Hey,

I've noticed that since the website makeover a lot of pictures have had a black backround and say "resized." Does this happen normally with extra large pictures now? Or is it something you still have to do yourself? Thanks,

It's an automatic feature for pictures that are bigger than 800 pixels. That way the staff doesn't have to post a link to the resize pics tutorial every time someone posts humongous pics.

Well I think I destroyed that 800 pixel or bigger thing in my sig at first. my first Bob photo was bigger than most peoples screens. But I screamed X-O, and fixed it.

Could you make it about half that size? It's a little bigger than we like sigs to be. Thanks.

You still should try to keep pictures small though as loading time is still a factor. This feature just removes the obvious problems.

I thought of that while I was posting...we will have to keep an eye out. If the black box says 14% :-D We will need to intervene, I think.

Ah, that so far was the smallest one. Better get back onto google.\

EDIT: Is this good?

:-D :-D :-D Speak of the devil. You can use whatever picture you like, just resize it. To learn about resizing, visit this tutorial.

Is there any way to resize the picture without having to upload a whole new set of resized pics to BrickShelf?

You should try to upload the smallest pic possible to Brickshelf anyway. It helps them with their bandwidth. Resolution for pics for the web only needs to be 72 dpi and the longest dimension 800 pixels or less...

I think 640 x 480 is a reasonable size that doesn't need to be resized. It just bugs me that it resizes even reasonable pics like that so it looks blurry and just a little off. :-/ Still, if it can;t be changed, and it saves us from having massive pics, then I'm all for it.

Since there's an entire set of 2592x1944's in the Impulse entry thread, it's safe to assume that it's been turned off completely. >:-(

But yeah, 640x480 or 800x600 are quite reasonable upper limits that people should be doing on their own.

The feature is still on, it just takes a second to apply...

So, what's the trick to getting the file size down to acceptable limits? I can't seem to reduce anything lower than 84kb, which is much to big for the avatar limit. :-/

If you're clever, you'll find a link to a picture resizing tutorial in this very thread. If it's still too big, you can host the picture on brickshelf...

If memory serves, the resizing tutorial does not apply to my OS.

I can resize the image just fine, the trick is getting the file size down to the acceptable parameters. Like I wrote, I can shrink it all I want, but I can't seem to break through the 76kb wall. I'll keep tinkering.

It took me nearly 12 months to finally sign up here. So, registering on Brickshelf? You're asking a lot! X-D

Hi, I have the technical knowledge of a dead cat when it comes to computers, so please help me with the following question;

Is their any way to stop the pictures being resized, it is getting quite annoying now, the quality suffers a lot and it was a tad annoying having to constantly opening new tabs to look at the pictures for the EB Pirates Episode 2 comic!

Many thanks. ;-)

The EB Pirates2 comic is set to be under the board's required pixel limit. You are probably running off an old script. I guess IE7 is your browser. Go to Tools > Internet Options and delete all offline content. The Pirates pictures should fit nicely in the topic view...

Sorry, I should have mentioned I am using Firefox. Thanks for trying though!
