Shadows Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Not sure why I did these, except that they seem potentially useful. As always, they're done at 600dpi so I don't have to smooth them, which means you can simply load one in any paint program and change the colours to whatever you want. Unlike always, I actually provided the background colours as they originally appear. I did this mostly because of the Katara torso, which uses an area of unbordered white. I haven't a clue how to do the printed legs for Aang or Sokka, if anyone has some suggestions on that. The part I can't wrap my mind around is how to properly compensate for the curve of the upper leg surface. Whatever the case, here we go. Let me know what you think. UPDATED: Added Sokka's back decal. I own the whole line (2 sets, haha), but have never opened them, so these are based on online images. If anything is majorly wrong, let me know (I'm not at all sure about the dark red triangles, for example, but it's the best I can tell). Similarly, it was tempting to slightly improve them, but I didn't (I don't like the back strap on Sokka at all, but it seems to be as intended). Quote
iamded Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Very neat! But shouldn't the space just above Katara's necklace be fleshy too? ~Peace Quote
Shadows Posted March 6, 2008 Author Posted March 6, 2008 Very neat! But shouldn't the space just above Katara's necklace be fleshy too?~Peace That bugged me too, but every reference pic I could find showed it filled in a very dark blue. Peeron actually calls it a black choker, which would make it go all the way up like that, but even though they call it black, only the edge is, the rest is definitely dark blue. Quote
iamded Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 You could always make your own version with a fleshy neck. X-D ~Peace Quote
Shadows Posted March 6, 2008 Author Posted March 6, 2008 You could always make your own version with a fleshy neck. X-D ~Peace Well sure, and then I could give her boobies *sweet* and get rid of that silly belt and next thing you know, you've got a torso that would be good for lots of things (um... :-$). It could end a little like this ... The green is the outside area of the decal. It's my official "this isn't going to stay this colour, colour" so I don't usually leave it in, but without it the boobies looked wrong. Why are we still saying boobies? I blame Hinckley, without who's boobies we'd all just be giggling but not saying anything. X-D *y* As always, colours can be adjusted easily, and one could fill the white with something else, but I didn't really know what as black would be too much. Maybe a gradient of dark greys. I also kicked around a slightly different idea for this one, but I'm not satisfied with the result. Not that it's ever stopped me before ... :-P Like I say, not completely satisfied there. :-/ Can't really expect much, I'm not an artist, but I like experimenting with ideas. That one isn't a complete idea yet. Quote
Tanotrooper Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 wow, the last one is really nice! *sweet* Yet, I don't get it why LEGO used dark blue for Katara... I can't remember any dark blue clothes of her... TT Quote
iamded Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 The version with boobies looks nice, but not for Katara. Mainly because Katara's 14 on the show. 8-| Still, those torsos would be great for normal female minifigs. *y* Or maybe, to fit in with the topic, water tribe women. ~Peace Quote

As a matter of fact, my fiance is designing her own decal right now using that torso as a basis and I'll present it eventually. Might be the first one I print and apply. The idea of designing 'clothes' for minifigs seems to appeal to her. *sweet* *y* Water tribe women? *wacko* Quote
BlueBard Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 (edited) Hey thanks for your "boobies" torso. I find it very usefull for a mini-figure in my Harbor MOC here Edited April 1, 2008 by BlueBard Quote
KMOI Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 (edited) Yes! Finally! More Avatar fans to whom I shall gloat to! To start off, you've done an absolutely phenominal job in reproducing the official fig decals! Finally, everyone can share a part of the greatness that is Avatar. Yet, I don't get it why LEGO used dark blue for Katara... I can't remember any dark blue clothes of her... She actually doesn't. The dark blue is actually typically on the sleeves, so I'm also at a loss to understand why they did that. The only dark blue ever shown on a water-tribe member was actually in one of the recent episodes, where Sokka gears up with armor. The "boobies" version is quite interesting! It's perfect! Though the Water Tribe tends to live in completely frozen areas, they do have summer clothing! If there's one thing I might just add, it would be to put a huge cloth belt which covers the midsection. It appears to be the hallmark of female Water Tribe clothing, though that remains to be confirmed. Anyhoo, here are some references of water-tribe women from AvatarSpirit that might help you out! It seemed like an interesting experiment into a potential city decal, so I'm glad you liked the way it ended up. Using this image as a reference, I've made what I think is a more 'show accurate' decal. It's actually on the LEGO colour for violet, not straight blue, but it looks a lot more like it with the wider bands of white and belt. The choker is pretty much all I can do without just filling it in with black completely. More 'show-accurate'? I could do variations of the rest, if there were shots without arms in the way and an interest. If there are any seriously major characters that LEGO didn't produce, I could give them a shot too, with good reference material. Quote
