Celeri Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Hi all, Having recently built my Chiron, I foound this pimp topic only now and am VERY interested in applying it. I am ready to order the parts, but lack the time to dismantle the whole thing to re-build it entirely... Has somebody already some "delta" doc that indicates only the spots where changes are to be made ? Or maybe a list of the impacted pages on the offiicial Lego manual ? That would be plain great ! Anyways congratulations to all those who have contributed, that's really impressive work ! Quote

Anyways congratulations to all those who have contributed, that's really impressive work ! Hi Celeri, having just built JB70's modified version of the Bugatti I can safely say that's almost impossible to easily implement all of his changes without having to fully disassemble the set and start-over following his alternate version of the instructions. You can, with a bit of careful study of his instructions and some disassembly: do the door locks, HOG lever for the rear air-brake and possibly the HOG steering. But the remaining mods are all deep in the structure of the model and relate to the drive-train, suspension and gearing. I've published a video on my build of JB70's version of the Bugatti; and I also fitted-off a lighting kit to the model. In my opinion I feel like the mods were more 'subtle' for this time and only improve it slightly over the standard design of the model. In comparison, JB70 did an AMAZING job with his modified version of the Porsche GT3 RS. The mods he included in his instructions for that set dramatically improved that model! I created a second follow-up video to the one above, which is a showcase video of the model (no talking), shot in 4k with details of the mods and model features highlighted: Edited June 21, 2021 by lenzie Quote

I posted my request a little fast, because it only needs a quick examination to all the changes made to understand that one should clearly re-build the whole thing over again: it lowers dramatically the risk of errors, and allows the pleasure to re-descover the set's build process with the enhancements. Following this idea, I have disassembled my Chiron since then, to build an alternate model (this one, which is insanely great in my opinion). I have the "pimp" parts safe in a bag, quietly waiting for the day I will decide to re-build the Chiron. Thanks for your advice nonetheless! Edited June 6, 2021 by Celeri Quote

williamyzfr1 Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Has anyone tried the simple MOD of fitting a third shock absorber on each side of the front suspension? Its been mentioned in this thread once or twice but I believe the idea was discarded as its not accurate or correct. Quote

The 'pimped' version with 2 shocks per wheel does not suffer from sagging (at least not when I built it). Quote

Thanks for the reply, I have decided to go with and already assembled the Torsion bar MOD on page 6 of this thread. Does the pimped version incorporate this? As I am not hardcore and would like to incorporate a simple MOD and still build the original Lego version. My Chiron is arriving on Tuesday! Edited August 1, 2021 by williamyzfr1 Quote

But if you manage to incorporate this idea within the MOD, I am pretty sure its author will be interested! Quote

astyanax Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 @barbanera What I can see is a ton of cosmetic changes, mostly using System pieces to close gaps and increase accuracy. You're approaching Model Team levels here haha! I quite like how you modeled the bottom of the doors. I can see the differences because I spent a lot of time tinkering with the model last autumn. But for others who are interested it might be good if you can highlight some of your favorite mods that you applied... Quote

Maybe it was my wrong impression, but the comment above seemed a bit provocative to me but maybe I'm wrong... i am not familiar with english, and maybe i can misunderstand The additions are essentially aesthetic, then I make a list. But for others who are interested it might be good if you can highlight some of your favorite mods that you applied... list of changes made: compared to the @jb70 version I only omitted Hand of God (HoG) lever for spoiler and air break (I wanted to keep the body line cleaner) and door locking (I used this mod, the solution of jb70 did not work well after my side changes). The other changes are essentially of an aesthetic nature: The radiator has been lengthened by 1 stud and moved further forward. the hood is inspired by the astyanax solution the bottom of the doors (very simple to make). panels # 13 and 14 in dark azure behind the doors have been advanced and raised by 1 stud to have a better line with the door. the front spoiler changed to dark blue like the original. filled the space on the sides of the headlights. closed the space above the front mudguard. added panels #13 and 14 in dark blue behind the doors to better define the "C" line. at the rear the bodywork has been slightly enlarged and some parts have been added to close empty spaces, added a fin to the brake spoiler . a more covering cover has been added to the engine. to the interior added some parts in dark tan the remaining changes to close gaps and refine parts a bit rough. However I did set up a very simple and minor torsion bar set up and it works perfectly. It makes the front bouncy and playful like the rear of the car and it only uses 16 extra very common pieces to do so. There might even be some left overs you could use as well. @Didumos69 if you happen to get a chance to look over this and possibly add it to the LDD as a front suspension correction ootion?! Well I tried this out when I assembled the front suspension and unfortunately each time the suspension is compressed the part holding the sloping tile (SINGLE BUSH 2 MODULE) lifts out of the black CROSS BLOCK 90° as the suspension returns to its rest position. Are the model supplied shock absorbers the extra hard type? I have ordered two extra hard to see if there is any difference. Hi William, i built my chiron following @jb70 modifications and his version with the reinforced suspension works very well. (mine morover is also a bit heavier by more added parts). You should try it . Edited August 16, 2021 by barbanera edit text Quote

Problem solved by using new parts rather than used. Edited August 18, 2021 by williamyzfr1 Quote
