The set’s designer, Adam Grabowski alias Misterzumbi, has stated himself that this Batmobile is NOT based on the 89 Batmobile but rather a down-sized version of the 2006 UCS set:

Huh, I didn't expect to get actual confirmation from the set designer that it was indeed a scaled down version of the 2006 UCS set. Nice to see that some of the designers still remember the original Lego Batman line.

And about the Rebirth Batmobile, I don't think it's based on the Burtonmobile at all. It looks exactly like The Animated Series Batmobile but with a few small changes to that design, the biggest one being a bat face shield on the front instead of a grill.

I am a UCS set fan, and I can't remember the last one we got for DC, so this is pretty cool. I really hope they include at least 1 exclusive minifig though. They probably will, considering thats the main draw for resellers.

Honestly my biggest hope is that it's a complete remake of the '06 USC Batmobile. The summer sets have proven that they haven't forgotten about that set, and it could be a good way to promote a proper 80th anniversary set. Not to mention it would allow for more new comic figs, something that a movie based set won't be able to do

I'd be satisfied with either a comic or Burton based vehicle. Through I'd be skeptical of a comic inspired set as I fear they may use figures from the current wave or ones we've seen before. Sometimes they get inexplicably lazy.

I think a 89 bat-mobile UCS with the ability have the shield transformation would be something special.

30 years since Batman 89 was released is tomorrow?

As much as I welcome a new Batman set, especially a UCS, I may be in the minority when I say that would rather see the ‘50 Batmobile in this scale. As iconic as the ‘89 is, it spawned so many variants that Lego have been putting out for the last few years and the only other vintage car is the ‘66. Just me, though.

That makes a lot of sense. I agree somewhat, but would also love some Keaton and Nicholson figures. Something else I would be enthused for is a DCEU UCS Batmobile. That design is one of my personal favorites.

That does seem increasingly odd, considering how many other sets get regularly leaked. Everyone feeling confident about a release this month?

SDCC DC Exclusive set looks great. Love the forced perspective Gotham City. Looks like a really well done MOC.

Maybe that 80 years printed tile will show up in the D2C? It would be great to own that little piece.

EDIT: it appears to be a sticker actually

I'm so glad, that at first sight there isn't something exclusive (except the 80 years printed tile, I can leave without it), so it will be easily to collect the required parts :)

I agree, I love the DCEU Batmobile design, which seems to be an unpopular opinion (I think it’s just because people feel like they have to crap on the DCEU). I think my personal favorite was the Dark Knight Tumbler though, and you better believe I bought that set on day one.

I would love a UCS DCEU Batmobile with a Doomsday bigfig, since he got so unceremoniously ignored in the official wave

And honestly, this is how you do comic con exclusive sets, something really nice but no exclusive minifigures. I think this set is perfect for a comic con exclusive (if they absolutely have to do it at all).

A bit off topic, but I wonder if they'll ever retire that black and yellow torso. They seem to have abandoned everything else from the 2012 wave, and it's unlike them to use the same modern print for 7 years straight.

I really like this build, it’s compact and the trompe l’oeil effect plays nicely. Good use of technique and alternative methods. The only thing that bugs me is that his eyes look flesh colour, but that might be lighting. Must be narking for the Marvel fans that the figure isn’t exclusive.

I think you're right, the eyes are flesh colored. That's incredibly strange.

That's such a cool little vignette! Love the forced-perspective effect, and I'll probably have to steal that gargoyle design for a building of my own.

Pretty awesome little set. It perfectly captures the look and mood of Gotham City. Definitely going to have to build this one.
