gormadoc Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 This Wolfpack minifig could be used as a thief. This Tusken Raider torso from Star Wars could be used as well. Emporer Palpatine's torso from this set could be used for some cave herimt. Count Dooku's torso could also be used for something such as a privateer or maybe a herald/messanger. Quote
captain crossbricks Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Okay, so who thinks the new Musketeer figure from Series 4 would be useful for the Pirates range? Musketeer hat? Épée? Yes. I am getting me some of that. Oooh the musketeer would be perfect! Quote
captain crossbricks Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Hello there! I wanted to ask this for quite some time , but I am looking for a few torsos that aren't in the pirate theme. I have been wondering to buy some since im really not liking the new POTC torsos which are really the only pirate option. (Flesh Toned) Please excuse me also if theres already a thread for this type of discussion. Any thing helps! Captain Crossbricks Quote
deskp Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Some of the torsons in the Indiana joens theme could pass for some generic background pirates in my opinion. The 2 guys from the Cairo set. Quote
Captain Bayonet Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Couldn't you just swap the yellow arms and hands for fleshie ones? Hope this helps! ~Bayonet Quote
Haltiamieli Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) There was an earlier discussion about this a while ago, let me see... Here. Couldn't you just swap the yellow arms and hands for fleshie ones? While it's possible in some occassions, unfortunately most of the PotC figs tend to have quite an amount of "fleshy" skin showing in their torsos. Some might not care about that, but I at least am quite pedantic about such matters. This leaves Elizabeth's torso, for example, somewhat useless, even if it's otherwise very nice one. captain crossbricks Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Couldn't you just swap the yellow arms and hands for fleshie ones? Hope this helps! ~Bayonet Yes i know you can do that , but lots of the torsos have fleshie chests showing. And it might sound stupid , but im just picky that way. And Haltiamieli my mistake I am kind of new to Eurobricks. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I'll merge this with the existing thread. Quote
Brig. Brick Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) I'll merge this with the existing thread. that's nice , I've been looking it without success .... this topic should be placed on the INDEX Edited April 28, 2011 by Brig. Brick Quote
Captain Becker Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I think at the new torso from upcoming Alien Qonquests theme set Alien motherships commanders torso would make a very good addition on Pirates line, of course i havent seen the closeup shots from the torso so im not 100% sure, but it surely fits in army use! captain crossbricks Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I'll merge this with the existing thread. Oi thanks for that ill try to take more research if next time. Quote
Dread Pirate Wesley Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I really liked the collectible minifig mime torso from series 2. It makes a fine pirate with black arms, plus its cheap! Dread Pirate Wesley Quote
Admiral of the Red Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Edit: Sorry, I hadn't realised there was already a thread for this... although it seems odd that these two haven't already been mentioned. Another development from recent times that should be mentioned here is the extremely pirate-looking head from Atlantis set 8057. I will be getting that set just for the head. You don't have to get the full set; just go on Bricklink and you should be able to find what you need. Also, the old firefighter costumes fit right in around the 1800s Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I used goldtooth's head, a atlantis head and an old castle head for my male pirates and marion's torso for a female pirate. Works great if you ask me. Zounds, there's a crew in serious need of eye protection. Couldn't you just swap the yellow arms and hands for fleshie ones? Hope this helps! ~Bayonet I know other people do this all the time (there are multiple examples of it in this thread already), but I'm a bit skittish about it myself. It's always been my understanding that although the hands, arms and legs can be easily removed from the parts pre-assembled in the factory, they're not really designed for it the way other bricks are designed to be put together and taken apart, and that doing so stresses the parts and can damage them; is this correct? I tend to consider removal of hands and so on to be damaging or at the very least modding elements, and not really in line with my purist approach... Quote
Laura Beinbrech Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Hello, all! I'm not sure if this has been brought up, but I did a search of the main Pirate index and found nothing, so here goes: I got one of the garden gnomes from series 4 a good while back, just for fun, and while messing around with the parts I noticed something: The Gnome's Torso: looks rather similar to the Imperial Armada torsos.... ...Of course you'll have to BL the morion helmets, but IMO, the combo works pretty good. I would have mentioned this earlier, but I only recently discovered Eurobricks. Soooo.... What do you think? Please forgive me if this has already been brought up. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 20, 2011 Governor Posted October 20, 2011 Well... Uhhhh... Both torsos are red and have belts... But that's kind of where the simularities end. The gnome torso doesn't look very militant but if you were desperate to expand your Imperial Armada army, it might be better than nothing. Quote
Kerntechniker Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 But the torso can be used for a normal seaman or sailor. For this it fits very well and an imperial ship has not only soldiers. So thank you Hikaro for the nice clue. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I agree that this torso could also be used in the Pirates theme. Not sure if it fits a soldier though. Anyway, it would suit this thread quite well. Quote

If you are a purist, then this won't work, but I saw from another source that using a yellow sharpie permanent marker will almost match the standard yellow perfectly. But you have to be willing to "paint." I have made a yellow Jack Sparrow doing that and plan on doing other common flesh figures to see how it looks. I have a dozen Sparrows so if it messed up it wouldn't have been missed. Anyway, just a thought. Quote
MikeHaggarKJ Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Wow, that sounds like an awesome idea! I've been wanting to use the POTC torsos for my yellow figs but I have been unable to do so due to the fleshy skin showing. What kind of marker do you use? =P Quote
Hiawatha Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 These guys from Cario Ambush 7195 are great for Mameluke Cavalry or Barbary pirates. Quote
legomonk Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 (edited) Mostly I see these as useful in part. Primarily the torsos, but sometimes the heads work as well (and the legs rarely matter). Obviously some are later era than others, and some are more military than anything, but we seem to get a lot of military crossover in the theme. I'd forgotten that a Paradisa figure used a Pirates torso, and that there was a non-Pirates Paradisa torso that is so close to a real one (the blue/white without the belt). In some cases, other figures exist with the same torso, and would be equally useful. the bottom ones with the blue white stripe i thought would make great french sailors with the classic blue white stripe sailor shirts anyone know the code on them? i have used many of the ones that have already ben shown in an ESPG and they worked well thanx for people posting other ideas to add. also the new sponge bob set flying dutchman his torso and hat will be great Edited October 20, 2011 by legomonk Quote
Laura Beinbrech Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I agree that this torso could also be used in the Pirates theme. Not sure if it fits a soldier though. Anyway, it would suit this thread quite well. I think it would be perfect for Parliamentary "New Model Army" troops in English Civil War MOCs: English Civil War Soldier by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr ...But that's just me, glad you liked the idea, though. Also, thanks to you and Big Cam for merging my thread.... Perhaps this topic should be added to ye olde Master Pirate Index? Hiawatha: Yeah, the Indiana Jones Arabs and the various figs from the Prince of Persia line would be great for Barbary Coast MOCs (throw in some blue-uniformed US Marines and you could have the invasion of Tripoli :D) Anyways, If I find anything else that might be useful, I'll be sure to post it here. David Thomsen Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I'm amazed these haven't been added already: I'm not sure about this guy, since the collar seems to be very Medieval to me: Then there is the dress in the upcoming Joust set: If you gave that guy a cape, and a hat with a feather in it, he might pass.
