Iruini Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 At what point did you consider Bionicle to go "blah"Perhaps many others had a similiar opinion and this is why we're seeing more SYSTEM pieces in these latest Bionicle sets. ok well the first very 6 came out then the next 6 which were pretty much the same but they had bigger masks and a tiny bit different leg and arm pieces so basically after the first 12 had come out is when i thought bionicle went blah! i dont think that.bionicle is recovering from the awful 2002. :f) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 14, 2005 Governor Posted June 14, 2005 So Iruini, what do you think of the new Bionicle sets pictured at the top of this thread? Do you think the inclusion of the SYSTEM pieces to create Bionicle structures is showing signs of promise for the Bionicle? Quote
Dark_Avenger Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Oh dear dudes! This doesn't sound too promising for Bionicle. It sounds like you're beginning to experience what the SYSTEM builders have been experiencing over the years. So Bionicle is going down hill and only getting worse? Maybe we'll see a loss in popularity and a decline in sales. Mr Wolf is going to be over the moon about this! I still don't get what we're "experiencing." I like Bionicle. TLC puts out new system sets. I don't especially care for them. And quite honestly, I don't give two craps about it. So these new sets range from terrible to mediocre. Does it matter? They're adding on to the line, not replacing anything; despite their presence, we still get the same amount of regular Bionicle sets in 2005. If there're people that dig these sets, that's awesome -- they can get them, play with them, be happy. I don't have a reason to complain because these sets don't meet my standards. Oh, wait, I AM going through what System fans are "experiencing." Quote
Darth_Ewok Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 The thing I don't like about bionicle is they keep re-making the SAME PEOPLE in the same old boring colors, with different names (slightly different) and different bodies. It reminds me of all the power ranger things (dino thunder, ninja, blah blah blah, blah, blah blah, and so on...) Quote

Bah, what's great about Bionicle is the great new things you can do with them - does anyone older than 8 actually build and keep the original models? They are just part packs. You all should check out what can be done with Bionicle and Technic on bzpower contests. This is an example (a good one, better than average to be sure, but there are many like it). Check out the BBC contests at BZpower. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Isaga/Bi...1entrydraft.jpg The community at BZpower is more active than lugnet or any other Lego site. I think they had more entries for the last MOC contest than Eurobricks has total members. Or close, anyway. I know, many people only like building castles and boats and cute vignettes with minifigs. OK. That's OK. Boring. But OK. Peace. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 15, 2005 Governor Posted June 15, 2005 Oh, wait, I AM going through what System fans are "experiencing." Is that a rhetorical question? How do you feel about the one (or significantly less) piece Bionicle figures? SYSTEM builders generally tend to dislike these over sized specialised pieces. But if you're happy with whatever LEGO puts out under the "Bionicle" name regardless of how good the sets may be, then you probably aren't experiencing what SYSTEM builders are. Take Knights Kingdom for example. Some people thing the latest sets are great, other Classic Castle fans won't touch them because they're just not the same. I won't even go into the 4+ Pirate theme Vs SYSTEM Pirates... :^D Quote

-DJ- Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 I have mixed feelings about the "system" BIONICLE sets. The sets are decent, but overpriced. I greatly dislike the one-piece minifigs used in these sets, it would of been pretty easy to make them like battle droids, but instead LEGO makes them all one-piece. I'll admit I Quote

I'm saying that there's no reason for me to hold anything against them. They're not replacing anything, affecting anything, and they at least cater to the tastes of some other people. My point is that I'm "going through" the same thing as System fans, except I have a different attitude about it. (Seriously, some of you brick purists have to lighten up.) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 16, 2005 Governor Posted June 16, 2005 Lighten up? Just let me install a couple of light globes in my ears... There we go! I'm I've lightened up now! But in other respects, NO!!! LEGO is dependant upon its consumers buying their products. If the consumers are dissatisfied with the products on offer, then they shouldn't be expected to purchase it. We want quality! Not quantity, which is what we'd be getting if we just purchased whatever LEGO released for us. "Value for money" is a phrase that springs to mind right now. If we don't feel like we're getting value for money then we're not happy with the product. We're entitled to have expectations and demands, LEGO can choose not to meet them or not - this may eventually result in us nolonger purchasing their new products. Here in the 21st century there's more means than ever for mass purchasing just the LEGO we want, so no longer are we reliant upon whatever LEGO puts on the shelves. We can just go to BrickLink and eBay which is something that couldn't be done 5-10 years ago. If LEGO don't tailor thier products to our needs then they might find themself out of a business. Of course we could just accept whatever they give us and be semi content with our purchase. Without us the consumers, they are nothing. Ok, that's from an extremest perspective and I'm exaggerating slightly to get my point across... But if they want me to buy their LATEST stuff they've got to give me a good reason to part with my money. Quote
Dark_Avenger Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I don't think LEGO's gonna do much better than they are now. If you're old enough to sign up on a message board and type in semi-intelligent posts (at the very least) and share some hard-hitting opinions, you're older than a lot of LEGO fans. LEGO's target audience is several years younger than the majority of us here, and they're going to put their focus on listening to them. Think about it -- a teen or adult LEGO fan walks down the aisle, sees the new Bionicle sets, and groans, aggrivated that there are so many specialized and <insert that tiresome argument> pieces instead of a complicated contraption like the Mindstorms or something. A kid walks down the aisle, sees the new Bionicles, and goes, "Cool toy!" and they buy it. Unfortunately for some, there're more people shouting "Cool toy!" then there are groaning. (Incidentally, I'm 15 and I still think "cool toy!" when I catch wind of the new Bionicle, Adventurers, Knights' Kingdom, Harry Potter, etc. As long as they aren't Jack Stone-based. ;) ) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 16, 2005 Governor Posted June 16, 2005 You're absolutely right Dark Avenger! LEGO is targetting for a younger audience and I was exaggerating my last post suiting it to my self centred opinion. Its just a shame that LEGO couldn't maintain the same quality of sets that they were released when I was younger. And this is why we have this thread! Users can report their opinions and the opinions of people they know which may include younger children. Its good to have an all round opinion. But anyway... It doesn't matter what kind of Bionicle it is because I'm gonna groan at it all! Quote
Grievous Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Those are the playsets. The one with the cannon is called Tower of Toa. The one with the gold Visorak head is called Visorak battle Ram. The one with the huge Hau mask is called Battle of Metru Nui. Quote
keetongu Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Argh maties thar be another playset called visorak's gate for $40. |-D |-D *twisted* :^D :^^D Quote

Do you think the inclusion of the SYSTEM pieces to create Bionicle structures is showing signs of promise for the Bionicle? No,a thousand times,no!I don't like the playsets. Here are the reasons: 1.They are outrageously priced. 2.The toa Hordika do NOT have spears. 3.They just don't look good,by the way. Those are my reasons for not liking the Bionicle playsets Quote
keetongu Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Wht 4+Bionicles??????????I have the first 2 at the top,and their awesome.I don't have the third-bottom 1,wah. :( :'( Quote
