Marshallmario Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 i doubt pestering retail sales people is going to help. if you want, write an email or letter to the executive committee. Somehow I thought calling Lego Shop at Home was like contacting Lego. I didn't mean I was going to badger the kid at Target. What is this executive committee you speak of and how do you contact them? Do you think it would help? Thanks!
astoriabluelegos Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 (edited) As to those commenting about the Hoth Base, I talked to a Lego REP and she said that SO many people have called about that set that there is a fairly good chance IT'LL COME BACK TOO! :-DI really hope you know what your talking about because that would be the best news of the week for me. Makes me want to call Shop at Home just to add my voice to the people pestering them. Couldn't hurt to keep the pressure on. Calling Retail people DOES help, they monitor what people are calling about and pass it on to the people that can utalize that info! :-) Edited March 14, 2008 by astoriabluelegos
natelite Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 astoriablue...i hate to correct you but your reply made you sound like a kid. it's too idealistic and it's just something that a kid would say. retailers even shop@home lego hardly have that kind of access to senior management or decision makers like how you would explain it.

Okay I guess I should clarify, Don't call the standard Shop At Home, *n* Call CUSTOMER SERVICE *y* They are located in the U.S. (At least MINE is anyway) and they do seem to have WAY more contacts and capabilities than the Indians (I'm presuming because of ther accents) that you get when you call normal SAH. The REP I talked to was a Customer Service REP. (Which I should have mentioned before) She's the one who gave me the info about them monitoring what sets are most called-about. Sorry about not being clear and sounding kiddish in the earlier post! ;-) Edited March 14, 2008 by astoriabluelegos

Sorry about not being clear and sounding kiddish in the earlier post! ;-) now you just sound like a racist kid. :-/ do you seriously think that every customer service rep will tell their supervisor about how many clients have been calling about hoth set? do you seriously think the supervisor will tell his/her manager about the hoth set? do you think the manager will bring this up to his general manager about the hoth set? do you then think the general manager will let the executive director of marketing know about the demand for hoth set? most likely your complain ends at the bottom rung of the corporate ladder. the CS rep goes home angry because out of 1000 calls she/he answered today, 990 was about hoth set. she/he probably only can vent to his/her spouse..." darn kids...keep pestering me about some stupid hoth set when i clearly said they are sold out and won't be sold again. i swear i will quit....if only we don't need the money...." meanwhile the executive director of marketing goes about his/her business "hmm, i think we should come up with an endor set next...." lo and behold....christmas 2008 SW limited edition set: battle of endor! either you sign a petition and give to the lego ambassadors (these are fans who have limited access to lego corp decision makers) or you sign a petition and send the letter to the executive director of marketing and sales. complaining to the CS rep will get you nowhere and only cause more frustration to someone earning minimum wage trying to make a living.

Yes, I totally agree with you, I too, can never quite communicate with them sometimes. now you just sound like a racist kid. :-/ do you seriously think that every customer service rep will tell their supervisor about how many clients have been calling about hoth set? do you seriously think the supervisor will tell his/her manager about the hoth set? do you think the manager will bring this up to his general manager about the hoth set? do you then think the general manager will let the executive director of marketing know about the demand for hoth set? why not? if there are enough people phoning up and ask about the hoth set they might re-release it. look at the dwarves mine, that is what probably happened to it. either you sign a petition and give to the lego ambassadors (these are fans who have limited access to lego corp decision makers) or you sign a petition and send the letter to the executive director of marketing and sales. complaining to the CS rep will get you nowhere and only cause more frustration to someone earning minimum wage trying to make a living. well, I did try to start a petition here, which i reckon would greatly help to boost the comeback of the hoth set. but some members here apparently are not so keen on having the 7666 hoth set coming back. As to those commenting about the Hoth Base, I talked to a Lego REP and she said that SO many people have called about that set that there is a fairly good chance IT'LL COME BACK TOO! Good! I must say this is a great start, from now on I too, will call up LEGO (several times a day) to ask about the Hoth set. I am sure if there are enough people doing that on a daily basis we may get to see the 7666 back on shelf in no time.

I don't mean to sound racist, there's nothing wrong with being Indian, nice people a lot of them, I was just stating that they sounded Indian because of the accent, that's not recist. :-| And they don't HAVE to go through all that corporate latter jargon, they just enter what sets people are talking about into a computer database, so then the head boss or whoever looks at the database, and says "Looks like a lot of people have bee calling abot the Dwarves Mine, so much in fact that it warrants a re-release, we'll just raise the price $10.00 to further cover costs, and everyone's happy." ;-) By the way, the way you keep shooting this down it sounds like you don't WANT the Hoth Base back! 8-?
natelite Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 why not? if there are enough people phoning up and ask about the hoth set they might re-release it. look at the dwarves mine, that is what probably happened to it. apparently you didn't know the DM was planned for a comeback BEFORE it was released as a special edition set for Christmas 2007. the news came from a TLC employee. but somehow the rumormongers still managed to convince people that the sets are gone. this was of course different from HOTH BASE where TLC and TRU specifically said this is LIMITED EDITION. notice that DM is SPECIAL EDITION not LIMITED EDITION. the only close comparison is the 6212 x-wing. it was limited edition last year but was brought back for resale this year too. however there are lots of popular limited editions that were not brought back. like the 7264 imperial shuttle. there is a reason why the stormtroopers with printed legs are so expensive. like i said, repeated calling the bottom rung of the corp ladder isn't going to help much. 8-? it is racist because you implied that indians are stuck working customer service jobs (like associating convenience store employees to a person of a specific race). you also implied that indians have poorer access to corp decisions (e.g. the statement you made about talking to a US employee rather than an indian employee will get better results). superior service should not be linked to a person's race or it would be a racist comment. BTW, as I have stated, the DM was SLATED to come back wayyyy before it was released as a special edition set. it wasn't because of your calls to pester customer service that brought it back. seriously. this was discussed to death in december already. you didn't discover something new. I can't find the discussion thread at EB, so I included the discussion at CC. Look at the comments made by Steve Witt. He works for TLC. you were probably listening to asterios too much... http://www.classic-castle.com/forum/viewto...p=149402#149402

Like you, I would like the Hoth Base back, even if it is 10USD more than the first release. I did try to start a petition to get the 7666 Hoth Base back. But somehow surprisingly many members slammed against the idea because they already own a set or a few sets of 7666.

But somehow surprisingly many members slammed against the idea because they already own a set or a few sets of 7666. nobody slammed your idea because they own a hoth set. they slammed your idea because it's naive thinking. like that "computer database" idea by astoria. computer database doesn't just appear out of the blue. it has to be coded. it's not like some customer support guy just decided to code a DB and voila! TLC started using one. decisions aren't made at the low level, and neither is communication that transparent. Your incorrect statement was that if fans whined enough they will bring back the hoth set because it happened with the DM 7036. The statement was erroneous on 2 counts: 1- the target's DM version was a pre-release version, hence the SPECIAL EDITION tag. it was always slated to come back to the store later in 2008. 2 - your complaints on a fansite did nothing to bring DM back. I specifically don't see any complain or request to bring DM back just before you discovered DM was "re-released". in fact, EB members already knew it was coming back in December 2007. Your post was deleted because it was 1: erroneous to begin with, and 2: it incited a lot of raw anger and negative emotions which is not beneficial to EB, hence moderators decided to shut it down. if whining about something actually helps, we would have seen the return of the chrome gold c-3po. THAT MF did cause a lot of complaints from AFOLs. But as we can see once TLC said something is limited, it is LIMITED. maybe TLC will bring that MF back but at this point, don't hold your breath.

Natelight, cool it man! The "computer database" isn't a silly idea,or naive hope, in fact it's NOT AN IDEA AT ALL! IT ACTUALLY EXISTS, LEGO has a database where they record info about what people call about, INCLUDING DISCONTINUED SETS! I actually TALKED to a LEGO REP, who confirmed all this, so you can keep calling us "kiddish", or "naive", or whatever, but I ACTUALLY TALKED TO SOMEONE WHO HAD THE AUTHORITY TO CONFIRM THIS! >:-(

Like we have paid so much money to get engaged with Lego. Surely Lego can at least "try" to listen to our opinion and request. Asking for what is wanted shall always be the right of a customer.

jawa Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 i should just go with the flow... hoth is coming back because some lego rep jury-rigged the phony database to appear like many customers complained about the short lived set. what are you going o about? Hoth base 7666 is NOT being granted a re-release by Lego, so at the moment it couldn't be coming back. However, like I said, if the Lego community reflect enough to Lego about how much many would love to buy this there is a good chance it will be re-released again.
