August 9, 20186 yr Hey guys, after a little timeout last month, I resumed working on the Sandcrawler over the weekend! I have made further small changes to the interior and the cockpit! I will post more pictures in the next few days!
August 10, 20186 yr Thanks for the pictures. Any tips on how to connect the ball and socket plates without knickknack them off or destroying the hull sections? Though I can't even get to the point where hull sections might get destroyed since the plates are connected by so little and to much resistant with the ball and socket.
August 10, 20186 yr You have to support this ball joints with some extra plates! I first attached the ball joints to the cockpit, separated the cockpit into two parts, and then reassembled it on the model! I have the upper side walls attached last, so you can see the ball joints! In addition, you have at least some space for your hands! Sorry for the bad English ball joints seperate in two pieces And some more pics
August 10, 20186 yr English looks good to me. Thanks for tips. I figured out I had to split the front cockpit hull section in two. Less strain. I hadn't thought of the strengthen part yet so thanks for that. Will try to attach tonight and study pictures when I get home from movies.
August 12, 20186 yr Almost done now! I think I will make some small changes to the cockpit top panel, but I have to order some parts for that! _MG_5854 by steffen black, auf Flickr Edited January 14, 20232 yr by bricksmarlin
August 13, 20186 yr Author Looks incredible! The modifications you put including lighting took this model to the next level. Always a pleasure to see another Sandcrawler completed! -Christian
August 13, 20186 yr Looks incredible, love the mods too. I ended up going down the SNOT route for the roof and cockpit section, maybe getting slightly carried away!  Bricksmarlin; how did you attach the plates here, can’t see the half pin, yet on mine it looks very noticeable. Thanks for your help. Â
August 17, 20186 yr Greetings All I am currently building the sandcralwer and was wondering if anyone can tell me or show me what connects to the axle circled in the following photo Any help with this would be greatly appriciated Cheers Sebastion

The half pin is correct, just cut off the small "lip"! 9 hours ago, unclesebby said: Greetings All I am currently building the sandcralwer and was wondering if anyone can tell me or show me what connects to the axle circled in the following photo Any help with this would be greatly appriciated Cheers Sebastion  It's for the main hatch!
August 17, 20186 yr So I have also taken on this incredible MOC, I have attached some pics to show my progress. Bricksmarlin do you have any pics of the electrical setup? Â
August 18, 20186 yr To those already building this, are the printed tiles part of the original build ? I took the part list on Rebrickable to start estimating costs, and I did not see any printed tiles, which is puzzling :/
August 18, 20186 yr no the printed tiles are just how you can personalize the interior, the instructions just have plain bricks. Be aware that there are some key pieces that are sold out on Bricklink and Lego, namely Reddish Brown 4215b (x93), I purchased 2362b (x183). Finally the linear actuators to lower the front door was not included in my parts list, I was able to find them for $10 US.
August 18, 20186 yr The printed parts are not in the manual, but in the LDD files! It therefore makes sense to compare these with the instructions! Then Export BOM and you have the parts!
August 18, 20186 yr I'm just considering collecting the pieces at the moment, didn't buy the instructions yet so I only have the rebrickable part list to work with. Nevermind, it should be enough to identify the main choke points :)

Not really to be honest! All the pictures I took can be found here, https://www.imperiumdersteine.de/index.php?media/albums/sandcrawler-wip.6792/ but I do not think that helps! But, there are 3 rechargeable batteries, 6 XL motors, 2 M motors and 3 IR receivers installed! Battery 1 --- all LEDs are directly connected to this battery Battery 2 --- is connected to receiver 1 --- Receiver 1 controls 4 XL motors ( tracks right side, left side / 2 motors on one output)! Battery 3 --- is connected to receiver 2 and receiver 3 --- Receiver 2 controls 2 XL motors for the main hatch (both on the same output) --- Receiver 3 controls 2 M motors (winch on output 1 / conveyor belt on output 2)! Hope that helps a little bit! P.s. The 3 IR receivers are exchanged for 2 SBrick (BT) receivers! Edited November 10, 20186 yr by bricksmarlin

August 26, 20186 yr This is indeed an incredible MOC. I love the details on the top. How do you manage to split the wheight on the 4 tracks. It's incredible what they have to carry.
