I would like to present a 1:42 scale model of one of the largest haul trucks in the world, Caterpillar 797F.

The model has the following features:

  • Full suspension;
  • Transmission with planetary reduction;
  • Remotely controlled propulsion and steering, body raising and lighting;
  • Folding ladders.

The scale of the model is minifigure compatible.

Thank you for your attention!

It was at first view, I would have to see the 797 you took as a model but I feel that the angle of the back part of the bed is too pronounced and makes it seem small, it is just an opinion the truck is equally impressive and these things are only noticed by those who are continually seeing machinery.

Absolutely stunning. Your attention to detail is incredible. I especially like the way you made the steps at the front. Very creative.

Is wedging tiles in between studs, like the ladder on the front, considered an illegal build technique? It doesn't bother me, but I wondered how you felt about such matters.

Anyway, I wish my building was as polished as yours.

At least it's allowed by Lego Digital Designer.

I'd like to know more about the planetary transmission. Is it RC, or not?

I'm sorry, I didn't mean a gearbox, it's just a planetary reduction.

Is the scale close enough to your Bucyrus to make some nice photo's together? (1:42 vs 1:48)

Initially I wanted to make them in the same scale but I couldn't find suitable Lego tires. I tried putting the models side by side and found that it looks quite weird.

Now imagine to fit V24 engine in this beauty :wink:

As far as I know, 797F version uses a 20 cylinder engine. Anyway, I ran out of space. At least I have a large fuel tank! :laugh:

Superb detailing and photography!

Thank you! Looking forward to your version! Larger scale brings more possibilities! :classic:

Will you be offering instructions for this beauty?

Probably not. I found that collecting all those yellow parts is quite a painful exercise. :wink:

Superb model! Smooth driving with 5kg is verry impresive. And now a vid with the Bucyrus loading the Cat  to make it complete :classic:
