Posted March 24, 20186 yr This is the continuation of Bodi's Capture of Gregory Decker. Comments and criticism are welcome. The capture of the infamous Gregory Decker resulted in a great hive of activity in La Royal. A variety of nations began requesting Gregory be extradited to face punishment for his crimes, each request requiring diplomatic poise less the denial result in a international incident. From there, the admirals had to determine where to hold Gregory’s trial and subsequent execution. Many proposed Porte du Tatarus, the notorious execution dock in Granoleon, but ultimately it was decided that Gregory’s death would receive more publicity in New Terra where his reputation was widespread (back in Halos, he would simply have been one criminal rotting away amongst many). Once these decisions were out of the way, the trial began. Each day for almost a week, Gregory was brought before a panel of captains where the evidence was presented, former shipmates confessed to their wrongdoings in hope of some semblance of mercy, and the full nature of Gregory’s crimes was officially recorded. Throughout it all, Gregory remained defiant, cursing and threating his crewmen who betrayed him and seemingly unaffected by the beatings he received for speaking out of turn. But all that was different now. Unsurprisingly, Gregory was found guilty on every charge, and the senior captain set a date for the hanging. To ensure enough time for the news to spread across the region, and more importantly to allow for the convoys to arrive so that their crews could witness the punishment, the date would be several weeks in the future. The End of Gregory Decker by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Finally the day came. The courtyard of Mont Michael was crowed with civilians and sailors, officers and officials lining the terrace’s edge. The audience was eager, and they didn’t have to wait long. Soon after the commandant appeared a door opened, and a frail image of the once-feared Captain Gregory Decker appeared between two guards. He was weak, sickly, and retreating from the sun’s rays, dressed in nothing more than rags. Still, he remained defiant, spitting and cursing at the priest who offered one final chance to confess his crimes and perhaps be saved from the worst the afterlife had to offer. The End of Gregory Decker by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr As Gregory was marched to his fate, the crowd became more enthusiastic. It wasn’t every day that a famous pirate was brought to justice, and Gregory’s notoriety resulted in all sorts of rumors. Some claimed that Gregory’s allies would mount a daring rescue and save him from the gallows at the last moment, others believed that Gregory had mystical powers that would save him from death, but the vast majority of the crowd was simply interested in seeing justice served. The End of Gregory Decker by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr The End of Gregory Decker by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr The crowd became quiet Gregory climbed the gallows’ stairs. The noose was placed on the pirate, the hangman took his place, and an official read the verdict and sentence. Drummers began a drumroll, the hangman pulled the lever, and a loud cheer went up from the crowd. After a short while, the lifeless body was removed, once again to deafening cheers, and taken away to be branded with two P’s (one so the judges of the afterlife knew of his guilt, and the second so the judges knew he was unrepentant, as is Olean tradition). Almost as soon as Gregory’s body was removed, the door to the prison opened again and more pirates were lead out. A full third of Gregory’s crew had been sentenced to hang. It was an unusually high percent, but La Royal was looking for an example to be made, and no one in the crowd was complaining. The End of Gregory Decker by Capt. March 24, 20186 yr The build is awesome. I like the story an how it portays the culture of Orleon. I especially like the place of minifigures and the various poses. The archways are well done and eye catching.
March 24, 20186 yr Did I read it right? Oleon already planned the execution before the trial was started? That doesn't really sound like a fair trial was held. Excellent work on all the stone work and minifig posing.
March 25, 20186 yr This is a great build, I particularly like the stonework behind the arches, but the scaffolding, steps, cannons, line of soldiers, all really help to set the scene!
March 25, 20186 yr Amazing build, CG! Great writing as well. There are so much to like, such as the fully tiled floor, and arches and the stone wall behind the arches as Kai mentioned. Nice minifig posing too.
March 25, 20186 yr Marvellous Oleander architecture. That looks absolutely amazing. I'd suggest a small crack somewhere in the wall, and a little bit of dirt on the ground somewhere. But that's about it and takes absolutely nothing from the greatness of this MOC. Love it!
March 25, 20186 yr Capt G, that is a "nice" execution! I also enjoyed the crowd watching. I am not overly sold on the roof style though (the black one) but all in all this is a lovingly crafted moc! Oh, and tiling makes that moc shine even more ;-)
March 25, 20186 yr Im really impressed with the point work on the blocks filling the arches ... Any chance to get a breakdown on your method for this? Over all its a very convincing scene the posing and story play together nicely
March 26, 20186 yr Fabulous - loving the details and especially that stone wall here, and exciting to see that there's now one pirate threat less in the Brick Seas (well, maybe not - I'm sure there are plenty of others to take his place! )

The minifigs were rather challenging to pose (especially when taking pictures), but it's certainly worth it. On 3/25/2018 at 1:59 AM, Elostirion said: Marvellous Oleander architecture. A crack in the wall would be a good idea and I may have to experiment with that the next time I use this technique. On 3/25/2018 at 7:31 AM, blackdeathgr said: Capt G, that is a "nice" execution! Darn algorithms.

Genaro, on Flickr The top part shows the retaining walls that prevent the pieces from sliding to the sides or back. The middle and bottom part show the two alternating layers. I'm sure you could use bricks with studs on the side to connect the whole wall, but I don't have enough of those parts for such a design. The windows are added by removing the center parts of the bottom layers and sliding the windows in place. I hope this helps.
March 28, 20186 yr CG, sorry to be late to comment. Wonderful work, both story and build! I love the arches and stonework of the fort, and the figure posing and photography is excellent! As someone else commented, I like how the story of the trial and hanging tells us about Oleon's culture as well. Fabulous job!
March 29, 20186 yr Puts my hanging scene to shame. Well thought out and constructed. Even though you killed a pirate this deserves a Great Job!
April 1, 20186 yr Awesome hanging scene CG. I like that it is conducted in an official place like a fortress and that both crowd and official characters are to witness the scene. As others have said, there are some interesting building techniques and it gives us a view into Olean society. My only comment is that the white accents seems to clash a bit with the dark grey of your brickwork. Looks a bit odd to me. In general, awesome moc and story!
