robbo Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Wow, you're lucky. That was fast! Hopefully mine arrives soon too - I ordered on 3/3. I couldnt believe my eyes...it only took 7 days and it may have been earlier except for the monday public holiday. This was in fact quicker than express shipping parcels i have received in the past. Just got to find time to build it now..lol..maybe easter Quote
Siegfried Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Hope you get it tomorrow then so you have something to do this weekend!I really "dislike" (better Hinckey-Dink?) waiting on a set that you know soon will be delivered, it doesn Quote
Hellingly Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I found the Lego store in Brighton yesterday (thanks Mutley) and came home with the Green Grocer. I've spent a total of 6 hours today building the ground and first floor, which surely can't be bad for somebody who hasn't done any proper Lego building for years? Quote
shaggy Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 (edited) Well I finally finished! I bought Market Street at the same time and was blown away when the Green Grocer box dwarfed the MS set. MS is tiny in comparison. I love the interior in Green Grocer and honest now want to retrofit my other buildings. The only complaint is the fire escape is goofy. Looks like they used harpoons for railings...huh? well whatever. That and some of the parts in the fire escape didnt fit very well. Nice addition though. Whish they would have engineered it better though. The whole thing took me 2 evenings to put together Edited March 22, 2008 by shaggy Quote
alex54 Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I'm so happy! I have bought the last box of GG at LEGOLAND Deutchland! It takes me some houres to build it, what a pleasure! :'-) And finally, my previous jugement was real after the building : Yet GG is a great building, with a nice look. The only small complainis about how the top frames of the windows of the firts floor are done, they are a little too blocky for me. It's a very small details of course! But GG doesn't bcome with some so special building technics. Hoppefully we have those interior details, which look better in real! Can't wait to see what the third building will be... And now, I have to work on a smaller version of this GG... Quote
optimus-convoy Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Oh man, I want this thing. It looks like such a fantastic build. And I've always wanted to try one of these super-detailed-modular town buildings. This seems like a good place to start. But that price tag... ouch. Maybe I'll wait and see if I can get it for my birthday. *sweet* Quote
Mr. Builder Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Oh boy. i'm in real trouble now. I can't decide what to get. Green Grocer or RGS (coming soon) or ahhhhh! I will have no money left this year at all. :'-( Quote
MatthewUSA Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Thank you very much for the great review!! I love the great details LTC added in this set :'-) . I definitly want this set after viewing your pics. They gave this set great justice, being able to see the details. VERY AWESOME!! Model On!! Quote
Legocastlegirl Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Thanks for that nice review!! Great job!! This set is so awesome. All that nice details, my favourites are the fridge and the wall clock *wub* I shouldn´t go to my legostore the next weeks. It´s so hard to see it and can´t buy it. Greetings Sandra Quote
Svelte Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Nope, looks like I have to wait until Monday. :'-( Thanks for the good wishes though. :-D (I got new Lego today anyway! X-D ) Hey Sinner, did you get yours yet? Mine still hasn't arrived, which is a shame as I was looking forward to Green Grocery easter goodness over the long weekend. :-( Quote
Siegfried Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Hey Sinner, did you get yours yet? Piranha Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Excellent Review! *y* The detail is amazing like in all other modular buildings! I love the mouse and cheese feature :-D Very good interior, the grocery area is cool Finally Minifigs have somewhere to buy food! Quote
Eilif Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Excellent Review. It made it hard to wait for this set. I Just finished building it with my wife this weekend. It really is now my all time favorite LEGO set. There were a few small complaints that I haven't seen mentioned. One is that the three small windows on the rear of the building are placed so that they are at foot level of the interior stair and not at head level. It would have been easy to place them at appropriate height by shifting them all up wards or right a couple of bricks. Also, the 6-high door onto the roof is taller than necessary. A 5 high door looks much more appropriate. That said, it was an easy mod, and it's nice to get one of the new 6 high black door pieces. Well done TLG, the bar has been raised again! Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted March 20, 2008 Eurobricks Emperor Posted March 20, 2008 Look what I received in the mail *sweet* *sweet* *sweet* This weekend I'll build the GG! Quote
legobear Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 After reading the review, I too went out and got Cafe Corner and Green Grocer. I left Market Street alone for now because I dislike the fact that they put the stairs right in the middle of each room. Furthermore, MS looks so <insert that tiresome argument> compared to the work done in CC and GC. In my opinion, they have only come out with two substantial quality sets, and not three as stated in brick journal. I can't wait to see the third installment (4th for some of you) in 2009. Thanks again for the wonderful review Dunamis *sweet* Quote

Thanks again for the wonderful review Dunamis *sweet* I fully agree with your analysis. Like you, I didn't buy Market Street because it isn't of the same design quality as the GG and CC. Quote
Eilif Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest the purchase of Market Street. I have all 3, and while Market street differs stylisitcally from the other two, I found that it was packed with interesting building techniques and alot of great pieces. I enjoyed the build as much as Cafe Corner The center mounted stairs of the modular house standard are a bit odd, but it's part of the modular rotatable designs. Also, it's an easy fix to move location of the stairs. Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Thanks Dunamis! Great review, I sooo must have this set. I have to disagree about Market Street though, as I've stated before it's my favourite of the three. It has a perfect size - not too large, not too small. It has many interesting building techniques which I thought were really cool, and I really like the colour. I don't agree it looks <insert that tiresome argument> at all. Quote
shaggy Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Here is the 3 of them together! I think you need the market street too! Quote
legobear Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I'm still not convinced that Market Street is worth it. It's essentially 3 cramped floors stacked on top of each other w/o sufficient space for things. Secondly, it has a false basement. Third, GG is a better concept than a bazarre but again those are my biases and opinions. So I'll still be waiting for the 3rd installment : ) of GG and CC type builds. A little note on the side, for any of you who were inspired to get Cafe Corner because of Dunamis's wonderful review, amazon has it for $119.00 USD. I bought mine at the LEGO store because of this Green Grocer review then returned it, and bought it at Amazon (free shipping too)and saved 30 bucks. So if any of you are in the U.S, get em while they last there (cheaper I've seen). (I tried posting it in buy sell trade but it said I was restricted from doing so, don't know why) Quote
Ickelpete Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I got my Green Grocer set on Friday and it was going great until I realised I had one of the Bag 3's missing and am not able to complete the top floor you can imagine how P*$%%* off I am, I have E-mailed TLC hope to get replacements soon. I have over 40 pieces missing. On the subject of Market street Yes it is not as detailed as Green Grocer it only has half the parts after all but for the cost it is well worth purchasing there are some great techniques used in the build. Svelte Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 No. I've been hanging out for it every day too. :'-( If it doesn't come today I'm going to be a grumpy guy all Easter.... Mine finally came today - hope yours arrives too (if it hasn't already!) Quote
Siegfried Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Mine finally came today - hope yours arrives too (if it hasn't already!) No, not yet. I'll be eagerly awaiting it tomorrow... just like I have every day for the last week or so... *wacko* Thanks for the news though! *sweet* Quote
BoboVespa Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 My Green Grocer arrived in Perth today so yours shouldn't be too far away (if you ordered it straight away). Quote
