I know from comments that some are not happy with the Yellow and Red colour vomit.

Personally I was OK with the old system of LBG for odd axles and Black for even.

But if I had a choice I would like all axle lengths to be Black

.... You?

Axles in all colors of the rainbow- like unicorn poop. But seriously, having options on axle colors is not a bad thing IF they would make all axles in all colors, however, I did prefer the lbg/ black scheme of the past over the red/yellow/black/lbg (and sometimes white) scheme we currently have.

I have simple phylosophy - on yellow mocs I use yellow and black axles, on orange I use gray and black and on CLAAS I use gray and red axles; trying to have smaller axle collor deviations...

As a kid I didn't have an extensive sorting system in place, and thus I know that if they're all in the same bucket 2L/3L/4L in the same color are very tricky to pick apart, and so are 10L/12L. 11L didn't even exist at the time.

Still, as an adult I'd say black and LBG, but use LBG for 10L and drop 9L/11L completely.

Green axles, then? Don't think we've had those since the barcode truck.

EDIT: Yep, a couple of green 4's appeared in 2002's Republic Gunship and a Bionicle barrel o' bits in 2004. Random to say the least...

Well since I use axles for stuff other than just axles I would have to say the more colors the better. Depending on the color of my MOCs I like to consult the color wheel for complimentary colors.

I actually kind of like how it is now, with all the even numbered axles available in either black or red and all the odd numbered ones available in yellow or grey. It makes it much easier to avoid confusing axles when building a set (since colors in any given set don't repeat until there's a difference of four studs in length), and as far as MOCing goes it offers more options than if one color were the universal standard for each size. Also, when building a MOC, sticking to a system like that (red-grey-black-yellow-red-grey-black-yellow or the like) can make it easier to keep track of where I've used two shorter axles and where I've used one longer axle.

Black and gray, please. Yellow and red should only be used for decoration.

But what about axles with stops? I think they should be dark gray for even lengths, and tan for odd ones.

Yeah, brown just doesn't seem right.

I prefer black for even, grey for odd, and red for the 2L.

I remember one technic set from years ago where all axles were black (including a few odd-length ones) and it was really tricky to tell them apart.  Once they made the odd axles grey, I ended up being able to tell what length an axle was just by looking at it, without the need to use the 1:1 pictures on the manuals.  I appreciate the need to use red and yellow colours for axles, to simplify or clarify the building process.  But personally, I'm not a fan, I feel the level of colour coding of parts in recent technic sets make them look a bit like k'nex.

Black and grey for me, but it would be fun with some in trans-clear and trans-red for light detailing in cars.

I try to collect parts in rare and odd colours, so I am looking for LBG even-numbered axles and an elusive orange/purple 2L axle.

EDIT: 4L axles were released as an alternate in some Star Wars set.

I have some black 5L which originate from 8539, and I concur.

I've considered getting a laminated print of the reference sheet, not so much for telling the parts apart during build but for sorting them during a teardown. And that not just for axles but also for the longer beams.

I am leaning both ways here... On one hand, a return to the classic black/gray would be nice, like it was in my first Technic sets.

However... Axles "like unicorn poop, all colors of the rainbow" would be really handy for the rollcages often found on my racing buggies, trophy trucks, etc. It would allow some great color schemes to be built, especially if you added sponsors.

I agree, though I've only ever found myself buying black and grey axles...

All axles in all colours would be great, failing that then all black, but if that's also not feasible then have all even lengths, including 2M in black and all odd lengths in preferably the main colour of the model, so in 42082 they're red, in 42080 they would be.....God only knows  . In that case might just be best to avoid odd lengths. However as odd lengths are now far more prevalent than even lengths, probably best to make the odd lengths black and the even lengths in the colour of the model. This would also solve the pesky 2m axle colour issue. Whatever they do, can we NOT have bright red and bright yellow axles together in the same model as this really does look like vomit (as much as I try not to use that word now, I don't think the designers like it much!) or even worse than vomit.....KNEX!!!!
