CopMike Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Thanks dunamis for an excellent review *y* *y*! Lot of great pics with funny remarks! I can only join the YES-choir and say: I love it *wub*! What a nice set! Street On copmike Quote
LegoFranks Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Do the CC/GG/MS sets fit well with the 50th anniv. town plan? My impression is that out of the box, at least, they don't. Which is too bad. However, I don't think it would be hard to mod the Town Plan so it looks like it belongs in the same town as CC/GG/MS. Have already modded the cinema to fit, has a bigger screen at back, rather than the poky one on the side! Will post pictures when I have the time! M. Quote
chris_austin Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Great review, thanks very much for all the pictures and description! This set looks amazing (so much detail and thought put into it) and good value for money even though the price tag is to high for me. Just one thing though... looks like one of the printed tiles on the side of the door is too high :-P Quote
Brickmaster Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Gosh, this set is amazing *wub* I am no city junky anymore, but all the amazing details and peices could be useful in so many other areas aswell. Astounding detail and accuracy. Brilliant, thank you for such an informative review. Quote
darkrebellion Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Great review Dunamis, good job. I simply *wub* this set. I wish the TLC learn and use the same building skills and bring a good star wars scene set with this detail :'-) . Quote
Zarkan Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Awesome review, Dunamis. I know I wouldn't have the patience to upload all those pictures.... ;-) And, WOW. This set is just incredible. The attention to detail is just AMAZING. All the little touches (the fire escape, the grandfather clock, the freezer, the lamp, the awning, the rodent hole) make this feel more like a minaturized version of a real building then a toy. This has truly brought TLC's standards in sets up to the levels of AFOLs, and it makes me wish that I had the money to buy it and the hundreds of other sets I've missed out on. *sad* Ah well, at least TLC will still be around when I am an adult and have a job - with sets like this, there's no way TLC could ever go out of buisness, permitting that they keep it up. *y* Quote
blueandwhite Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Great review. Thanks for taking the time to do this. This has been a great line. At the risk of abandoning my Castle/Adventurer loyalties. I've got to say this is rapidly becoming my favorite line and this set looks to be the best of the lot. While it still hurts to shell out $150, I think I'll still be happy to do so. Steve It's a good kind of hurt :-D . And remember, it hurts even more outside of the US. Looking at these photos, this has to be the most beautiful set I've ever laid my eyes on. It's simply an amazing set with an unparalleled amount of detail. No wonder the city line has become so popular. I too love this line, but I will never abandon my medieval heart *knight* ! Looks to be the set of the year. Quote
Ickelpete Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Yet another great review from Dunamis *y* Thanks. What really sets this apart from cafe corner is the interior detail I wonder if TLC would consider releasing a interior detail set as an add on for Cafe corner. I'm off to the lego shop this week to pick one up. Quote
dunamis Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 Just one thing though... looks like one of the printed tiles on the side of the door is too high :-P LOL, you are absolutely right! Thanks for letting me know, I just fixed it. Quote
Holodoc Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Like the set, this review also deserves a 10/10. I totally agree - awesome review! Thank you so much, Dunamis! *wub* Though it Quote

Zaktan of the Shadows Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Thanks for the review! Woah, is that set dead sexy, or what? *wub* Love the mouse. -ZotS Quote
iamded Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 After reading your Market Street review, then moving onto this, I see this set is far superior. It's packed full of stunning, ingenious details, great interiors, it's just like someone's MOC! Thanks for the wonderful review, Dunamis! *y* *y* ~Peace Quote
astoriabluelegos Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I personally don't have ANY of these sets yet. :'-( But I REALLY want to get the for my City! I think all three together looks AWESOME! :-D Quote

Thanks for the wonderful review, Dunamis! *y* *y* ~Peace I agree that Market Street is a nice set, but Green Grocer is much better. Quote
Brickadier General Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Thanks for the thorough review! The details in this set really out shine the other 2 sets. I didn't think they would do buildings with interiors and was surprised that they went all out with this set. The mouse hole was a cool little whimsical feature. I hope this level of detail carries over into future releases. Quote
jayber1974 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I was already getting impatient waiting for mine to arrive! Your review, with all the accompanying photos, has cemented why I wanted this set and how I don't want to wait for it to arrive. Thank you Dunamis for such an excellent review of such an excellent set. 10/10 Dunamis, and 10/10 TLC !! now to develop some patience!!! Quote
hoang Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 i received this one like 2 days ago, it actually took me 8-9 hrs :-P i bought all 3 series at the same time so i have yet to build the others. i thought after building this one it'll be give some ideas on interiors as well as the other link posted previously. i definitely agree on a high score but they could have put more interior like maybe a couch or tv or even a bed, but i guess it's a demanding on my part. oh well i'll make some myself. *y* Quote
giorgio Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 It's gonna be hard for Lego to do better !!! But I'm sure thet they are going to give us some new nice modular houses next year ! Quote
arrikitawn Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 what a beautifully set full of details... sure ill buy it... thanks fos sharing.. greetings Quote
Turaga of Force Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Wow, lots of details! Thanks for posting the review! I want the 3 modular sets, but don't have any yet... this makes me want them all the more! Quote
mutley777 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 *wub* I picked this beauty up in the brighton lego store today. I can't wait to start building it. Quote
M'Kyuun Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 A remarkable set. Just ordered mine a couple days ago; can't wait for it to arrive. Does anyone know if Jamie designed this too? Just curious, as it bears the hallmarks of his style. The dated clothing and the building's overall style really make this feel like a vintage set from the past. I love it! I hope that the next building in this line is more municipal in nature, say a town hall, or a museum, or as someone mentioned before, a bank. I'd love a musem, personally, as it'd be a great way to put pieces and parts from across all the historic themes into one set, as well as incorporating different architectural styles as well. Quote

I like both ideas. A band would fit in nicely with the theme and as you said, a museum would be a great way to showcase many different styles as well. Quote
