Imitating dust from running fast

I am trying to imitate the cartoony look of dust being thrown up when a figure runs fast. Something like the old speedy Gonzales cartoons. I have done a bit of searching but haven't found any good lego examples of this so far. I have attached an example of what I have right now but I don't have a solid connection. Does anyone have another example of imitating this or ideas for a solid connection?

Well the ice-cream parts are normally used to make smoke/dust, so that's probably the best place to start, I just think you might need more of them...

or scatter 1x1 round plates in either trans clear or the ground colouring behind the figure. Works OK for sandy type landscapes with tan.

I’ve often seen 2x2 round plates (turned sideways) used for smoke.  You’d have to use a SNOT brick to connect the first one to a foot, but then you could daisy chain several plates to create a dust cloud.
