Grand Admiral Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 We were working from a limited palette in LDD to build these sets, so the only trans red elements I had to choose from were the 1x2 plates. Skulls weren't quite so cliche when we first began talking to LEGO about these sets more than 18 months ago. You were still buying rainbow Knights then. *skull* Quote

Grand Admiral Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Not sure what to make of those Skulls. They seem more like... art pieces than swooshable playable ships to me... I assure you, they're playable and swooshable. :) Quote
Admiral Giddens Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I assure you, they're playable and swooshable. :) And easy to target... *PEW PEW KABLAAMMMMO* Quote

I don't know anything about future sets. I hope we all get better parts selection to choose from in LDD in the future. Quote

I hope we all get better parts selection to choose from in LDD in the future. i want to thank you both for your creations. lego should release these sets in the market instead of mars mission that would have been great and you could both get the pieces you want and the freedom to build better (without sticker torsos) unfortunately shop@home isnt available here so i cant get these sets. (maybe i can get a friend of mine from the UK to get me the sets) i also wonder about the price..if you know how much it would be in europe.. Quote
Grand Admiral Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 (edited) As far as I know, the sets will be $99US / 99 Euro. The Justice set is 895 pieces. The Skulls set has 956. The piece count difference is most likely related to the number of wheels and canopy elements in the Justice sets. Wheels and canopies cost more. Edited March 18, 2008 by Grand Admiral Quote
phoinix Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 As far as I know, the sets will be $100US / 100Euro.The Justice set is 895 pieces. The Skulls set has 956. thnx for the reply it would also be cool if there was an alternate model you could build using all the pieces does lego have a future plan of expanding this space line? have you been asked to create more models? i think this opens the way for more ldd exclusives i think we will see a castle set soon.. (i hope) Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I must say seeing the entire set makes me much more intrested in them, though I'm not a space fan I think that both of them re great sets and worth the price. Quote

(i hope) There are alternate models... YOURS! We built these with the mindset that a Lego Fan wants to build BEYOND THE BOX. If you got these sets you can build the models and then tear it up and go for broke building what you want. While the factory palette is limited, it's still non specialized pieces for the most part. Possibly you'll see alts too... just wait! Quote
Deinonychus Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 The Justice set is 895 pieces. The Skulls set has 956. Ah good...I don't feel quite so edgy now. Sticks fairly close to the "1 Element =$0.10 US" formula that you can pretty much shoehorn most sets into. Although I think I'd have personally paid a few bucks more for printed torsos ;-) I'm already looking at the skull and thinking about how I can combine it with the smaller ships and put big friggin' wheels on it Quote
Grand Admiral Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I'm already looking at the skull and thinking about how I can combine it with the smaller ships and put big friggin' wheels on it That sounds awesome. :-D *skull* Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Wow, I really love the star justice set, not the name so much, but the future-lorry looks great, as does the snotty base!! :'-) Quote
Batbrick Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I'm already looking at the skull and thinking about how I can combine it with the smaller ships and put big friggin' wheels on it I'm loving this idea! *skull* I really want both sets, but admittingly want the skull set more, I love the more corny aspect of an entire fleet obsessed with making every ship the visage of a skull :-D I might possibly be able to get one, the Skulls also have more useful pieces to me. Great work guys! To the Batbrick Cave! >:-) Quote
darkrebellion Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 No :'-( stickers in the torsos, what is that *wacko* . I know it isn´t a mass production set but the stickers in the torso are a bad idea *sing* . Quote

I see... but those red 1*2 plates are ... like .12$USD each according to LDD, pretty *wacko* expensive (probably due to the trans plastic) Could you not have have saved a little by doing something like this? according to LDD, the one on the left is 2.17, the right is 1.17 Thus freeing up the piece count budget to put detail elsewhere... Grand Admiral Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 (edited) The choice was blank torsos or stickers. That's just how it is. Edited March 19, 2008 by Grand Admiral Quote

xenologer Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Image edited to increase contrast. the 1.17 estimate on the right Does include the 4*4 plate they're attached to. Mounting this plate can be done either with a snot brick of some sort, or given the structure of the skull, I'd probably just leave it free floating but interlocked by the surrounding bone structure. Hewman Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 (edited) this is not to put down the hard work of those involved in putting this together, it is way better than anything I could come up with, however there are a couple things that have made me decide not to purchase these. Firstly, the price isn't particularly appealing, and like some of the previous factory sets it looks like they got the piece count up by using lots of smaller pieces. Secondly, the stickers, no, not the fact that they have them, I understand the need to minimise costs, but it is the style of the stickers. I assume these sets being Factory are aimed at an older, more 'sophisticated' Lego fan, however the stickers seem aimed at a very young audience, I don't think they'd look out of place on a spongebob set (I quite like spongebob, but don't want space having a spongebob look). Anyway, I'll finish on a positive note, with instructions available I can build some of the small ships myself from my own parts. Edited March 19, 2008 by hewman Quote
Grand Admiral Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Firstly, the price isn't particularly appealing, and like some of the previous factory sets it looks like they got the piece count up by using lots of smaller pieces. The price is right around $0.10 per piece, which is about average. We would have liked a cheaper alternative, smaller set, but we'll see what LEGO does. BigDaddy Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 What are the ones on the right connected to? The studless vacuum of space, of course. *wacko* SPACE!I agree with the children here: Boo on the stickers. In fact, I demand that all my minifigs from the late 1970's sets that came with torso stickers to be exchanged for free with printed torsos. And, NOT just regular printed torsos for me, either... I want them to be made with Squid ink, 24k gold, and fleebnork droppings. Make sure that happens by yesterday, okay? *skull* me. Quote
Mr. Builder Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 It's just sad to see that we have to put stickers on the torso!!! but ya, these look really good. Quote
