme!

Now there's some novel part usage. Minifig legs to create the roof. That's a technique I've never seen before.

I'll have to agree with @Bricked1980 regarding the roof of the first one, as I've never seen that technique before either:thumbup: *huh*

Was same here until today. By a totally extraordinary pure coincidence (I assure you I've done nothing special), I've came across this technique two times and after these posts!  My proof is below:

A beauty indeed, an abode of Sand Green and Earth Orange accenting atop Light and Dark Bluish Grey foundations, with some excellent NPU!

Upon first glance, that just doesn't look like Lego, which isn't a bad thing at all!  *huh*

That's rather... macabre? :distressed:

All three of your picks for today are most extraordinary! I love the Earth Orange archwork on the first one by @Cecilie, that wild looking roof on the Prairie House, and the overall color scheme of that last one by @P@u!+ox:thumbup: :sweet:

@oirad 72 built the second part which is as impressive as the first version! Check out this beauty!

Sorry to reply to this a bit late, but I guess that's because it looks...well...rather dumb (imho!).

Not anything that can be done and is unusual is automatically good. Not a fan of the disembodied legs used as awnings over the windows as well.

Anyway, thanks @LegoModularFan for keeping this up. I already thought a few times that you were dredging the bottom of the infinite pool of modular MOCs, but there always were some real beauties again soon after, so I guess we're not done by a long shot :excited:.

I respect this. Not everyone has the same taste and that's exactly the reason I try to highlight MOCs with different architectural styles! :classic:

That's what I was afraid of as well but with some digging (in the correct places), it's possible to find quite a big number of great MOCs so it seems that this thread won't die anytime soon hopefully...  Hope you post your favorite MOCs as well!

That roof looks awesome and pretty unique. I love all the little scenes going on with the mini figs in this model.

I thought it was a pretty inventive idea to use the leg parts in that way. I agree it is not necessarily the most attractive result but it is still a creative idea.

Also it does seem slightly macabre to use body parts in this way. But lego have been using transparent mini fig heads as plant vases and street lamp bulbs in the modulars for years.

In my opinion, it depends on how the pieces are used. The abovementioned MOC is rather in your face about it, and they are too easily identifiable as minifig legs. While I did not find it macabre per se, it was one of the things that put me off.

But one of the part usages I want to incorporate in some MOC at some point is using inverted minifig legs (individual ones, not the whole assembly) as cornices on a building's facade. It has been done before, numerous times, and I think it looks rather brilliant. I also wouldn't shy away from using arms, or modified arm-pieces like the chicken man's wings as decoration, if there was a way to attach them to anything else than minifig torsos... (if there is, I want to know!)

Btw, if I don't change my mind about it, my next MOC may very well feature a minifig beard piece used as decoration. :look:
