Well, here in the US, Early Spring 2008 product catalogues are being sent out. But something strange is of them. They are half the size of a normal one, and open a starange way. If anyone else has these, please share your info.

Do you have any pictures? And by 'open in a strange way', so you mean they open horizontally like a calendar? X-O

They have a cover flap that is glued down. Once opened, the catalog opens normally. It's an early Spring supplemental catalog, promoting the Green Grocer and some other stuff. I think they just wanted to get some product out there. I'm sure we'll see a full size one soon...

Not yet. And here is what I mean:

The catalogue is very skinny. It's basicly half of the normal product cat. But It has a flap on the left side, with two sticky glue parts, that hold down another page. Opening the flap and pulling the page that has the fold on the right will open up to reveal the smaller magazine inside, that is fastened down to the back page.

Pics will be up later.

I also got this. It has have as many pages as well as being have the dimensions. The troll battle wheel ($39.99) and Green Grocer ($149.99) are in it! It opens in a weird way... well, it's kind of hard to explain. The first page folds over, so after opening a small flap that is sealed shut, you open the page backwards (it's connected at the right instead of the left) then the catalog inside is normal.

Edit: I see that two other people beat me to it :P

Well, change is good. i'm sure I'll get my copy in soon, so I have a visual. ;-) Certainly sounds odd... X-D

I think the only reasons they sent this mini one out was to show off the Green Grocer and the Troll Battle Wheel

and the show the new prices of the USC ISD and USC DSII, without have to pay a printer to print a full size catalog. This is just, of course, just my opinion.

And If I'm correct There was a mini catalogue (just small, nothing special) for Early 2005 Winter. Oh, and I have added a poll to the Topic, just to make it more lively. :-)

Yeah, I got that yesterday.

I think it's a good thing--it obviously costs less money to print and there's no need for a big one this time of year. There were only four new items that I could see; Makuta Icarax, Troll Battle Wheel, Green Grocer, and this dwarf key chain.

Plus, I don't know about you all but I don't remember getting Early Spring catalogues; I thought they all used to be Late Spring?

I got one this morning. It was weird, like you've described. I wonder if it some preliminary/interim catalog that we get until the new one comes out. I don't recall ever getting an "early spring" catalog before.

Steve

I received my catalog yesterday(3/10/07). I was also surprised to see the size difference. I was disappointed in the size because this took away from the picture quality. I would have *wub* to see more detailed pics of the Green Grocer pics. They were just too small to see any good detail. The only good pic of the set was the front cover *y* .

Model On!!

This isn't the first time I've gotten a small catalog like this... I remember getting a similar one when the Viking sets first came out.

The more catalogs, the more people iwll see them and that means more buyers. ;-)

After I (and mine) check it out from cover-to-cover, I send it off to the neighbor kids...

Looking forward to seeing the catalogue and figuring out the seemingly complex opening. :-D

I was at the Lego Store in Hillsdale Mall (northern CA) today and a lady was asking to see the latest catalog. A store employee put out this 'weird' looking-skinny catalog/more like a sunday store flyer which was already in a beat up condition. I didn't think more of it because I assumed it was one of those store flyers that employees used to have a quick reference on new sets. Now that you guys have mentioned it... that could've been it. And no, I have not yet received my copy in the mail.

You are correct... occasionally TLC will send out a smaller-than-usual catalog. There was also one time wherein the company mailed out a bigger-than-usual catalog. I haven't seen another one since then and I have been keeping copies of each catalog since 1991 (though my collection is not complete).

I got it... sure is weird. :-/

It's got to be a promotional- The conventional would never be that small. Can't really see much in it. Pretty poor substitute for me, who didn't get January's edition. |-/

Yeah, you're right. I think it was the Christmas one, and believe they've done it a couple other times.

I got mine today. I don't mind the mini-ness of it. With Lego.com, the paper catalogues seem irrelevant anyway.

I got mine the other day and it is okay but not only is it small (like the size of the Bionical Comics ) but also it is rather thin. I do enjoy getting it because it shows all the stuff in one place and my kids like it instead of having to go to themes and picking each item.

I think the reason for the rush to get them out was to put the Green Grocier out for everyone to see.

I wish they would have put some of the new stuff in it that is soon to come this year. even if they didnt have prices it would be cool to see the stuff instead of having to get pictures on the web from the toy show.

I have that one!! It has the knight bus on the front.

is there any new or interesting things in it?

I don't know, I haven't read it yet. I am saving it for vacation. :-)

I have that catalog, They had something like it last year, it's just to show the March sets, (though this time they really didn't have a lot...)
