Teo LEGO Technic Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 (edited) Hey guys! It's been a little while since the last build, but I've got a new model. This time it's a class 1 offroad racing buggy like the one in the DIRT2 video game. It has servo steering and two RC motors powering it. Suspension on the front is double wishbone, and rear is trailing arm. My main goal was to make it fast, sturdy, and look good, and I feel like I got a pretty good balance. The only drawbacks are that the steering isn't very precise, and the IR receivers don't get as much reception as I would like outside in the sun. Still, it was a lot of fun to film, hope you guys like the video. Enjoy! Edited March 19, 2018 by Teo LEGO Technic Quote
Aventador2004 Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Nice! Like a real buggy. How does it preform with the battery on the rear? Quote
Jurss Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 (edited) Nice, but does that 12t gear really hold on there on the bottom? Edited March 19, 2018 by Jurss Quote
sirslayer Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 cool video, durable small model, good performance, great job!! Quote
1gor Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 It looks nice, but just one question - isn't it a bit to wide? Quote

It drifts nicely. 6 hours ago, Jurss said: Nice, but does that 12t gear really hold on there on the bottom? I was actually surprised but it never fell off, there's no torque on it so that helps, it just has to turn the wheel. 3 hours ago, sirslayer said: cool video, durable small model, good performance, great job!! These cars are pretty wide for stability. 68050-1332394005-gtaiv-2012-03-22-09-22-23-43 by Teo's Technic, on Flickr That's the original I was modelling. What do you think? Quote
kbalage Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Very nice build, compact and fast :) Really like it! Quote
agrof Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Very capable, sturdy and fast buggy! (Btw: not too wide, it looks accurate for me.) A bit on the critical side: the paneling could be more smooth to give a more coherent appearance, and the light bar should be on the front of the cabin. Despite it's incorrect position, the steering wheel is a nice gimmick. All in all, it is a very good MOC, I dig it. Quote
letsbuild Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Looks really good! I look forward to the day I have 2 buggy motors! Quote

I tried out a couple different roof designs, but decided I was starting to make it too detailed and loaded, as I have a tendency to do, which would reduce performance due to added weight. 45 minutes ago, letsbuild said: Looks really good! Tomik Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Cool buggy! It reminded me my favorite buggy from old PC game Offroad. Quote
rm8 Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 (edited) Very good work. Hope, one day, you will get Buwizz. One can replace 2 LEGO Battery blocks and 2 receivers.... Edited March 20, 2018 by rm8 Quote

My next build is going to be a slower, indoor type of car though so I should be ok for now By the way I love your super fast baja, it was an inspiration for this build! Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 Cool little buggy! Fast and sturdy, I like it. Quote
